Is it true that they censored the PS4 version?

What are some me tips for beating Vergil as DANTE?

His DT mode does so much damage all of a sudden

>play game
>don't feel in control at all, still take an "A" rank on the first three missions
>something feels off, check the options
>"automatic combos lol"
>wtf
>disable that shit, replay the levels
>finally feel in control, but I'm still learning
>only get A combos
>still getting S ranks at the end of every level

The fuck is wrong with this game

Anyone have tips for getting MAX-ACT for Nero? Just finished the game and i'm heading through SoS. This is my first DMC game and i'm starting to get consistant EX-ACT on a few moves.

I WILL SHOW YOU

It’s the lens flare graphical setting. You can turn it on or off on PC. Can’t you do that on PS4?

It is just super difficult, I mostly don't try to do it because focusing on it distracts me from dodgin and stuff.
I wanna ask, how was Mission 19's difficulty for you, because having played a lot of DMC4 I can't imagine how that fight is for a newcomer.

I died the most on that out of all the bosses. My first death in the game was to Goliath and I died to him a few times. Didn't die again until Malphas and then each boss killed me a few times until 19 except the nightmares. The first few times I fought him I had no idea how to damage him well after dodging attacks. I kept fucking myself up by weapon switching and being to far away to hit sometimes. I eventually stopped and would just dodge into Stinger, then pound him with some combo. When he first "powered up" i started panicking and kept trying to trickster dodge until he killed me enough that I started doing regular dodges because i felt like I didn't have time to attack after dodging. It took me a while to realize you can break his summon swords in the circle by attacking them. Overall i think it was a very good final boss for someone new to the series.

Attached: 1547790864863.jpg (250x247, 4K)

Wow you basically got the worst experience if this is your first DMC

How do I make guns not suck?

From a story perspective I would agree since, don't pretend anything else is bad though because I know about DMC2

Somewhat unrelated but might as well ask here. I own a PS4, are all the games from 1-4 on it? Because I want to get into the series.

It would be worse if he started with DmC, he wouldn't be able to enjoy 2-4 the same way

They're meant to suck, they are supplimentary to your other options
I hear ya
random deaths in the game:1
Malphas deaths: 5 to the berzerk phase
Vergil: hour and a half of attempts
I had an attempt early where I dumped a huge amount of damage and completely skipped Phase 3. He was on a magic pixel and I could have finished him with range, but I decided "not like this" , let him DT and he completely booty blasted me

Play 2

you get a 1.2x modifier on your score for not using any continues/gold orbs, which often bumps an A to an S. It's very generous desu.

The PS4 had a day 1 patch that censored it more than the other versions.

HD collection has 1 and 3, DMC4:SE is on PS4
I'd suggest playing 3, probably reading a synopsis on 1, rushing through 4

>They're meant to suck, they are supplimentary to your other options
So then doing the entire Urizen crystal shield fight with just guns was not how I was supposed to do it?
Explains why it took so long.

trickster away from difficult attacks, Royal guard the helm breakers, Royal Release or Royal revenge the 9/11 attack he does

>Shot Urizen's crystal to death
Fucking hell user how did you have the patience for that and not even try to run up and attack it?

I honestly couldn't even tell if it took ranged damage

They're strong as fuck, just use them as a supplement to your other options. Most of the gun moves have some utility. e.g. E&I's Rainstorm is good at keeping you airborne, Shotgun gives good quick hitstun, Kalina is a good long-ranged tool, and Michael Jackson is for orbs and the memes.

My first death the entire run was on malphas because she kept pecking me, what the fuck was that shit? i kept thinking the attack is over but she never stopped. Getting some yian garuga flashbacks here

So why did vergil suddenly want to fight Dante again? Was he planning on committing suicide via a rematch?

I think I got the hand of the bread and butter, is there a video tutorial for advanced combos or something like that?

Attached: 1550630708868.png (1080x1080, 1.88M)

Well that is the safest way to do it.

Just beat for the first time. Shit was a lot of fun, though I imagine the next difficulties is where the game really begins and I'll have to git gud.

Cancel anything into anything with Enemy Step

POWER

Charged shots helped.

just a grudge that never ended, basically. The implication is that he's jealous as fuck that Dante managed to do everything he thought he could, but didn't. Dante managed to beat him in a duel, dante managed to beat him again while he's nelo angelo, dante managed to stop demonic incursions time and time again, even going so far as to defeat mundus and avenge his dead mother. At this point, Vergil's search for power has culminated in failure because he's too late, and all that's left for him is to beat dante so he can be better than him and thus indirectly do all the things he couldn't.
Vergil's a fucking brat in his core, he's childish and his motivations are flimsy as shit, unlike his son who actually has a reason to fight.

*ruins your game*

Attached: Faggot.jpg (1759x1407, 246K)

How the fuck do you get the Obedience Training trophy?
V is great

I'm at the part where you get mega dante or whatever and the tentacles seem to be shot out at a totally arbitrary speed, trajectory, and duration. Every time I think I can just trickster away it either circles around three goddamn times or it comes out at super sonic speed. Is there some tell I'm missing?

I think I got it from royal guarding all of his attacks but I'm not sure

I'd like to know, too. I'm doing SoS mode now but it didn't seem like you could reliably dodge them as Nero and at best with Dante you either get hit or Royal Guard them

that is a start I guess. Thanks

I was only able to avoid it once during the fight. Either I avoided it by moving in different directions each time, or I somehow got out of its range.

In mission 9 in the place the death scissors attack V if you stand on the big coffin for a minute you get a lot of red orbs dropped on you.

The only people that think V is bad are retards who fight far from the enemy with him, which makes shadow have to walk to the enemy every time they dodge. Play aggressively and close to the enemy and you'll have a very powerful, rewarding character.

pop DT and just camp RG. That's what I do.

I wasn't even trying to get it and got it. I was just trickster teleporting into aerial combos beating the shit out if him

>fight from literally any distance
>shadow just keeps getting resummoned to my side, won't do combo strings
explain that

Expend the resource I need for this fight though? I'm going on my fifth attempt here because I can't earn back enough DT to either keep my health up or go level 3 dante again. This is fucking insane.

How do you fight the guys with hands on their backs? I know there is supposed to be some gimmick with the masks but i'm not picking up on what it is.

I stunned KC but the description sounds like you can't use DT or SDT

the dodge move does that. don't do that

all I'm doing is mashing triangle you fuckwad, I know how the dodges work

Any other random places that give you orbs without cues?

Anytime theres a mound of congealed blood its worth a try.

Finally got it. Turns out if you stall for time long enough he'll spawn tentacles. Perfect royal guarding those doesn't build the meter for whatever reason, but they're free DT and health, so no complaints there.

Now to do the mission again and not get a B.

So is there any point at all in using Buster Arm for 2nd playthrough?

charged arm does more damage than usual buster

I just came in to say that even though I dont play this game I freaking love the idea of these threads, enjoy these monster cans and hit gud together DMC bros

>rewarding character.
>V
No, he's fucking gay.

i really wish you could trade gold orbs for red orbs. I got 24 of these shits that i refuse to ever use

How the fuck do you max-act goddamn. I can barely rev the sword for half the attacks, let alone on command.

Is there a faster way to rev if youre shit at max-act?

press L2

For anyone who was having as much trouble with Chaos as I was: just shoot the fucker when he turns into sonic. It won't stop him from rolling, but it'll slow him down enough that you can just walk around him. Took me more practice time in the void to realize that than I'm proud to admit.

Speaking of, why are bosses not available in the void?

Pay attension to your attack animation and press L2/LT the moment you feel the sword makes impact, keep on practicing the timing till you nail it

Why is there no real music playing from mission 6 to 8. i wanna get hyped up while fighting any way to turn it on?

So rebellion doesnt just reskin DSD/Sparda and gets less moves?

Well that sucks, i dont like how the new sword looks and just wanted to do SOS and DMD with rebellion

this is the 3rd thread im gonna ask this, does one get super costumes for beating dmd prologue?

Why are all the levels literal corridors in this game? You can’t even move more than 2 steps left or right.

No, it doesnt count as beating the game

I think you need to beat urizen in the prologue in every difficulty for the S rank tho

F*CK D*MONS

Attached: 9712438725933268992_20190310014002_1.png (1920x1080, 2.46M)

How do we make V better to play as?

Give Shadow a trickster dodge that makes him move directly towards the monster like dante

why is phantom shafted? nightmare, griffon and shadow all got in

>Was he planning on committing suicide via a rematch?
Both that and the fact Vergil still wanted a rematch when both of them were at top power.
Game states multiple times that Dante would've fought Vergil to death this time and Vergil is most likely the same, they are around same level of power as well so they would've ended killing each other if Nero didn't intervene to force both of them chill the fuck out.

That's on top of the fact V is just human side of Vergil and he states that he understood the gravity of sins he has committed. Hence why i think that Vergil was absolutely ready to fight to the death.

shadow has more moves than phantom and is frankly a lot cooler

an user in the other thread told me to look at the sky but I can't find any spot to get inside.
How the fuck do I get it.

Attached: 20190310101257_1.jpg (1920x1080, 332K)

He weren't a part of Mundus eye trio.

Phantom doesn't have a core. Watch him be a boss in a DLC.

Not "at the sky." In one of the rooms (can't remember which since there's so many) there's a ledge you can jump up to. So just keep looking for that ledge.

Holy shit I'm retarded, I was overthinking, thanks.

Attached: 20190310105437_1.jpg (1920x1080, 313K)

no i just died at his 2nd shield in prologue and still got a s in dmd

yall know what's good

Attached: 9712438725933268992_20190310015531_1.png (1920x1080, 1.92M)

These live action cutscene are the fucking best anyone else watched these yet?

You're not retarded. Like I said in the last thread, I spent like 20 minutes running in circles and nearly passed out when I finally found it since I must have run past it a dozen times.

Is the deluxe edition worth it? I didn’t get it but it’s only N extra 15 plon pdn

I WANT TO BANG THE DAUGHTER OF AGNUS

Attached: 0QJNKM.png (502x569, 237K)

V's belly button is for ______

Attached: Untitled.png (564x716, 453K)

Not really. The DLC breakers all suck, the announcers can't be manually selected, the music doesn't work half the time (hopefully this will be patched,) and the live action cutscenes will eventually be on YouTube if they aren't already.

Stabbing.

Why didn't Urizen just kill V on the spot after Vergil had separated himself?

Attached: 1536722597762.jpg (675x1200, 157K)

how the FUCK do I beat the lizards without taking 20 minutes

So where's V's EX color?

Well damn

Guess I did good

Pulling this off is practically orgasmic.

Attached: Jet Engine Failure.webm (640x360, 2.52M)

tfw too retarded to use Royal Guard

Fuck, give some tips against vergil (dante)
his attacks are undodgeable

Alright I need something spoonfed to me.

So Vergil Nort'd himself with Yamato. Cool. Got that. But what was the point of reuiniting? Why was that somehow the goal? Was that the goal? Was V just supposed to wander for a couple months and then die leaving Urizen to rule the universe?

Urizen wanted all the power, ate the apple and was supposed to be fucking unkillable. Yet somehow he's easier to beat after attaining ultimate power than in the beginning when he's still just gathering his strength?

And why is he stronger as Virgil after re-assimilation? Why would absorbing his humanity back into himself make him stronger than being a demon king?

Did you miss how weak urizen looked when taking neros arm?

Amazing, user.

Green and gold.

Playing the demo while I wait for my copy to arrive. How do I consistently get S-ranks with my limited moveset? In previous games, I could only get S-ranks by constantly rotating between between moves, but I can't buy moves in the demo. I can get A-ranks, but I can only seem to maintain temporary S-ranks by constantly using taunts. Got an SS once, but not one SSS.

jump
and
shoot

Because the story sucks and is retarded.

They're really not. Spam trickster. Wait for an opening. Switch to swordmaster and unload on him for a couple combos. Back to trickster. Repeat.

Wait, is there no start new game over option? I'm tired of Human since it's too easy and want to play on the other difficulty.

Use devil breakers more. Overcharge them (by holding B/circle). Don't be afraid to break them, they're expendable and should be used as such

Getting to S should be easy, Break Age when you get to S to get to SS and SSS. If you're talking about S ranking the mission, just find all the hidden red orbs.

How many missions do I get with Dante I’m still on Nero and v parts

i fucking hate playing as V
i want to play as Vergil

Attached: 9712438725933268992_20190310031004_1.png (1920x1080, 2.03M)

Why is everyone acting like Dante and Vergil are trapped in hell forever when they have Yamato?

Mission select. Shoulder button to select demon hunter.
Scrub.

Level royal guard up to max and use royal guard if you're good
Level trickster up to max and use trickster if your'e bad. His rapid slash always leaves him open for attacks so just abuse that

Break his summon swords with your weapons

Dante will rather stay in hell than face Patty
Vergil is afraid that Nero will start asking question about his mom

Because Nero says it because the story is bad.

the entire point of separating with yamato is to heal vergil's broken body. the entire point of urizen collecting human blood to create the fruit is so that vergil can reform with a restored body and access to his own sin DT. it's more power as usual. vergil needs to beat dante so he can validate his own existence, his own ideals. if dante continues to beat vergil then that will mean that vergil's stance and powerseeking was for naught. only after vergil defeats dante can he feel secure in his life decisions to pursue power at any cost.

Is anyone pretending that they're trapped in hell forever? I think at this point it's very obvious that dante and vergil can get out of hell without any problems. They've both done it multiple times, Vergil even pulling it off while being a dying cripple

NEVER EVER

Attached: 8567.gif (400x248, 1.18M)

I like the photo mode.

Attached: 601150_20190310075018_1.jpg (2560x1440, 560K)

>But what was the point of reuiniting
V understood the gravity of sins he committed as Vergil and by splitting himself.
The only thing he shared together with Urizen was his desire to beat Dante.
So he pulled himself back together to have one last duel with Dante which would probably end with them annihilating each other.
>Why was that somehow the goal
No, Vergil just wanted to get rid of his own humanity. Everything V accomplished he accomplished on his own.
>Why would absorbing his humanity back into himself make him stronger than being a demon king?
It's almost like demons are powered up by human blood and the thing Vergil could never truly understand is that by discarding his own humanity he only gimps himself.

1 is fantastic, fuck off.

i just read on steam forum that they put patch yday to censor the ass n stuff
is it true?

Is there another style hidden behind double tapping a style and getting dark Slayer like in 4? Hated that

Licking
Post more faggot

>Dante's normal rebellion swordmaster attacks are implemented into his default attacks with Legendary Sword Dante
>SM attacks just become ghost after images
Never really liked Rebellion, this is an improvement

Attached: 158.png (447x378, 11K)

I might be playing wrong, but some Devil Breakers seem more useful than others. Punch Line seems excellent for offense and maintaining momentum, and I'm not sure but I think Gerbera's propulsion ability has i-frames? It consistently seems to let me avoid getting hit by Goliath's swings.

Also, I can't quite tell if Wire Snatch has i-frames or not.

I intended to dump rebellion/sparda and this upgrade literally got me to main it immediately.

Gebera and Overture are arguably some of the best ones for early game. Tomboy is an excellent addition later on.

CAN YOU GET THE NORMAL REBELLION AFTER IT GETS BTFOD

Attached: 1529587388503.png (2041x2794, 1.83M)

It's tricky to use vs multiple opponents. Just go to void and train against like Proto angelo or something. He telegraphs his attacks big time. Should help you get the hang of it.

See above. If you're not good at dodging get good at blocking.

Thanks mang, I'm trying to do the entire fight using royal guard without taking damage. I fuck up blocks occasionally though.

>but I can't buy moves in the demo
You can though

just go to the main menu and tab over to Demon Hunter user. If you can't see it, you're blind.

Yes, finish the game

I can't seem to fully figure out what Overture's for.

Not offensive moves.

i dont like that im forced to put a DMC5 logo on it

Attached: 9712438725933268992_20190310001348_1 edit.png (1920x1080, 2.59M)

I just love how prop shredder and aerial rave are parts of the move set. It's such a complete weapon.

>swordmaster charge attack forces the swords to spin behind his back
>once released it automatically lock-on to some enemy and proceeds to rape him with no input or downtime from Dante needed

Attached: 1546851605928.jpg (388x372, 64K)

The training mode made me think, this game would really benefit from a trials mode like most fighters have. Give people hints about how stuff is meant to work together. That also plays into my dream mode of having a game where you can make and share custom trials.

>I can't seem to fully figure out what Overture's for.
Big finishers. You can tag it on to the end of combos and it's fantastic for break points on enemies' armor or shields and such.

once you finish the game teh first time you can chose which 'form' your sword is.

I wonder if there will be 3 man BP or just 2 man.

Attached: 20190310111533_1.jpg (1920x1080, 349K)

Yes, beat the game

that fight was harder than Vergil to me thanks to that

>urzien on misson 08 takes no damage
>assume its scripted battle
>die
>its not scripted
>still takes no damage
help

Attached: 1509915205299.png (270x270, 156K)

how do you do mission 11 without equipping a weapon set? I always have to have Sparda and E+I equipped.

Oh. Well that might be it. Nothing in the demo has armor.

Overture is just a great big powerful hit. It can give you style like crazy if you tag multiple enemies with it. The break age is also fantastic. Big AOE damage for lots of style.

his health bar is irrelevant, you have to hit the crystal until it breaks and then you win

Beating the game lets you remove them.

Same

Attached: A5DACCEF-8A0B-4827-B8E1-3F3F06C54BB0.png (1920x1080, 3.31M)

>I can't seem to fully figure out what Overture's for.
Overture becomes way better after you finish the game and get double devil bringer so you can pull all enemies to yourself and Overture bitch slap them at once.

fuck i went full DSP, it's been a long time since i play DMC4

I assume you're new to the series. See the blue ring on the target while you're locked on? That's the target's health meter. You have to deplete the shield's health to zero.

Attached: Untitled.png (958x745, 875K)

Clear game reward. Forget which difficulty, might just be any. After you beat the game Dante unlocks one last ability, True Customization or whatever the fuck it's called, which allows to requip Sparda, unequip Legendary Sword Dante, unequip E&I, and use Rebellion. Fuck, if you really want to you can use all 3 of the Dante's swords at the same time

i think the intent for the tentacles is ground rolls only or trickster dashes. i don't know how you dodge it as nero.

I just beat this after attempting it for half an hour (Devil hunter). Made me feel pathetic at first but it was worth the feeling of being able to dodge all of Vergil's shit at the end

Wasted potential: the weapons
Faust Hat
>Meet doctor faust in those qlipoth chambers with all the dynamic lights and shadows that look like disco ballrooms
>He's the capo of the faust demons with an eccentric obsession over style
>Challenges dante to a 'dance-off' in a cutscene reminiscent of Agnus Redux
>Boss fight is a trickster-focused, timing-based battle with an emphasis on dodging or 'dancing' his moves
>Beating faust has him acknowledge Dante's style like cerberus and he becomes the faust hat
>Dante does a showy cutscene where he forces some empusa to be background dancers while he dabs on them
>Having faust hat equipped or worn changes your style meter announcer to him
Balrog
>Dante does some ippo boxing fight i guess

Attached: faust2.jpg (720x576, 162K)

So DO Gerbera and Snatch have i-frames or am I just stupid?

Vergil's attacks are so obvious in regards to timing that he's one of my favorite bosses to RG against. I only had trouble with his Majin form attacks since he goes faster.
Seriously, you can block the Judgment Cut, everything else is cake compared to that.

cerberus keeps lighting the entire room on fire. berial used to do the same shit and nero could just DT through it or run away. can you royal guard this shit? goddamn dog just decides to hit the entire room at once because why not then he does it every 30 seconds until I die. I am not going to continue or gold orb because I am not a fag. tell me your secrets.

Which is your favorite phone booth and which is your favorite Nico entrance

Attached: 9712438725933268992_20190310032430_1.png (1920x1080, 2.58M)

Just stay away from him and shoot the shit out of him when he goes fire mode, or use DT to tank the damage

Am I the only one here who cannot use camera control at all?
I am constantly getting hit because I never see the enemy or camera being to close to my character?

Attached: Devil-May-Cry-55.jpg (620x348, 31K)

Gerbera definitely does. Haven't used snatch.

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU BEAT MALPHAS ON SOS? You can't fucking avoid her when she turns purple and stunlocks you for all your health

Real talk, as a former DMC4 autist who spent 1000 hours in that game, function wise I don't particularly like how they spread out the weapons for Dante in a way that doesn't make any sense
>rebellion, DSD and sparda should be 1 weapon
>balrog should be 2 weapons
>king cerberus should be 1.5 weapons

Sometimes I want to do divekick and if balrog is in the wrong mode I end up wailing in the air like an asshole on punch mode. Rebellion is just gimped Sparda, doesn't even have drive and overdrive. DSD doesn't have round trip and prop shredder.

I like the good ol' days of DMC4 when you just muscle memory the BnB combos, with Rebellion Gil and Lucifer in preset order. Things are way less random.

>game doesn't work
>there won't be a fix for weeks likely
Welp, at least I managed to finish it once, so I can browser spoiler-free. But fuck, it stinks.

Attached: 1492503850097.jpg (435x398, 27K)

Bursting out of the ground in Mission 5 gave me a belly laugh.

Nice meme

>beat the game
>still can't unequip E&I or the sword
What the fuck, Itsuno

When the fuck does this game take place in order to have fucking payphones all over the goddamn place like this? The soldiers look pretty goddamn modern. Do cell phones not exist in this universe? Nero had WIRELESS HEADPHONES in the last game.

when he does the gesture that sends the slow tentacles flying out towards you, dodge the first one, then, if you're still hitting his body, switch to autopilot combo mode -- vanilla sword combo, pistols, whatever you can do while moving your attention elsewhere. Watch the side of the screen. You'll be able to see the tentacle coming back into your peripheral because it turns robins egg blue as it gets close to you.

Also, you might want ot increase camera distance.

>Are you trying to kill me?
>Take it up with Lady, she's at the wheels.

Attached: 1487849411964.gif (178x260, 1.84M)

Don't worry, you'll be fine once you sink in 1000 hours to this game

So you can't use devil bringer on bosses, you still need buster arm for that?

Some ye olde vaguely-british city

When I saw the leak I thought this boss fight was shit but now I see it had way more to offer.
youtube.com/watch?v=wiwF2t0LxbY

stagger them first

Yeah it is a bizzare restriction, you need a variant of DSD, Rebellion, and Sparda but not equip more than 1 of them. Rebellion is just a gimped Sparda, but Sparda and DSD share different functions so it is pretty gay not being able to switch between those. It unnecessarily limit combo potential, I hope a mod will come out to fix that

how the fuck did she get to Nero after all those fucking blood tubes

Attached: 9712438725933268992_20190310015525_1.png (1920x1080, 1.86M)

>Wasted potential: the weapons
>Faust Hat
Literally the only problem I have with it is the "walking back" animation not being replaced with a moonwalk.

Cavaliere should've had an unlock that would make Dante ride it if it's currently equipped in the same way V rides Shadow.

balrog before the nightmare dlc boss fight when

>beat base game
>SoS is actually fun now
>feel no motivation to keep playing
Fuck.

Gerbera yes. Snatch no.

so why did V stab him with the devil sword again?

Attached: 9712438725933268992_20190310033210_1.png (1920x1080, 1.98M)

You clearly don’t

>Cavaliere should've had an unlock that would make Dante ride it if it's currently equipped in the same way V rides Shadow.
I was really hoping for that myself. V's sliding was cool.

Any point to the buster arm when I can go dt and use the devil bringer?
You can, its just like using the buster arm.

Anyone got the "Battle of the Ages" trophy? It just says "don't use continues in Mission 19 and 20" and I never do anything but retry mission cause fuck checkpoints or using gold orbs in a DMC game, but I still don't have it. This has also happened to a friend so is the description misleading or is this some glitched shit?

DMD to get SUPER costumes, and fuck in co-op BP.

Desummons on the D-Pad so summoning into attacks is possible even in combat before you have summoned.

You can adjust camera settings.

Tradition.

I was just replaying mission 3, and i tried pressing buster when the flying titty demon dropped on the ground but it had no effect, what am i doing wrong?

But I pirated :(

it's really fuckign dumb that and the devil breaker lying around kind of ruins the story. it's like what's the point of nero going through these areas himself at all.

Nice to finally have an explanation on why Sparda gave Dante a piece of shit sword. Wish it only summoned 3 ghost swords to represent the three swords Legendary Sword Dante is made out of
Griffon nearly causing Nico to crash, leading to her calling him a fat piece of shit.
He didn't, he spurged out because he's Vergil and almost did but he purposefully missed at the last minute.
Funny how the we were seemingly fed the obligatory Dante gets stabbed with his own sword scene through trailers only for it to be a fake out and have it be something else later

Attached: 1370565433611.png (205x186, 5K)

He didn't. Pay attention.

Is this bait or just stupidity?

Use gunslinger moves and charge your shots.

can you seriously not do normal ass air combos w/ swordmaster once you get the sword of dante?

yikes

Does Vergil have perma DT in Mission 20?

She dropped after floating up in the middle of the arena charging up for something right? Maybe a glitch or bustered her from the wrong position? I did it in devil trigger and it worked, maybe try that?

>normal ass air combos
you mean Y or triangle in the air?

>takin a nap
>suddenly you get stabbed through your stomach with your dad's sword
man just let dante relax
continuity told me he didnt get stabbed, but what the fuck woke him up

Well don't do that then.

>Reviewers got SSSSSSS rank by doing whatever
>I barely reach S rank ever
What the fuck man. I hope that is just because they played on easy and not because auto-assist is actually good because that would be absolutely terrible and I don't wanna use it

It was a month-long nap!

it still is shit tho

Didn't Nero shove Red Queen down her throat and rev in the trailer? Maybe try doing it while she's floating above the arena.

Nigga the DSD implementation is way better, should've been that way by default

i actually forgot about "are you sure you dont want to revive here"

Do you need to stand in front of her head? Yeah i guess i was standing on the side of her or something, ok makes sense

Rewatch the scene. Dante woke up before the sword hit him

how do I take pictures if I'm a piratefaggot

let the motherfucker take a nap

then how do you slam shit down? why do they change combos at the end of the game? god of war would never do that

So do we have confirmation that BP will have some form of Co-Op or are we gonna be stuck repeating mission 7 and 13 for the rest of our lives to get the online dmc fix?

Attached: 1457104425887.gif (340x452, 1.76M)

it's built in to his basic attacks now user, you have to lock on to do the normal dive. Swordmaster just does the after images, everything that used to be a function of swordmaster on Rebellion is just built into it by default

I've just beaten the game. It was incredible, holy shit.
I do realize that was DmC homage, but that's how you make a powerful "FUCK YOU".
Also, Nero being a little bitch and having an inferiority complex over being called a "dead weight". I like it.
Liked the status-quo protection in a sense Nero bitch-slaps both Vergil and Dante and they both are like "you win, you strong" yet when he tries to stop them from going they effortlessly bitchslap him back. I respect Itsuno for protecting my power-levels autism.
Also, was it just me, or did Vergil not use Sin DT during the Nero fight?

That being said, did I miss anything? Is there any "reward" for the performance during the credits? I've heard people quoting "Not in a million years", but I don't remember hearing it.

Something about Nero's Devil Trigger design makes me think they originally wanted Nero to have long hair but they decided to go with a bit more "western-pandering" design later on. Dante also has a similar thing, in the prologue Devil Trigger transformation his wings' position imply he used to have a bigger coat.

So I should use buster breaker on bosses and devil bringer on regular foes?
I quite like how much more vicious Nero gets in dt

Dante's spidey sense woke him up

What kind of arm could Nico make if Nero picked up the can instead of the demon part?

Attached: peaches.jpg (355x355, 24K)

If you buster during her fly-by attack or while she's on the ground Nero will stab her and you can rev to do more damage

is there a way to use devil breakers while loked on it always gives me wire snatch

Agreed. I only wish we had something interesting for swordmaster. I don't like floating swords attacking/parrying on their own. Cool for DT, but otherwise too autonomous.

How about you actually beat DMD

The idea of co-op BP is 100% speculation just based on the fact that they bothered to integrate co-op into the game at all, which seems insane for 1 and a half missions.

Nah, she gets back up into the air during the buster move

The versions reviewers played allowed for easier S-ranks because the devs notices that NO ONE was getting S-ranks.

People keep telling me distortion is in but everything points on it being out.
Even RI the easiest attack to distort doesn't seem to work.

Not in a million years is in the Vergil fight.
Something like "Think you gonna defeat me? Not in a million years" if I recall correctly.

>Also, was it just me, or did Vergil not use Sin DT during the Nero fight?
Its the sin DT, pic related is his normal DT
> I've heard people quoting "Not in a million years", but I don't remember hearing it.

During Dante vs Vergil.

Attached: 1552148369366.png (960x960, 606K)

People say they love it, and it's getting good scores, but I want to know from oldfag DMC fans how it is compared to DMC3 and 4 (my 2 favourite games in the series). I don't care about DmC, or how it compares to that.

is speculation but a solid one, seems there is a lobby system in the datamining.

Are there any secrets in the Gilgamesh fight?

Which means I've stomped him way too hard.
When I finally defeated him, he didn't even manage to summon his stand.

Welcome user, it was a good ride.
>I respect Itsuno for protecting my power-levels autism.
At first I've had my feathers ruffled, but I suppose it is quite justifiable in the end. It is great.
>Also, was it just me, or did Vergil not use Sin DT during the Nero fight?
Wasn't the flying form his SDT? Or making a dopplegagner?
"Million years" is as said

>Is there any "reward" for the performance during the credits?
An extra scene if you kill more than Vergil does with Dante.

where's a good place to farm red orbs? I saw someone say to go to mission 13 and "just spam gunslinger fedora lulz" but how the fuck is that possible with 5 of those stegosaurus type things that roll at you and you have to parry to make them fucking stop? REEEE I JUST WANT ORBZ

no

It's better than 4. Not quite as enjoyable as 3.

Do you really have to do that just to unequip Dante's default shit? That's gay as fuck, you didn't have to do that in 3

>opening cincematic
>skip

okay I will just do laundry until the title screen loads
>game gets bored at the title screen

>Vergil replies to you if you taunt him
Holy shit

It's better than 4 but still not as good as 3.

Why specifically? How are the combos?

it's a skill, check how you are stuck at 85% with Dante even if you buy all body upgrades

It's an even better game than 3 overall but maybe the bosses aren't as tightly designed as 3. Although I'm just playing on baby devil hunter mode as you're forced to at first, it's apparently way better on SoS

That whole mission is garbage. The way the rooms are in knots and the stupid anglos just standing stationary in the doors. It feels half-finished. Same goes for Mission 16. To be honest, the only good mission in the late game is 18.

Way better than 4. Gameplay and enemies are better than 3, but the story isn't as good

honestly I wanted them to give dante new air combos aside from arial rave in swordmaster. the Y buttons potential is pretty much wasted in the air.
but seriously git gud and learn to style switch or just hold RS & use auto mode you casual.

>Wasn't the flying form his SDT?
Yeah, I'm talking about the flying form for which he charges his DT for quite a lot.
He did use the doppelganger against me, but he never went flying.

Read the skill list you dumb mongo

>I do realize that was DmC homage, but that's how you make a powerful "FUCK YOU".

whenever i hear it, it just makes me think of travis touchdown

I'm not sure how to rank it against 3 because DMC3 is an amazing boss game but nearly everything is That Part: The Game. 5 at least avoid that completely

>DMC5 is the second highest selling Capcom PC game ever, behind MHW and ahead of RE2
>Despite DMC5 being game that can only reasonably be played with controller, and has a long standing console audience

I think it's safe to say DMC5 is selling like hotcakes.

Attached: Mega Cool.png (455x396, 291K)

There has been no confirmation about that.

>then how do you slam shit down?
Same way you do with Nero. Read your fucking skill list

It is DMC4's gameplay evolved. It probably has the best gameplay in the entire series. Except maybe if you disliked styleswitching.
The story and characters are weaker overall than in DMC3, but it still has some great moments and since no playable Vergil, 3SE holds that over it.

Does the game feel ridiculously too easy to anyone else? Just finished DH with majority S ranks and only died about half a dozen times. Now I'm starting on SOS and it's not much harder.

My first playthrough of DMC3 I must have died 100 times, and I don't think I got THAT gud since then. Why did they tone it down so much?

Attached: 1552031614006.jpg (960x623, 53K)

They might as well have just named the demon king Ergil with how obvious the twist was.

DMC3 has a better story, and a better climax. DMC5 is more consistent and has more room for replayability.

Time will tell for sure, but I think 5 has a chance of being considered the best game in the series.

Alright, sounds good. Any chance for a bit more reasons as to why? I understand from this that the gameplay is better than 4 and probably roughly equal to 3, but in what sense? Difficulty? Stylish combos? High skill ceiling? What parts are better and worse if you directly compare some aspects?
I just want to make an informed decision, and all reviews just go; "omg this is so amazing" without ever going a bit more in-depth to why.

Are you guys ready for Dante and Vergils Wacky Hell Adventures in DMC 6?

Attached: dmcv.png (1241x661, 1.65M)

both nero and dante have way more combo options now and not having to backtrack through the entire game as dante is a welcomed addition

It's still in steam global top sellers

Attached: 1551889410143.jpg (331x259, 9K)

Both 3 and 4 have significantly better characters/writing/story/music but 5 has better gameplay. It has a lot of cringy dialogue(tons of needless swearing just to be edgy) and out of place fan service.

Attached: DevilMayCry52019-03-09 04-15-49-26.jpg (1920x1080, 162K)

Is Faust farming M13 more effective on higher or lower difficulties?

The original release of DMC3 in NA was actually on Japanese Hard difficulty. All DMC games are fairly easy on the default difficulty, and when you get to Hard you have all your shit. See how DMD treats you. I do agree the ranking system is too relaxed though. It's just orbs, style, items, and continues.

Rebellion/Sparda are just Reskins of each other. The only staple move they're lacking is Drive, and I don't really like the DSD Summoned Sword mechanic, because it makes DSD feel too "spammy". There is no reason not to be constantly spamming the style button while you attack with it.

I don't know their quality can't get any shittier tho.

Beauty of PC is you van hook up a controller. Won't argue that DMC used to be mainly a console title, but given the opportunity, many people would chose pc, but just hook up a controller.

DMD will kick your ass plenty.

Plus you need to remember that the American version of 3 had the difficulty jacked way up.

I found SSS super easy to get with Balrog and Dante in general, with other characters I really needed to unlock extra attacks

Thanks user. Really want to give it a shot, but afraid it won't live up to the hype.

I'm sad we never got to see Kyrie

You really want them to ruin her design as well?

I know about the version differences, I played the SE of 3 first and the normal mode still kicked my ass lmao. Even DMC1 had me dying way more than 5

Glad to hear that DMD is hard though.

Initial thoughts: I think 3 had more good moments than 5, and the areas didn't look ugly 90% of the time like in 5.
5 became hype at the end, but most of the trek there wasn't very memorable.

Webm, now

I used DT for that fight only after blinking through his Nova's. I think you just can't use stinger&co to gap close that fight.

It won't. I think it kind of falls apart in the final act, to be honest. The first 13 missions are great, though, especially on higher difficulties.

when will they release that for us

I wouldn't say 4's half-baked story is better. Only cool 4-specific character I can think of was Agnus. Poor Credo didn't have time to be interesting, and Sanctus was mostly just there. Nero definitely got better.
I agree on the music, but hopefully the jukebox option helps to mitigate that. It does have a bit too much swearing to my taste. And I can't deny fanservice either.

don't even remind me of the cancer that was NA Dante's Awakening

Holy shit I will never experience climbing a digital mountain like that again. I've never had something stomp my shit in so hard I started scream crying. Even as a child I never did that playing video games. Everything felt so bullshit, but right. Oh god.

>Just finished DH with majority S ranks and only died about half a dozen times.
Same, but also same for when I replayed DMC3 on hard in preperation. Honestly, excluding DMC3 Vergil himself nothing gave me as much trouble as Malphas on just DH.
>and I don't think I got THAT gud since then
You did. But you do have a point with style ranks.

It's not really difficult, I died more playing every other DMC(hell every other cuhrazy game). Combat is just 4's combat but expanded on. Huge improvements to Nero but I wouldn't say Dante is peak Dante, it's not bad though. V is not fun.

Everything unrelated to gameplay is generally worse though. If you don't like EDM or Nero role-playing as a cunt 16 year old you might want to turn down the sound and maybe play with Japanese voices turned on. All the interactions are poorly written and the story is retarded.

Attached: 1552201718957.jpg (1920x1080, 241K)

What are the downsides of switching DSD to Rebellion on replays? For me it just looks a thousand times better, I hate to look at the plastic fleshy toy on Dante's back and would prefer a slick cool steel sword if it didn't hamper the gameplay too much

>It's non-stop co-op between Vergil, and Dante
I would actually just cum buckets can we please have this as DMC6

Nothing lives up to the hype, we said it several times to temper your epxectations.
It is a great game, and a great DMC game. Just don't expect your ideal game.

But i like all the new designs apart for Trish's jew nose.

It'd be nice to see her, i guess budget cuts stopped it, i can't see another reason for her to be shown at the story so often, only to not actually be shown when even Patty got a model for a 1 second screen

I'd say, it's better than both.
I loved DMC3 during my first playthrough, and I completed it like 8 times + some more messing around. However, DMC3 as a game is inferior to DMC4 in almost everything, except for the story. DMC3 has a powerful story, great characters, and high stakes.
However, gameplay-wise, design-wise, progression-wise it has many flaws, compared to DMC4.
I have an absurd amount of respect for DMC4 and it seems to be getting better for me the more I replay it and more little details I notice about it. People love riding the "le unfinished" meme way too far and blame DMC4 for every sin in the world, yet it remains the DMC with the best combat and enemy-design. It also has the best level design across the main series only being worse than DmC in that regard.
It still has a good story, but the stakes fall short compared to DMC3.

DMC5 essentially takes the best of DMC4 - now with more time and budget than ever - improves on its ideas, and fuses it with a story that easily rivals DMC3. The only downside is that the story isn't made for a "new player", so you won't be able to get a feeling similar to the "Wanna know the name?" if you were lucky enough to have DMC3 as your introduction to the series.

That being said, I'm yet to reach DMD, so I'm yet to see how's the intended difficulty of the game looks like, but SoS is already promising. The game shows all signs of great replayability and if it ends up actually having it - it might easily be the best DMC ever made.
At least, after we get the Bloody Palace and Vergil.

>I think it kind of falls apart in the final act

So like DMC3
Or do we just ignore the last few missions that aren't Vergil, because they were shit

Also are you better of spamming Gunslinger like all the sites say, or going for that SSS rank? I'd swear I just raked in more orbs on my "blowing off steam and fighting gud" round just then

This is one of my main gripes why I'm on the fences; the levels look like utter shit. It's DmC tier. in DMC4 we had lush jungle, cities, castles. In DMC5 it looks like boring ass 'hell' each level.
Obviously haven't played it, but that's what it looks like in the reviews.

Any tips for those red invisible guys?

It's better than 3.
While 3 has a better story, 5's gameplay outclasses it and I have far more fun playing it than I had with 3, and 3 was my favorite game of all time before 5 came out.
Easily better than 4 no contest, both in terms of story and gameplay.

you actually get less of a move set, and ariel rave being mapped to your basic move is better. you still have all the moves of rebellion, but they're mapped differently. IMO better to use dsd than rebellion, but rebellion is way more aesthetic.

I really loved the story in 5 and thought it was great. I think it's the 2nd best story in the series right after 3 which still pulls ahead just slightly
Don't crucify me

I concur. I would say DMC3 did better for narrative, and technological constraints, but DMC5 brought it to a new level with dedicated face mocap, managing to get photorealism work, learning every lesson that its predecessors chalked up in gameplay.
It will be the DMC that brought the franchise into a new era, and will foster a new generation of fans.

I pirated it and it's just okay 6/10.

SOS seriously should have been available from the start.

It totally is, for so many reasons. I'll write up a reply.

How do I get an S rank as Dante on Mission 10 on normal? Everything has little health so I don't get many style points and I always get an A.

whats the requirement for Obedience training trophy? Not using DT or Sin DT?

I'm halfway through and it's mostly fucked up city and demon tree, with a few interesting buildings going through the city.
There was also one fight on a set of escalators that I thought was clever.
But I'm more interested in the enemies than the places I fight them, and generally the bosses and normal guys have been fun enough. The small flying mooks are kind of lame, but they always are.

Have to use swordmaster to get aerial rave, prop shredder, no Drive, no summoned swords (they still appear during DT though)

No fucking clue since they appeared like twice
I think I parried their stealth attacks a few times by mashing Balrog punches

Losing Prop outside of a combo is a huge downside of DSD. Otherwise, it's a direct improvement over Rebellion and I love it.
Rebellion does look better, though.

How to kill purple tube scythe guys and furies efrectively? They take forever to kill and teleport around

The first seven missions have been so dull. I hate V. I hate how everything looks like Chernobyl. I hate how retarded Nero's new arm is.

It's really all about what combos you want to do.
If you want to use prop to set-up combos, have normal round-trip instead of round trips and such then go with Rebellion.
DSD adds a lot of new mechanics to Dante, but I wouldn't say it's a straight upgrade, it's all about what combos you want to do

>"Killing your father... You wouldn't come back from that."
>Cut to sad Lady in the corner

id fuck the shit out of her to be honest with you

the characters in 5 are more mobile than they've ever been
use one of your dozens of mobility moves

>Losing Prop outside of a combo is a huge downside of DSD
Arguably the only downside, and even then DSD still has sword formations in Swordmaster which can launch just like prop, although the properties are a bit different.

In SoS they appear all the time. How do you parry stuff?

This
>starring
Shit has been so fucking gold with random people for me.

3 had some really stellar boss fights that can't be matched, along with a much better story, and setting. everything about that game is fucking crazy. even the JUST puzzle parts. my biggest gripe with it is the lack of style switching/weapon switching without mods, but yeah V is its own beast. It definitely amps the gameplay in a way where even if you're not totally familiar with the series in such a way where you know how to do crazy shit;the game actually allows you to pick up on it faster. Even timings with Nero's exceed feel a lot more "suitable" considering timing while actually playing the game is a challenge of its own, even Dante feels more manageable pulling off LONG air combos. DMCV is like 9/10, but DMC3 to me is priceless.

>That DMC 1 Trish sticker

Summon one in Void and practice, user. You have a great training mode - use it.

I had so much fun bros. Vergil was constantly kicking my ass non stop I was trying to beat him for over an hour. My hand was already hurting but I needed to beat him. eventually I did and now on the final Mission
Final mission was quite easy but when you play it the first time was absolute kino my dudes. Nero going FUCK YOU when you first activate his DT and then the dialogue and the music and the awesome devil devil bringer scenes especially where you bash DT Vergil and his summon together! This game was fucking amazing. I havent had a this much of a good time playing a video game in years.

Attached: 1552203368891.jpg (1920x1080, 676K)

Mission 19 is so much more fun than Mission 20
Nero makes it too easy

Devil Sword Dante is babymode rebellion that allows game journalists to do an aircombo longer than hightime->helmbreaker without learning that styles exist.

Attached: pUx4IKQ.jpg (1920x1080, 241K)

I wish I were good at royal guarding. My timing is always just a bit off, especially vs. vergil.

Is that a fucking Gladius

When you and an enemy swing at each other at the same time, sometimes they get stunned super hard

I agree, but scale it down to the experience and technology that they had when they were making DMC3.
DMC5 gets good points for making maximal use of today's technology (face-scan, clothes-scan, animations) and making it all work (photorealism in DMC)

And most importantly; Integrating and improving on everything that the previous games have been doing or experimenting with. THAT's the true power of DMC5. Sure 3 will always have a special place in people's hearts, but 5 brings it to the new age, and makes it relevant again in the industry. I was and am still very glad for this game.

How do I avoid Urizen 3's super death punch after he raises the spikes from the ground when he's low health?

>Devil Sword Dante is babymode rebellion
Oh, the quads of lies and deception.
DSD has the most depth out of the whole Dante's arsenal.
It does make the aerial combos easier, though.

>3 had some really stellar boss fights that can't be matched, along with a much better story
I disagree slightly with this.
I didn't think the story in 3 was THAT much better, it's better, but I loved 5's story a ton and thought it was extremely entertaining making it easily the 2nd best story in the franchise for me.
And overall I think 5 has better bosses than 3 as well and easily matches them.

I was hoping Dante would get more weapons. They revealed everything early

I'm pretty sure every random boss had more dialogue in 4 than 5, some of 5's literally don't say anything. They're just generic bosses. No one was really annoying like Nico or whatever, the story introduced a brand new character and set up his personality well, there was an air of mystery with Dante being around and Gloria, the antagonists were well defined, Kyrie at least had a model unlike 5, there were cuhrazy cutscenes that were fun to watch, etc.

5 discards almost all of Nero's character arc from 4 and almost every cutscene has one of the characters saying some cringy memey shit. The end was phoned in, the cuhrazy sequences were boring, the layout of the story skipping months backwards and forwards was terrible, Lady and Trish were useless, and Dante was acting out of character by brushing off Nero and V constantly. There's probably more but I dunno how to put it into words. Maybe I will just say FUCK YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE.

To top it all off though, they demolished Vergil. He looks like a fucking loser and the entire story was literally for nothing since he got slapped around regardless. Fucking retarded story all around, 4 wasn't even good but at least it was coherent and had some arcs. 5 was just sad especially given how long the game was in development for. I think this goes to show that fancy graphics are bad for video games, reminds me of MGSV and its shit story.

I wish they didn't force devil hunter difficulty on you from the start, I'm up to mission 18 and have enjoyed the game for the most part, but it's just too easy. I'm hoping the further difficulties actually put some challenge in them.

Other gripes;

For a character action game, there are simply far too many times where the action is stopped and you're forced to watch a cut-scene. I'm not even talking about cut-scenes where you have characters talking, just having the action stop to show you that the red webbing is being removed after each fight. It happens all the fucking time, even if you can mash start to skip it.

It seems that enemy intros play out even after you've seen them. Again, character action game - I want to be in the action all the time. How can Half Life 2 figure this out, but the 5th entry in the DMC series still make you watch the same thing over and over. I actually hope a mod comes out that just removes these.

V sucks and I don't like him. Having to move my summons is awkward, having to get out moves for 2 characters while I'm also moving around is awkward. But mostly, I don't like how awkward positioning my summons is. Maybe it's something you get better at with time, that's the only positive I can say.

You can't seem to play any mission with any character when replaying missions. That sucks.

Game is okay otherwise, Vergil's hair needs fixing.

By the way. After completing the game I still have two "???" weapons in my gallery.
Does anyone know anything about that?

3 is best because your villain is your autistic brother going on a quest for POWER, and you're just a sloppy pizzapunk who fistfucks demons out of existence; while the city gets destroyed by a metaphor for Dante's Inferno; and you absolutely BTFO of every level of hell. Nothing will ever top that game, and the amount of asspain it caused, while making you smile. This one is good, but not nearly as hard, or endearing. Part of the thrill in DMC3 was climbing the tower to beat the fuck out of Virgin.
Also this;nothing will ever top this
youtube.com/watch?v=DReUg3OY2Us

The music is fucking quiet in this game. Sounds and voices are set to 6 already music still at 10 and it still feels quiet

You can skip to the next difficulty by beating Urizen in the prologue.

I think starting DH is reasonable, I'd say it's pretty well ballanced
It should definitely let you skip SoS to play DMD, though

You're probably missing the original Kalina Ann and then the Double Kalina Ann when you use both of the old and the new one together.

Explore M11.

No offense but you're an assmad mong.

You can’t choose characters really? During mission select

>3 had some really stellar boss fights that can't be matched
DMC5 Dante vs Vergil fight is better than Vergil in DMC3, though.
It essentially scales from Vergil 1 to something like Vergil 4 all during a single boss-fight with extra dialogue, niche mechanics, and other cool stuff.

>beating Urizen in the prologue with no upgrades

Attached: 1537324964725.jpg (480x360, 17K)

Is there a way to turn off this "starring the dmc crew" shit?

Sure, all of that is cool, but that's not strictly gameplay. Cutscenes and the premise of the story isn't going to make 3 better than 5 for me because 5 has the best gameplay in my opinion, so it's the best game.

Well set sounds and voices lower, you stupid.

My biggest problem with DMC fans is that they care about the wrong things.
>Durr Vergil looks weird
>Story and lore shit
>Writing
Rarely do they talk about gameplay and when they do they just hold up 3 because it reminds them of a happier time, not because its actually good

Nitpick time; Anyone dislikes the JC animation? I loved DMC3's simple and elegant way, it felt like the guy is really cutting the air dozens of meters ahead of him with nothing but pure skill. In 4&5 they have to have these blue magic cuts
JCE is great though, I love the mirror effect.

>making maximal use of today's technology (face-scan, clothes-scan, animations)
And the trade off was cool ass cutscenes where characters were having fun being anime protagonists. You're impressed by the hundreds of facial close ups and I'm just pissed off that this is what the devs think I give a shit about.

Thousands of hours were spent on this dumpster of a character and all her conversations with the character instead of crazy cutscenes in DMC style. She was the character holding the entire game together in order to not make it feel random and too gamey, this is what "making realism work in DMC" looks like. It's called Nico.

Doesn't make any sense to dislike the stories in the games up till DmC/5.

>I think this goes to show that fancy graphics are bad for video games, reminds me of MGSV and its shit story.
Good comparison. I think both Kojima and Itsuno were creatively bankrupt in certain areas (anything not gameplay) by the time they made these games.

BTW, if there's an enemy you have trouble with, you can practice against it any time you want.

If you go into "main menu" and then enter "the void", you can choose any enemy you want, and set them to attack you. You can choose infinite health, or have them actually take damage (which is stupid, because if you kill them the thing has to reload to start again instead of just dropping in a fresh one).

This is how I learned that speedy gonzales is pretty much ez mode with any attack that sits around on top of you, like King Cerberus' ice age, and shit like that.

I'm surprised at the amount of people having trouble with vergil on devil hunter. So here's a few basic tips.
Royal guard is extremely useful against him. Don't use devil trigger at all or at least keep enough of it to make use of the parry. His flying swords are perfect to build up devil trigger and royal guard meter.
Attack only when you have the chance, you can get a basic combo on him.
When he goes into DT, you can still parry him but if you have trouble you can just switch to trickster and dodge the shit out of him until he switches back to normal.
When he stabs you, activate devil trigger yourself and it will get you free.

Play 3 and 1.
You are in for fun and story time.

One game that was way ahead of it's time.
One game that that on everything the first game stood for but brought some pretty interesting ideas here and there.
And one of the greatest video games of all time.

honestly with ss/ws mod it becomes better than DMCV in terms of game-play, but base game it's poorer in quality.

this game was great. i didnt even play it i just watched someone else play it but im very satisfied. its like a really good movie.

Anyone else notice that the Vergil fight was a big DmC reference? It was about the only good thing from that game so im cool w/ it

A small handful, that's it. Some of them simply limit you to 2 as well.

I feel like this game could go from a 6 to a 9 with some minor changes.

Dumbest post I've read all week.
Congratulations, I guess.

>And the trade off was cool ass cutscenes where characters were having fun being anime protagonists.
What are you talking about? Every Nero cutscene with an enemy is anime protag gold.

don't bother mastering nero's exceed mechanics until you finish the game and unlock his other timed button press in his combos. then you can practice with the full 3 button press sequence. or give up cause we born of mortal limitations.

These past 2 hours I was repeating Mission 12 with randomly matched people. It's good for farming and practice.

Attached: 1540382685531.gif (300x263, 732K)

I honestly hate the Vergil fight in this game. The segmenting is so obvious that it doesn't have any room to breath. Every encounter in 3 feels very organic, but in 5 the whole thing just feels so rigid that it's not enjoyable. The fact that the edges of the arena fuck up your lock on also feels sloppy. I didn't really have any fun with it, and was hoping the Nero/Vergil fight would be better, but that's just a victory lap.

shut up and post lady

Anyone feels like the style points system is a bit fucked ?
It seems to work by just counting how much time you spend in a rank and pulling your score toward the value each rank is assigned

For example if you get to A your score will start to go up or down toward 3500 S seems to be 4000 after that it might be SS is 5000 and SSS 6000?

The problem is that some level start with really shitty fights that can be over before you even score an S, and some fight might litteraly just be 3 tentacules that die in 2 hit pretty much forcing you to get a D fucking up your score

As a person who fucking hates gamepads, will it rape my ass hard?
Gonna start with 3

Bruh 1 trading card for this on steam is worth like 0,30. That is unusually much

Yamato is not just a regular katana. The judgment cuts are literally cutting reality and 5 shows it completely. I love the effect, super cool.

>Facts are dumb

Nah DMC3 Vergil is way better, and way harder to fight. Vergil phase 2&3 are nuts.

Both games were the types where you have to be retarded to fuck it up but they both fucked it up. I have no idea what's wrong with the people in charge of these games. Any fan could have come up with better stories for these games.

This to be honest.
I see so many say
>"Hurr yeah the gameplay in 5 is definitely the best but 3 is the best game because it has the best story"
Which is weird to me because all anyone ever talks about is how gameplay is the most important aspect of DMC but when it comes to 3 it's pure nostalgiafagging.

"Use no DT" is what I read but it's a huge thunk from me bro

How do you beat Furys with Nero?

I lost to him like 3 times in a row the 3rd getting all the way to the doppelganger phase and realizing I had no DT nor SDT left.
After admitting this looks like a battle for RG I the fight him once again while getting used to the timings, and I slapped his ass on the next battle so he didn't even manage to get his doppelganger out.
Hitting Royal Release on his SDT form first attempt felt so fucking good, my god.

>honestly with ss/ws mod it becomes better than DMCV in terms of game-play
why

Red flashes are got immediate attacks, white eye flashes are for attacks coming in about 2 seconds, if they're teleporting with no flashes I think you can time their teleports when they do that to block on the one where they actually strike

The only thing that I've felt REALLY disappointed by are the cinematics honestly. 80% of the time it's just talking heads, that admittedly look pretty good, but ultimately offer nothing but dialogue. There is nothing that comes close to DMC4 levels of "wow that action scene was beautifully choreographed and look so fucking cool", like the first Dante v Nero, Nero and Gloria and so on and so on. Not even talking about DMC3 insane shit, it's in a tier of its own.
The only thing that even came close to it is the last Vergil and Dante scene, and it lasted about 5 seconds total.

>Vergil phase 2&3 are nuts
Not really, you just wait until he Judgement cuts and trickster up to him and spam Million cuts.

DMC3 has better gameplay than V when you add in the SS/WP mod, but its bosses, music, plot, and setting are much better. V is a really good game, and I'm loving it, but it failed in some aspects, and that's okay. I'm really looking forward to co-op BP;that will make it the better game.

I hated that lock-on too, especially with the Malpheas bossfight where I was trying to find the dropped Devil Breakers, and the camera just insisted on dragging me back on the demon chicken.

Wasn't there a way to turn that off in the options? I've seen something like that, but I can't start the game again.
Wasn't there a way t

I have no idea. I got it half-way through the fight and wasn't doing anything special.

>Can't even come up with arguments
>just "lol dumb post" to feign ignorance

I've completed DMC3 first time on a default layout keyboard
It is better with a gamepad, though.

Because he likes DMC 3 better and his confirmation bias won't let him say otherwise

>V
Fuck off discord tranny

Contrary to popular belief DMC is perfectly playable with a keyboard. However 1&3 have a couple of fucktarded platforming segments that are fucking annoying on game pad, and doubly so on keyboard.

Better weapons and enemies, combos are way cooler.

model ripping has begun.
poorly animated bestiality sfm porn soon

Attached: D1O2XSwX4AAEtim.jpg (789x1200, 62K)

you have access to all weapons, and you can choose how many will be in your load out, and can map all styles, and initiate a double tap input for DP, and Quicksilver. this makes for some really crazy combos, and a much better experience than what V has to offer. load a full save for complete styles, and it's a perfect game. it's how it should have been released as base.

God damnit I wasnt expecting DT Nero to look this cool specially after they fuck with his design to pander to western audiences. Also, the concept art for every character looks better than the models wtf

Attached: dmc-5-nico-concept.jpg (1024x577, 96K)

>DMC3 enemies
>good
yikes

I honestly dont remember in 3 but you'te dead wrong about 4

In 4 each hit gave you a certain amount of points, which was then multiplied by a number assigned to each rank letters
The meta was about getting as high a rank as possible in order to maximise how much point you'd get in total

In DMC 5 the meta seems to be about getting to SSS and then fuck around for hours doing low damage shit to stay in SSS as long as you can

Haven't gone into training mode much with Nero at all, Dante has too many moves and I'm still only have 70-80% of them. Maybe try walking directly up to him and bustering him and bustering him, since swinging sword or shooting hium will make him fuck off and disappear.

Rawhide would stick around long enough as well. Would be easier to time I think.

desu I never liked the weapons in 3. There all shit compared to 4 and 5

I'll see how it goes then, thanks. Played Bayo and some other games on gamepad and it was ok, but I still prefer kb+m. DMC3 in HD collection is the special edition one, right? R-right?

I gave my reason, and it has to do with game-play, and there's legit reasoning behind it. also you can actually cancel your inputs by switching at any time unlike in V where your inputs have to finish before your weapon can switch. That's really the only big turn off for the new game.

Amen

Vergil is a loser and Nero's arc in 4 is relevant in 5.

Yes it is.

Even with mods I disagree.
There's too much fun to be had with Nero and Dante in 5 for me to consider 3 with style and weapon switching better.
I like the weapons in 5 more, Nero is just 4 but far better. Just the bringer knuckle mechanic with momentum stops adds a whole new layer to Nero.
I also find the enemies in 5 far far better than 3.
There's no Dullahans, Soul Eaters, Bloodgoyles and Enigma's. Every enemy is fun to fight for me.
I also think the overall quality of bosses in 5 is better. There's no boss in 5 that is as bad as Leviathan's core, Gigapede and Arkham.

No-one ACTUALLY buys it for the gameplay, right????
Fucking retard, hang yourself.

How the fuck does style rank system works? Why does in give me less pts in one mission and more in the other?

are you? you cannot weapon switch immediately during combos;unlike 3 where you can immediately string in combos. go ahead, and try to string a combo with the twin cycles, and see what happens you will be stuck in the combo until the animation finishes.

why no face?

>just having the action stop to show you that the red webbing is being removed after each fight
now that you mention it, yeah that is totally unnecessary. The music ending should be enough cue to move on even if you didn't see it.

i use swordmaster in 3

Visit a DMC thread any time you retard

i know this is for dmc 5 but i just bought the hd collection and just beat the first spider boss on mission 3 in dmc after three tries

I just replayed the whole series in prep for 5 after having not played a DMC game in over a decade. I S ranked Mission 20 in DMC3 and would've SSed if I didn't take one silly hit. Mission 19 in DMC5 took me like ten tries. He's WAY harder in 5. That said, I don't judge boss quality by how hard they are, and the fight in 5 isn't much fun.

>Enigmas

good job. are you having fun?

Is the game good?

Nope, Nero calms down at the end of 4. He was angry for most of the game because of his kidnapped girlfriend and his world crumbling around him, but he always tried to retain his cool demeanor. When it's all sorted out you get that nice happy ending with him having grown as a person, gained strength, and he mellows out. In 5 the first thing he does is cuss(and he doesn't stop, it only gets worse), brag about killing his friends father, bickers with everyone, and grins like a complete faggot when he isn't screeching. Then right at the finale he completely changes and becomes this mary sue wise guy. Nero in 4 was a very different guy in 4 and 5 butchered him.

Try to pay more attention to reality and not your own little narrative, okay champ?

>cherrypicking this hard
you're DESPERATE stay mad kid DMC3 still reigns as the better game

They're fucking boring.

7/10 tops.

That means you're slow.
Vergil in DMC3 is streamlined. Vergil 3 is the least streamlined of the bunch, but he's still highly streamlined. If you know how to play DMC and can't beat Vergil 3 on normal within a couple of attempts you likely have no idea what you're doing.

Not that guy, but have you used style switching in either version? I think the abundance of options makes 5 easier.

I did the same thing and I lost to vergil in V so many times that I got good at royalguarding, dmc 3 vergil took me two tries and didnt even need to royalguard him (of course only talking about baby DH difficulty)

None of those were anywhere near as bad as Leviathan's core in my opinion.

DMC vet here, I am totally getting my shit blown up on SoS with Dante. He does so little damage, I guess I have been crutching really hard on Nero's buster and V's nightmare, by extension DMC4 distortion. I can do star raves and juggles, but none of them do any damage. Even Queen Empusa took me a long time to beat, yet alone Fury and tentacle monster. I don't know when to royal guard and struggles to do big boy damage.

Of course, Sin DT is an option, but it is a cheap, unsatisfying full screen nuke and Dante controls like shit under Sin DT. What do??

It's GOTY material. Unironically.

Move griffon to L2, and use him for charge attacks, stay close to the enemy.

they're on the same plane;not disagreeing those bosses in 3 are bad, but those bosses in V are bad.

They are probably just chilling with the "V is Mundus, and V is Demifiend" crowd.

Use KB+M

Can someone explain the new style calculation system? Im used to DMC3 where as long as you barely took damage and completed the mission quickly with good style, you got an S

Yet there are some pesky missions here where I reach S+ rank in every fight yet I get permanently stuck at an A rank, like Mission 10.

Attached: 1433006631594.png (640x480, 290K)

I'm currently fighting Vergil in SoS. I'll compare it solely to 3 since it stands head-and-shoulders above 4 without even trying.

Aside from Vergil himself the difficulty is greatly toned down, and even then he's only given me trouble with Dante, Nero stomps him. But at the same time the enemies are a lot better with more attack variety and less bullshit mechanics; there's an enemy who disappears like Soul Eaters but he does so only to attack you and you're given all the tools to parry him when he does, there are shield enemies like Dullahan but instead of only attacking from behind you can break their shield and parry attacks, unlike goyles who had to be shot firegoyles will lose their flames when shot but can still be sliced up if that's your thing; instead of, "You have to do this," it's, "You're encouraged to do this," which is a major step-up and makes me hopeful for DMD. Another aspect of encouraging but not forcing is Dante's weapons, Cav and Balrog have mechanics that reward you for sticking with them rather than constant switching but you can still constantly switch without losing too much. With all the new mechanics skill-ceiling is through the roof, and while it has less weapons it does make up for it with how deep they go and having Nero too. Bosses are about equal, the highs aren't quite as high as 3's (again, might change with DMD) but at the same time the lows are nowhere near as low as 3's, there's nothing like Arkham or Gigapede. V is a weird one. He has good aspects and bad, very much feels like a working prototype than a full-fledged character. I won't go into him too much, you'll either like him or you won't. I'd say it's level with or better than 3 in all aspects but difficulty and story (both overall plot and characters, particularly the demons and bosses) right now, if DMD ramps things up as much as I hope then I'd call it a clear winner over 3.

the movement seems weird and sometimes it seems to aim me in another direction, but it may just be because its an older game. i love it so far

This is the only DMC thread to talk about gameplay and that's because it specifically asks in the OP. Every other DMC thread has been storyfaggotry

What did I cherry pick you absolute retard?

Real impact.

Welcome to the ride.
1 is a bit wobbly in places since the series was just finding its feet as something other than RE.
2 can be skipped with no ill effect. It contained the seeds of things that became good in 3 and later so it can be interesting in that regard.
3 Set the new standard for the genre, and people are still in debate if it's better than 5, even with 5's mechanics.
4 introduces Nero and a lot of mechanical upgrades that continue into 5

i'm saying 5 is easier

DSD does, yes. But cerberus shits out damage. And so does Kalina Ann. Just spam the Gunslinger moves at the start of fights, the homing rockets alone do a free 1000 damage.

>very much feels like a working prototype than a full-fledged character
That was exactly my impression too. Maybe Itsuno has further plans for his concept down the line.

is anyone here good enough to beat urizen with no upgrades

>it was my first time fighting him in a few years, went alot faster on Hard and Very Hard
And with that experience you went in to fight Vergil in DMC5 who basically goes from Vergil 1 to Vergil 3 + some through the battle.

Read these 2 the rating has changed

YOU CANNOT KILL ME

The best game this console generation.

Can they please shit out a quick co-op game with Dante and Vergil broing it up in Hell? I need this.

DMC1's mechanics are pretty different from 3, but it's worth playing just to add weight to the story in 3.

Dragon's Dogma 2 summoner vocation.

>lol
Fuck off back to whatever normalfag hole you came out of

Real impact doesn't do enough damage if you're not fully charged with 'Rog. Nowhere near DRI. Balrog in general sucks with exception of divekick and real impact. I guess I still had the muscle memory of keep cycling the weapons, rather than following DMC5 design in which you're encouraged to build up meters and mechanics for a single weapon.

>And the trade off was cool ass cutscenes
DMC5 has like 3 hours of cutscenes.
Plenty of them is cool fun anime.
What the fuck are you talking about?

What the fuck that's retarded. So my goal is to just get to S and then do no damage and try to preserve my rank? Shit's fucked.

Trickster

>this game does not condone to the smoking of cigarettes

DD1 controls better than V does though, that would be a massive downgrade.

Guys did we ever figure out why Trish looks all fucked up??

i love her voice and acting.

the demonic power Mundus used to create her is starting to wear off, causing her to degrade

>lorem ipsum

I wrote they're still fun as fuck. I generally don't like flying enemies

>Plenty of them is cool fun anime.
No mate.

The waterslide has bananas

tis a joke you dumb cunt

So since Redgrave is obviously based of London using British street signs and what-not, does this mean Dante and Vergil are Britbongs?

The nose knows.

The same reason every character looks fucked up. Capcom is retarded.

That's an ASSumption user;keep making those, and you might make an ass out of yourself.

It's just a rehash of the same shit.
If you're a DMC fan you'll like it.

>used 2 gold orbs like a retard just for this image
god fuck im bad

Who is cuter, Lady or Trish or Kyrie?

>Can't spell
>Doesn't properly space your sentences apart
>Bad capitalization
I guess my assumption was right huh

>all Nico van scenes
>Cavalier kill scene
>Cavalier weapon exhibition
>Cerberus weapon exhibition
>Nero DT in between Dante and Vergil
>Dante MJ Dance
>Dante m10 Urizen fight with E&I slides
>After Credits Dante and Vergil scene
>Artemis start and kill scene
>Nero mission 1 scenes
And probably more I can't remember, this is off the top.

You have a very different definition of cool anime than I do.

I can only assume it was done to avoid the typical "some missions are retarded to s rank on the easier difficulties because you can't style" but it creates new problem where some levels have really trashy short fights in between bigger ones that progressively lower your rating despite you doing as great as you can

>tfw perfect RG Urzien real boss fight and then blowing it on his face
Holy shit I feel powerful

You sound like one of those "I don't like anime but Jin-roh is based" faggots

>Elder Greyhon
What the fuck it was great
>vines
Agreed
>giant chicken
It's good, has really cool attacks
>parasite you fight as V
I think it's like Cerberus in 3
>Gilgamesh
This is basically what Centipede should have been

It's the best

I don't even know what you're talking about.

Getting massively shilled, ask again in a week.

Sure kiddo

Gunslinger is awesome in 5 .

Getting raided by contrarians, ask again in 2 months

>4 summoners (players or pawns) fighting a cyclopes, a chimera, and 20+ skeletons
Wouldn't work. Original DD could barely handle four people in that scenario, let alone them plus 12 summons.

Gunslinger was always awesome, 3fags are just too retarded to use it properly

What's the deal with this "Starring" shit?

>Get you arm ripped off by some guy
>Have your mentor call you dead weight as he dies in front of you to the same guy
>Sit on all this for a month while Nico roasts you constantly
>Turns out the guy who did all this shit is your Dad which brings you back to that time you couldn't save the man who was effectively your brother
>Y is he so mad? :c

I can only assume people like you have genuine autism and cannot comprehend human emotion. Just because he calmed down at the end of 4 doesn't mean he's suddenly completely immune to anger now.

Works well on PC.

>implying that I spelled anything wrong
>implying using greater-than signs is proper grammar
>not ending your sentence with a period when you LARP as a grammar Nazi
>spacing is fine
wow user you're so smart;what are ya doing in life?

>I know nothing about gameplay: The Post

Holy fuck Geryon takes soooo long on DMD

Original DD was on previous gen, if they haven't even started making 2 yet there's big chance it will come out for next gen

it'd be fine with the ps4pro, the sup'd xbox, and pc players.

4 MAN

DMC essentially makes DD. So we will get one before the end of the console life-span.

>what are ya doing in life?
Playing DMC 5

I must have missed it but did dantes shop really not get its door kicked down?
