did they improve the AI in the second game? somewhat enjoyed the campaign in the first because it's all asymmetrical challenges, but in a symmetrical battle the way to win is to abuse the AI which quickly grows old

Easier said than done when his tanks just 10-0 whatever you throw in there and move forward with another tank. I somehow managed to beat that one though. The one I got stuck was the "what's an airport" map because fuck those bombers, fighters and copters out of FoW.
I also want to clarify that I strictly wanted to beat every map with highest rank which required not losing more than a few units at most.

Sami is good for Hail Mary plays where you send a lone infantry unit to nab the enemy's base.

She was useful in DS to get bases quick, then switch to someone with more defence

I dropped that on all maps with fog of war cus it's too fucking annoying mapping out the units and what activates them

Yeah but that's not an option on most AW1 missions. Kanbei is higher ATK/DEF on everything but they cost more

Closest I'll ever get is that ripoff game.

Sami's non-infantry ground units are weaker, combine that with Kanbei's attack/defense buff across the board and it's a very lopsided match that's only feasible to win because the AI in these games is so easy to manipulate

awbw is the best option for net play. It's run entirely in browser, so it might feel a bit antiquated to some.

If you guys liked AW check out the predecessor series "gameboy wars". Almost just like AW but no CO powers.

They are solid, but dated games. If you go in expecting exactly what you've seen from AW, you might be disappointed.
