>Battle for Azeroth
Everyone expected it to be shit, it was far worse.
Witcher 3. I didn't really enjoy it but it seems like it was what everyone else hoped it would be and more.
Doom 2016
That was par for the course since every expac and vanilla was shit and classic will be shit and private servers are shit.
I thought that Pong was pretty much as advertised. The angular and square equipment provided to you (even the ball was a square) really challenged the player to past artistic norms and to accept new paradigms as to what it meant to play a video game. The monochrome display accentuated the stark minimalism of the game and grounded the players beautifully in a setting that they wouldn't otherwise have traversed.
The masterstroke, though, had to be that you needed to physically travel to different locations in order to experience the game; Literally, you had to leave "your comfort zone" (ie your house or apartment) in order to experience it. As far as I'm concerned, Nolan Bushnell created a masterpiece of which there may never be an equal. It was truly ahead of it's time and will continue to be for many decades.
Bloodborne. Titanfall 2. Skyrim.
WoW was expected to be the biggest MMO and it still managed to be 20x larger than they expected.
>overhyped
>lived or exceeded expectations
Impossible, otherwise it would be adequately or underhyped
