Bastion/Transistor (and Pyre probably, idk haven't played it yet)

All of Supergiants games have god tier OSTs and Pyre has the best.
Unlike Bastion, Transistor or Hades Pyre's soundtrack isnt part of a overarching genre. Rather Pyre uses a wide, wide array of genres with personal themes for each and every character.
For the anarchist rebel it's a heavy metal.
For the smug, arrogant industrialist it's harpsichord heavy sounding like mozart.
There is also a song that plays during climactic rites. This song changes depending on who you are facing. Seamlessly incorporating the theme of your enemy and changing the lyrics to reflect what they hold dear.
youtube.com/watch?v=dhdqJGtn25o
It shows off how amazing Darren Korbs talent is.

My favorite part of the soundtrack is the ending song. It literally sings out which fates you chose for each character. Creating a song, personal to the choices you've made and the journey you went on.
Lots of games place emphasis on choice but I think Pyre is the only one where it is true that no two players will have the same journey, or at least its extremely unlikely

I always liked payday 2s soundtrack. Ironically one of its best tracks is the Hotline Miami one.

How can you release a pure masterpiece album like The Uncanny Valley and follow it with New Model?

I don't know if it's better than hotline necessarily but i love ftl's soundtrack

He's the one for me, there's no place I'd rather be~
To the finish line, everywhere you look he's right on time!

Yea Forums, tempted to play again HM2 because I never tried the editor and it's been five years since HM2 release.

Recommend me some cool community maps, if there's something worth playing. Preferably not meme stuff

Payday 2
Risk of Rain
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Lethal League Blaze

i love Carpenter Brut

new model was pretty good. The tracks are great live, but the track with vocals was pretty ass lol

There not being a bad track in this game is an understatement. It's more accurate to say that there is no track in this game that is short of spectacular.

These are all great, too.

Attached: 5277054.png (538x564, 126K)

New Model was great though, Uncanny Valley was corny as fuck and a mediocre followup to the perfection that was Dangerous Days

Excess sounds fantastic though

I'd agree with this. I always loved it but I don't think I fully appreciated it or understood how much went into it until I replayed the game a while back in anticipation of Reroll. Absolute labor of love

I've been thinking about going to see Perturbator on the 27th. Is it worth?

New Model to me is just James going in a completely different direction to his prior albums. I still liked it, and I even like Excess, but it's just going more and more towards a completely different genre.

came here to post this

Is that even a problem? The synthwave fad is quickly dying out and most of its artists are trying out different things (Chromatics, Carpenter Brut, Gost). If Perturbator did another Dangerous Days derivative like Uncanny Valley it would just prove he's creatively bankrupt and he'll die with the fad. His new stuff is the perfect evolution of his sound, the mixing is top notch, his ideas are more daring, and all it feels so much grander and more professional.

Vantablack was poop tho

its ass tho, maybe it isnt ass but definitely not better than hotline miami

Jet Set Radio!

I saw him live and it was great. If its a smaller venue you can easily meet him afterwards, he's chill and it'll be a good time

Dude Sex HR

you're fucking crazy uncanny valley is easily the best thing he's done. Dangerous Days is overly simplistic and doesn't execute on the whole cyberpunk x horror movies aesthetic anywhere near as well.

never played this but considering perturbator worked on the ost, that alone has always made me want to play it. Some day, plugging my fav song by him though this shit is nuts. I wish he was working on the cyberpunk 2077 ost

Jingle Jangle Jingle it is

Can confirm. Also, the studio albums don't make justice, for live concert he brings his mate for live drums.

He's just started doing that in late 2018, saw him without the drummer and it was still great because he rearranges the tracks for the live show, so you aren't hearing exactly what's on the albums. Wish I could have seen him with the live drums though, that sounds like it would bring it to another level.

I still go back to it.
Even my favourite other game OSTs (Arcanum, for example) are marred by succeeding extremely well at some things and not others, Hotline just nailed it across the board.

It's metal. After March he's done in Europe, you can catch up with him in a US concert

unlikely, I saw him in Australia lol. I'll be lucky if he ever comes to my city again so I'm just glad I got to see his live show/meet him when I had the chance

That suck mate, he'll get around to Straya I'm sure.

you are a little baby

Attached: jsrf1024.gif (1024x768, 220K)

one day hopefully, when I saw him we shot the shit for a little while and it was hard for him to even bring his whole electronic and stage set up over here, let alone a show that's basically double the size of the old one. All I can hope for is that shit getting sorted out or him suddenly becoming popular enough to afford it haha.

My nigga

Nier automata

What's with the HLM threads lately?
I don't mind

Considering the levels were literally designed around the tracks playing in them, I can't.

I can't but THPS2 comes close.

Brutal Legend

Easy, even though it's kind of cheating. I'd also nominate Xenoblade Chronicles, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Rez, MGR:R, and Streets of Rage 2.
Also great, though I think WANDA WANDA is sub-par. Que Sera Sera is the best track.

Mighty Switch force 1+2
Killing floor 2

emm... i think that overall hm2 is an inferior game, but one thing it does better than hm1 is the soundtrack. It just has way more enrgetic and memorable tracks fit for the levels

Depends on what you mean with best soundtrack. If you mean music that fits the game i would go with LISA or Bastion. If you mean general music i agree with you.

no u

It's good. The same guy did Splinter Cell Double Agent which also had a strong OST, though still inferior to the true GOAT: Chaos Theory.

Only Carpenter Brut is allowed to only release gold.
Everybody needs a stinker every once in a while.

Hotline Miami is definitely god-tier so I can't really deny you. I can only list my other favourites in no particular order:

Nier Automata
DOOM
Diablo 2
Mass Effect 1
Last Ninja 2 youtube.com/watch?v=Q8LWIyF_uxk
