I knew it would turn out horribly. The only ones who liked the first are Tumblr girls and waifufags. The moment they made the protagonists male, they wiped out most of their playerbase. Not even the heavy handed “”””””social commentary””””” on American politics today can keep it relevant.

Life is Strange 1 was utter shit. Bottom of the barrel story, voice acting, and no gameplay to speak of. Stupid contrivances such as disabling your time power for basically no other reason but 'oh its time for an impactful choice, gameplay mechanics must stop now.' Great comedy with David and the teacher though, watching him fail again and again was worth a few laughs.

Now take all that and realize that Life is Strange 2 somehow makes it even worse. Even worse voice acting, even dumber plot, even more hamfisted politics, even less gameplay. It's baffling DONTNOD is still around.

I only know of Life is Strange through the Limmy streams, and the fact that it has an unironic fanbase here is unsurprising and hilarious. They're annoying and poorly written, but something about spending so much time with those characters leads you to feeling a kind of attachment to them. In the Limmy stream for the DLC where you play as Chloe, you could tell everyone was becoming slightly invested in the romance, even though everyone wanted to make fun of it.

The first was more of teen angst/mystery/romance/supernatural thing
2nd took the politicking of the first and made it the focus, which as you can imagine ruined any sort of redeeming quality the story had.

They have got none of those things right in the second game.

Just like TWD s1, Life is strange was lightning in a bottle, you don't get another ride on the hype train.

Life is Strange 2 focuses on two Hispanic brothers that somehow always seem to get into impossible situations, all while receiving racist comments from those around them. If the game doesn't end with them being drone'd, I'd be surprised.

Love is Strange does the visual novel shit better than 2 and that was fanon.

Definitely worse. The first episode wasn't too bad. The politics felt in your face for a total of 2 minutes out of a 2 hour experience, so a lot of the complaints on Yea Forums are as always exaggerated.

Every single text in the phone in episode 1 is about the debate or the election and how it's a nightmare and they can't believe it's real. The politics were in your face the ENTIRE TIME. Why didnt they just make an actual sequel to the first game? It could have started differently based on which ending you chose. Only reason people gave a shit about 2 when it was announced is because they thought it was a sequel. I'm not gonna play 2 unless somehow it connects to the other game somehow.

The first season was super easy to poke fun at. But there was still a charm to the atmosphere, setting, and time travel powers that gave me a bit of a soft spot for it.

But I haven't looked into the second season yet because everyone says it hasn't carried over any of the same themes. No sprawling college campus to explore, no time travel, no sense of tragic nostalgia, just two bros out on the road.

As someone who experienced emotional abuse from a family member, I can tell you it was very well done. They aren't rampaging assholes 100% of the time *cough Become Human cough*, but there are times where they flip out on you for no fucking reason. I was actually afraid to go near the dad because of he reminded me so much of my brother.

DONTNOD are probably fucked. Even after multiple delays, episode 2 was still a buggy piece of shit. If Square axed IO for Hitman, despite the game doing pretty well, I can imagine the same will happen with Dontnod. Although they might not be as lucky as IO and Square might give the LiS IP to Deck Nine.

Deck Nine did better than Life is Strange 2 with Before the Storm. They said more in just three episodes than the first two episodes we have for Life is Strange 2.

Dontnod are one trick ponies. Before The Storm wasn't perfect, but Deck Nine was still able to create some cool mechanics despite Chloe not having any powers. By this point I trust them more with the IP.
