Sprites look good, fanbase looks less depressed than when they were playing Melty Blood for years, nice to see fighting games get a cult audience.

But I live in Australia so playing any non-hyperbig fighting game is a waste of time. Time zones, etc.

What's it like to be an online gamer in Australia?

It is nice to see the game getting the attention it deserves, but I can see the community having to deal with a lot of shit post-EVO when the game goes back to slow steady growth instead of being the cool game to like.

Really UNIst is what the FGC needs right now. A new IP, with great features that is being carried by the gameplay and not some brand loyalty. Just needs to keep winning them over.

I've really liked it so far. Of all the fightan I've tried getting into, it's clicked with me the most. The visuals music are also nice and I like almost the entire cast both functionally and stylistically, which is rare.
I hope it picks up a lot of new blood and becomes reasonably popular and respected in the fighting game scene, but not so popular that it makes the community shitty or it becomes the meme of the week.

Very boring. Nothing but the biggest games have active servers at all here.
You do get a lot of crossover with the Japs, though.
Occasionally hilarious when I attempt to play certain games with American friends and it becomes a powerpoint presentation (the recent SNK KOF releases, for that).

I like it. My main problem is the execution barrier now where I have to learn a bunch of combos to really keep improving. I'm new to fighting games so I won't pretend my opinion is that developed, but they often feel superfluous even in games designed around them like UNI and I wouldn't mind their role being reduced some. I suppose some fans feel the flashy nature of them adds to the game's style, but when a normal combo by Byakuya may last around ten seconds with 60+ hits, it really gets excessive. Other than that, it's very cool.
That sucks to hear. I saw an Australian SSBM tournament streaming earlier, maybe there is some local interest in fighting games and you just haven't found it yet.

People like to bitch about everything, but when you figure it out with the average wage it's on par with the rest of the Anglosphere.

Fighting for neutral is very fun. But the combos are too long. Maybe I'm just not used to it

I'll be honest. This game feels like the most "for everybody" fighting game. you have autocombos and complex stuff without having to change control modes. plus a variety of character designs from wholesome to FBI tier.
it's also not nauseating to play unlike Melty Blood but not as boring as SF.
it looks good and it feels good. can't complain.
