FOXCONN - - - you know what it is. it's the largest factory in the world. responsible for making almost all the consoles/games we had. Gameboys, GBA SP, Nintendo DS/3DS, PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox... my childhood...
with 200k employees in the largest of its factories ~ in Shenzhen, China ~ living and sleeping there, the factory is big as a city.
it often happens suicides there. over 14 suicides around 2010. You have to work if you want to eat in China.
it gave me chills when I read about it for the first time in 2017.

In Brazil, all the employees of some company are defended in the most varied ways with laws, which require diverse benefits for everybody. This is great for the employee, creating a fairer society and making work enjoyable for many. In China, the laws do not defend the workers very well, because this is not in the interest of companies or the government, which survives in the world market thanks to cheap labor. For the costs to be low, everyone works all day, without weekend, vacations, or anything other than a ridiculous salary.

Many workers can not stand the pressure and kill themselves by jumping from the building where they work. To avoid this, the Chinese have created the "perfect solution" to the problem. By their own will, with no law or obligation coming from the government, the companies decided to create something revolutionary to solve all their problems:

They put nets in turns of the buildings, so that who jumps to kill itself falls in the net and can return to the work soon after, without messing up the sidewalk, to put funeral expenses or to generate a rebellion among employees. You can not complain about Chinese creativity and effectiveness ...
