EV was the turning point for most. It wasn't that fun to play and the story was a beach episode. It still had its moments though, like Miyabi and her Mama-shama or Hibari getting fed up with her stalkers.

Shinovi came out before Deep Crimson. And it went to shit when the story went increasingly inane. Shinovi actually has the smoothest controls of any action SK but it has the RE6 problem of having 4 campaigns that get tedious to slog through, in part because it's also the easiest SK to cheese short of postgame Deep Crimson. Still had some decent story bits to it nonetheless. Estival is where things get derailed both in story and controls and the series hasn't really rebounded from it since.

Estival hurts less if you start with it because you don't know what came before it, though I have no idea how you didn't find the story to be an absolute clusterfuck. You'll find combos are way easier to pull off in SV for example because everyone and their mom doesn't have superarmor in that game. You can also do shit like dash cancelling and, with some characters, infinite dash strings. That said, if you do like the story of Shinovi then I implore you to check out Burst in whatever way is easiest for you.

Dude Shinovi Versus was so much faster. SV to EV is like Melee to Brawl.

You can like it but there's an obvious tone shift and some characters get treated like shit. Like usually the worst you can get is someone gets ignored. But EV takes it a step further and makes someone like Daidouji into a meathead.

Her backstory, to put it simply, is that she is the eldest of a long list of siblings but was orphaned as both of her parents were shinobi and died in action. Because of this, she took responsibility and tried her best to raise her dozen or so siblings under her wing. Little bit more to the story than that but basically she's the nurturing type and probably the most experienced "mother figure" of the series. As such, she's by far the easiest to impose marriage/impregnation fantasies upon. You even see both sides of the coin with her, she's strict and guiding to most of Gessen but demure and submissive to Yumi as she's the team leader.

Burst Renewal is an immense step up from Estival's bullshit despite being based on it, don't belittle it like that. The enemy attack telegraphing and parry system makes the game the only Versus engine game that's fun to play at all, it has a hard mode that's actually worth one's time since it's not solely based around super spongey enemies you have to grind around.

I doubt they'd do anything with SK2 though, they seem intent on dropping that timeline outright and have brought the key characters from it over to the Versus timeline anyways. It's a shame the Japs literally sucked too much at video games to appreciate it, a ton of love went into it and it shows. Plus it somehow has the best breast physics and most differentiated chests in the series despite being on the weakest system.

When puberty hits softcore fanservice is enough to get you going, in late teens you get into hardcore and depraved shit, and when adulthood hits you realise that softcore is the pinnacle as it leaves you with your imagination. It's a lot more intimate.

I actually really like Minori's gameplay. The candy bucket that you charge with attacks then fire is kinda neat

I don't have a PC that can run Renewal so hearing that it's good is disappointing in a way, I kind of hoped it would be mediocre so I could ignore it. I never really used the intimacy stuff that they removed in the earlier games, but I still don't want to get it on PS4 out of principle.
