Sup Yea Forums. I've always had an interest for the NPCs in Oblivion (TES4), from their ridiculous faces to the Radiant AI system that underpins all their activity. After a fun experience with a certain NPC on my Xbox version of the game, an idea occurred to me. Would it be possible to create an NPC that slowly spreads like a virus throughout Tamriel, to the point where it replaces all other NPCs in the game? Think about it - an NPC that moves spreads in either a random pattern or a pattern with predefined checkpoints (e.g. major population centers) in order to "infect" the entire map.
I've run multiple tests using this concept in the past. I believe this will be the last one. The new additions to this test will be:
- A single Parasite NPC that leeches off of other NPCs and is the enemy of the two viruses / everyone else. It cannot actually reproduce, though it can create lesser versions of itself that will follow it around. It gets progressively stronger the more people it saps the life from. - Giants have been properly fixed to behave correctly and receive the correct stat changes. Giants can no longer evolve along the normal path, but rather represent an alternative end to a viral NPC's evolution. - Doctors have been given a disinfect touch spell in addition to their target one.
Previous features include:
- Two competing NPC viruses that infect other NPCs and reproduce via mitosis on their own. These viruses travel from city to city at random on an individual basis and attack the other NPCs therein. - Evolution for the viral NPCs based on probabilities and the amount of damage they've received / lived through. - Doctors and Crusaders to fight against the viral NPCs.
After this test, I will likely be uploading the mod to the Nexus. Interested to see it, Yea Forums?
Nickies, you might like Oblivion a little too much.

This looks like something I'd enjoy please continue

>doctors have been given a disinfect touch spell in addition to their target one. So doctors can return people back? Cool. I was hoping you'd find a way to do that.
Wyatt Collins
Running so far out of the map that you tore reality asunder wasn't enough for you, huh?
Gabriel Williams
Well, here's the thing. I can either have it turn people back into a generic NPC or it can just kill them. For effect I've set it to the former, but I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea.
Ok. So if I understand a special named npc can get infected turn into a Nickies and a doctor can disinfect them into a generic named npc not the original named. Can cured people be reinfected or do they have a survivor bonus to resist like chickenpox?
Mason Carter
That pic is of a previous test, in which the NPCs were headed to Anvil from Kvatch camp. The new test will begin shortly.
Let the first trial run allow them to be reinfected. Later on if you want you can then see the effects of a large mass of immune people.
John Green
Found a compromise - any NPC in the "Anti-Virus" faction (doctors, crusaders, cured people) are now generally resistant to getting infected (they have under half the chance of actually getting infected with the infect spell is used on them compared to normal NPCs).
Test is beginning. Male clones spawning in Chorrol, females in Cheydinhal. Parasite NPC spawning near a cave TBD.
Haha yea of course hahaha what do you mean haha don't be silly hahaha
This is autistic as fuck and I am hooked, godspeed OP.

How can I love a game this much Yea Forums?

Why does your Oblivion look worse than Morrowind?
Angel Thomas
because he's rendering an insane amount of NPC's at once

You really think this shit is possible on Xbox 360? One glitched erratic clone of the Player Character who acts strangely is one thing. Having an army of organized clones who specifically turn their enemies into clones of themselves is another.

This thread looks interesting, what did I miss in the earlier ones
Lincoln Adams
this is the part where you fall down and bleed to death
make a video of the entire experiment and put it on youtube, you have my like
Nicholas Martin
I agree he shouldn't be revived, but he was simply not given enough targets to absorb before shit it the fan.
Christopher Lopez
Is this supposed to be some kind of royal rumble? What are the factions? Because I mostly just see clones raping normal NPCs, regardless of if there are other types of clones nearby. Like blockheads, female bretons, and lizards all in the same area. Exception with the crusaders.
>another Nickies thread Can this madman be stopped? Are there no limits to his autism?

nickies black held the line

Are you going to make this mod available for download eventually?
Andrew Jones
Yes, he mentioned in the OP he's going to upload it to Nexus.

getting sleepy, guys might not make it

We're all going to make it.

>a Black got infected should turn into a super virus or something

It would be interesting if the clones retained stats, equipment and spells. But I understand that's way too big.

Nickies ffs do you even look at the crap that infest Yea Forums's catalog at any moment? post whatever you feel, it would surely be better than anything else concurrently posted
Well that concludes the final stream! Some memorable moments from this one, that's for sure. I'll be making clips and such later, and the mod will be up on Nexus within a week. I need to rebalance some stuff. But, I'll keep my word. This is the final thread dedicated to the clone infestation / viral NPC idea. I hope you enjoyed them, anons!
I'll hang around here for a while. If anyone has any questions about the concept, the various tests, balancing, any of my past threads, or any of the concepts that were referenced that you don't get the reference to, I'd be happy to reply! I'll otherwise just be dumping screenshots.
Until next time, anons!
I get ideas like this more often than I should though so . . . probably won't be that long. Also I have an interest in experimenting with Skyrim SE with this concept
what's the deal with m'aiq? you kept returning to him but why
Adam Cook
M'aiq was seemingly immune to the virus during the first test
Jordan Carter
Early in these tests, Maiq was one of the only NPCs that could outrun the clone hordes, so anons quickly took a liking to his survival in these experiments. Also, he has one of the more interesting travel + search AI Packages in the game. So, I check up on him from time to time. Also I just like his dialogue.
Feeling creative so I'm gonna make a new one of these. Nickies or anons who have seen a lot of the more unknown stuff, tell me ideas of what to include.
Add that Nickies is the fastest calculated video game character of all time
Tyler Green
I mean, I could, but should I? Additionally, I'm happy to say that at one anons request I'm trying to get some footage up on YT: youtube.com/watch?v=1PcwwOWEWdQ
Did anyone ever explain Nickies Black's behaviour? Like the reasoning behind the equipment changing and the ability to wield two summons? I'm assuming the latter has something to do with one summon being tied to Nickies Black and one summon being tied to Nickes because of some clone fuckery but I dunno. I'm sure some autist has dug into the programming behind it all.
Logan Long
Newfag here. Explain the basics of Nickies.
Zachary Martin
To this day, not that I know of. Since the original thread some even weirder stuff has popped up from time to time, such as Black randomly running to random locations and suddenly being able to emote and have conversations with other NPCs (and I made sure to clip it all on the DVR service). I still have no idea how a lot of it is even possible.
My name isn't actually "Jinja Baker" though, it's a username I made as a reference to the band Cream's drummer.
Last YT vid for the night will go up here when it's done processing, it's the entire rest of the first test run: youtu.be/8D_McukK5SA
Came to fame because a glitched clone of his protagonist gained sentience and terrorized Tamriel while breaking the rules of the game
Daniel Hughes
It got nuked by wikia admins because the Todd Howard article joked that he was a Jewish plant trying to trick Nickies all along without any kind of disclaimer of satire (as that would've taken away from the humor)... a real shame. I wish it could be remade but not if it meant compromising LORE
There's two main things to understand: Nickies Black and the Void Runs. Nickies Black was a permanent glitched invincible corrupted clone that Nickies made a thread about years ago which became a copypasta. The Void runs involved Nickies trying to get to the end of a blank space that's past Oblivion's world and that's where the Todd memes and the wiki came from.
Jaxon Russell
Where can I find a archive of past threads?

>Came to fame because a glitched clone of his protagonist gained sentience and terrorized Tamriel while breaking the rules of the game I think I heard of this before... Were can I learn more?
