sure he was okay, but then he was just a massive cunt tho

Just and only during those psychopathic scenes. It was the only time he did something genuine.

Japan loves him

No. Not even a little.

What the fuck was the list of? Looks like "non-party-member Confidants," but fucking Groo is there.

>I was acting like a bitch ass nigga so people would love me

name ONE fucking antagonist from a JRPG whose motivation isn't either destroy/control the world or daddy/mommy issues.

Attached: 1480492411394.jpg (250x236, 12K)

He is a shit character but also one of the only fun ones in P5

>"For better or for worse, his relationship to the protagonist was 'light' and 'darkness'. I really wanted to see him living, laughing and crying together as friends, a genuine image of him actually being alive." (Ryuuna/Female/34 years old)
>"There was just too little time from when he revealed his true self until the end. In my heart I want to understand what kind of a life he led up until now." (Oda/Female/28 years old)
>"I like both his polite, well-mannered youth face and his true face! In my heart he's a Phantom Thief too! I want to meet him again! I believe that he's alive!" (I Want to Eat Pancakes with Akechi/Female/30 years old)
>"I want a story from his point of view." (Akechi Cheerleader Group/Female/21 years old)
>"[Something something]. He's not strong like Adachi-san from P4. When he screams his final line it sounds like he's trying to say 'help me'. I like how weak he is." (Taro/Female/28 years old)
>"I have so many thoughts about him, but in my heart I'm just praying that he had some moment in his life that he was happy. [fuck it I give up this shit's unreadable]" (Hinamorimi/Female/22 years old)
>"He did his best living a very lonely life, and really I cried my eyes out during that last scene when he apologises to the Phantom Thieves. I really like how awkward he is at times." (Ako/Female/22 years old)
>"If I met him again, I'd go eat pancakes with him in Omotesando and then go to a sweets festival with him." (kemrin/Male/24 years old)
>"I always think, what if he'd met the protagonist earlier? But it's so sad to think that this is nothing more than a 'what if'." (Yoshiya/Female/28 years old)
>"I like his cheerful dancing during the all-out attack. (Lukewarm Water/Female/16 years old)
>"He has a strong sence of justice, but also shadows in his heart. When you go back to Leblanc and he's there drinking coffee, the tension goes up (hehe)." (Natsu/Female/24 years old)

Japanese players' favorite Confidant characters

>Japanese players' favorite Confidant characters
No it fucking isn't, otherwise Beep-Boop would be way the fuck up there. It HAS to be non-party members, but WHY THE FUCK IS GROO THERE.

>Shota above the lolis
Based Japan.

Attached: Oda.Shinya.full.2246385.png (567x800, 642K)

Akechi's motivation was that he was an illegitimate child, a social issue which doesn't exist in the west so we see him as a crybaby while in Japan he has a very real issue

>"You're not useless! We literally had to gang up on you to kill you!"
What did she mean by this?

Attached: 1540522001442.png (640x595, 349K)

all of those characters are confidants. doesnt mean all of them have social interactions, but each have ranks.
team rocket was just doing gang shit, they dindu nuffin

>all women
lol fujos

>10 females, 1 male with positive thoughts on this piece of shit
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Because Goro isn't a true party member.

user his sole interest is uncovering the truth, why would you call him a psycho?

Attached: file.png (1280x720, 1.7M)

Why the fuck do people like shitsona 5 again? Literally the only good thing about it is ryuji.

They didn't want him to beat Joker again

I'm asking what the list the voters had to choose from was. If it was just general "Confidants," the robot would be number 1 or 2. If it was "Confidants that aren't party members," Pancakenigger wouldn't be there at all. Why even bother making such a rigged piece of shit that you leave exactly one playable and extremely story-pertinent character among a fucking score of literal optional whos and a few relevant but still non-playables?`

If he was a girl Yea Forums would defend her harder than they defended Adachi.

>When you go back to Leblanc and he's there drinking coffee, the tension goes up (hehe).

Rudolf from FE Gaiden saw the state Duma was in being a degenerated dragon no longer himself while also being exploited by his followers so he gambled a plan to stop the Duma faithful and kill Duma.

Egil from Xenoblade Chronicles saw his best friend get possessed by Zanza and Zanza proceeded to kill many of his kind. He proceeds to do whatever he can to prevent Zanza from repeating what he did.

Hell even Persona 5 had a lot of antagonists that just wanted to control their own small bubble not the world like Kamoshida and his haram.

I hated the fact that they built him up to be a villain, then killed him off in an extremely unsatisfying way. The whole "go on without me, I'll keep them busy" trope is really fucking lame.

Attached: 1547317609738.jpg (400x400, 15K)

I liked him before the reveal honestly
He was a complete snobby faggot and I liked it. Then he was just a faggot.

Everyone assumed he would be a dorky lawfag when he was introduced, and while predictable it would have been better than what we actually got.

one of the proofs that fujos only like the worst written character of any games.

This. I would have liked him more if he was actually being genuine all the time and wasn't just some faggot with daddy issues.

No. From the 1st time I saw him up until his death. I was actually quite happy that he died, I would've been pissed if I he was forced into my party again.

I hope they won't try anything funny in the inevitable enhanced re-release.

>Akechi "killed literally dozens of people in order to say haha gotcha dad" Goro

He was tho

>shit guys, we should have, like, a cool twist villain
>>we've got Igor, right?
>no, no, like in Persona 4. that sold like fucking hotcakes. let's just do P4 again. Igor is the gas station attendant. we need an Adachi.
>>aw, fuck. writing is hard, bro. let's just have another evil detective who got Persona before you and swap one character in his name.
>yeah alright fuck it, let's go delay the game a few more years while we implement that.
THANKS ATLUS.

he cute

The only time he actually dropped the Naoto-lite schtick was when he suddenly became Adachi-lite. If he represented a legitimate ideological opposition to the Phantom Thieves, even (or especially) if he was endearingly lame about it, that would be a whole different character. But for that to work, the entire game would have to be rewritten to have the status quo have redeeming qualities rather than just being something adults do because they're assholes who can get away with it, so maybe that is a tall order.

Goro always ranks highly tho

>Persona 3 Protagonist
>Persona 4 Protagonist
>Persona 3 Female Protagonist
>Yosuke Hanamura (Persona 4)
>Goro Akechi (Persona 5)
>Persona 5 Protagonist
>Ann Takamaki (Persona 5)
>Shinjiro Aragaki (Persona 3)
>Yusuke Kitagawa (Persona 5)
>Makoto Niijima (Persona 5)

Divine taste for once, elevens

Akechi was never the twist. The twist was figuring out that fucking EVERYBODY already knew what the little shit was up to and blowing him the fuck out. His immediate forgiveness and redemption thing is stupid as hell, but the writing in P5 is definitely its weakest point.

>Door-kun topping
Well, I guess the nips can't be complete fucking savages all the time.

I often wonder if the whole "adult" thing was a mistranslation, or lacking some cultural nuance that didn't translate over. The PT is clearly specifically against the people in power who misuse said power, but they go on with this general "adults" thing while still fawning over Sojiro. P5 actually had a lot of good things to say, but that one particular reused term makes the PT seem like a bunch of whiny faggots (they often are, to be fair) even when they have a point.

>botted twitter polls

>The twist was figuring out that fucking EVERYBODY already knew what the little shit was up to and blowing him the fuck out.
Right, but that twist (characters realize the obvious traitor is a traitor for once) wasn't worth all the time you had to spend with him around. I get that you mentioned that P5 has pretty weak writing, but I've heard too many people justify his existence using that.

How much of them actually use the term adult and how often though?

I didn't exactly keep count as I went through the game, my dude.

Quite often from I remember.

Ryuji

Examples?

So just Ryuji then?

Yeah, big genius twist there that relies on a completely separate party to do what you tell her to do after telling your life story.

>but the writing in P5 is definitely its weakest point
This makes me angry because Kamoshida and Madarame's arc are god tier. The game does such a great job luring you in and hyping you up just to turn into a cringe snoozefest later.

Did you not play the game?

I thought he was a cool antagonist but then the game half heartedly went back on it at the last second

>Madarame's arc are god tier
And unfortunately shot in the foot with the continuation of WELL AIN'T THIS A FUNNY COINCIDENCE HAHA that plagued P5 through its Shido arc by showing OH YEAH SHIDO WAS BEHIND THE COUNTERFEIT ART DEALS AS WELL. The way P5 portrayed it, Kamoshida was the only evil person in ALL OF FUCKING TOKYO without connections ot this one small-time politician.

He's an okay character, mostly liked him as a rival and when he was a PT member but he was a good antagonistic/contrasting foil. Hated how his story just kind of ended half-assedly. But most people who criticize the character are just brainlets tbqh
Also mom killed herself out of shame and he was in and out of different orphanages where he was treated like shit, while his dad is a public figure getting away with it. Not the kind of person you should give magic powers to because he'll definitely use it to fuck shit up. Even he lamented he didn't meet Gary Stu MC earlier.
Pretty good taste

Yes I did. And I honestly don't really recall them use the term adults a lot, and honestly it comes naturally to use the term adult because most people who are in control are naturally adults.

i fucking hated him. the game's hamfisted attempt to force everyone to feel sorry for him almost made me want to drop the game. dude's basically a retelling of tatsuya sudou from persona 2, mass murdering jack ass with dad issues.
>P2 group handles the serial killer who is sperging out and blaming his dad and others for his problems
>they tell him to stop acting like a bitch, own up to his own actions, and stop blaming other people
>P5 group handles the serial killer who is sperging out and blaming his dad and others for his problems
>aww he dindu nuffin, guys. it's his dad's fault he killed all those people. join us again and help us take down your shitty dad, akechi-kun!
fucking obnoxious.

I think it's 50% a cultural nuance thing and 50% lazy writing. Japanese pop media always has this weird tension where there's a borderline-worship of elders/authority and their ways of doing things regardless of how stupid it may seem to the individual, and a borderline-worship of youth and freedom from those exact ways of doing things. That dynamic is a big part of what P5 should have been about, and would translate somewhat poorly without careful localization and contextualization. But the game does such a poor job of humanizing the adults (especially non-waifu adults), showing why "the system" is in place at all beyond selfish malice, and so many other writing fumbles it just comes across as clumsy. Every single thing Yaldabaoth says sounds like it was lifted wholesale from every other JRPG without a shred of original thought.

Well Persona 2 had a decent writer.

So are most people under their control, retard. So are most people in the fucking world. It's a useless term, nearly as much so as your one remaining brain cell.

I like the guy but understand if people don't due to bad execution of the character.

> Not the kind of person you should give magic powers to because he'll definitely use it to fuck shit up.

There's people who ask why didn't he do something better and the big problem is that orphans already have a hard time being adopted in Japan much less a bastard with no parentage, he only got to go to such a prestigious high school because of Shido and his initial intention wasn't even anything like killing people, he simply thought his shitty dad was a run of the mill corrupt politician.

What's your point? My point still stands that people that abuse control are more likely to be an adult than a minor. And they way that term isn't to antagonize adults but those specific people who abuse power.

No every character in this game was complete trash.

>And they way that term isn't to antagonize adults but those specific people who abuse power.
Which is exactly what I said in my original post, you absolute fucking niggerbrained retard. It's obvious who they're referring to, but the term they're using makes them sound like petulant faggots. WHICH IS WHY I FUCKING ASKED IF IT WAS MISTRANSLATED. You are thicker than a frozen bowl of peanut butter, holy shit.

Give character a pussy, it never fails. Akechi-chan and Joker would be flirting with each other behind their masks and she'll be so conflicted about her feelings for him. Oh why didn't he save her before she went down that dark path~

Guess people will see what the fujoshi see.

Female Akechi would be an even worse character, because then she loses even the one actually sympathetic part of her character which is being a bastard son in Japan. You would maybe get more bullying/rape porn out of it, but that's it.

Why was Morgana's character portrait always in Mona-mode, as opposed to the others actually showing them either in regular clothes or PT gear depending? I fucking hated that big head mascot shit, and I had to deal with it in the regular world too, when it should have just been the cat head all the time.
