Have you fought the ninja lizards you encounter with Dante? He fights those on DMD and they're annoying as fuck because the opportunities to attack them are so limited, it's frustrating to have your demons chase them but not really able to keep up with them. Also they basically one shot you. Granted he's still easy but I just wished Shadow stuck to targets better.

V's gameplay is literally the most fun in the entire game. Love him.

DMC3SE DMD is much harder and I don't think they'll ever make a difficulty that difficult again unless you count S-ranking Hell or Hell, which is a trophy if you're into that.

I like V as a concept. Hell I love his charecter and his taunts. Mechanically he feels bad to play. You mash and get SSS. I'm on SoS and I am getting SSS every fight. It feels hard to style because you're constnatly moving with V to avoid enemies so Griffon will do his blast orb when I'm trying to do back + forward inputs. So you just end up mashing because trying to line up combos is kinda unfun. Nero has tons of tech and Dante is Dante. I feel if V moved with the summons it would be better.

I'm not sure why they didn't just do better Chaos Legion gameplay refinement for V's gameplay. If they took away the RPG elements and enhanced the AI for Griffin and Shadow and adding some more options over attacking backing up and etc. Nightmare is already practically there with the amount of control you get over him. But I guess that wouldn't be fitting in a DMC game so I felt like the gameplay designers gave you direct control over the summons because it wasn't a DMC game overwise. I'm not sure exactly what you could do to salvage it besides that because the main issue for me is trying to coordinate Shadow and Griffin to do any comboing doesn't work when they have to share directional inputs practically and I find the effectiveness of trying to do combos vs just mashing the Griffin and Shadow attacks with some holds randomly is worse than just mashing. So to reduce cognitive load, I just make dodging anything my priority and read poetry when possible while mashing the attacks.

im honestly disappointed they stopped caring about environments and atmosphere after the first game, the aesthetic and music was so much better than all of the games that came after.

i suppose it probably has more to do with it originally being a resident evil game so it has a real horror vibe that they didn't bother keeping for the sequels but still, i always saw that as part of the identity along with the cheesy dialogue

Im no amateur myself when it comes to hack and slashes and i beat Ninja Gaiden 2 on master ninja and got all the achievements back when its first came out on the 360 and its still to this day my favorite hack and slash.

You are spot on about V skill ceiling.
The camera is you enemy when it comes to using V casue his summons can still be attacked while off screen even though enemies will never start attacking the player if you dont have the camera focused on them.
And its also tough to focus on one enemty and try to weaken him in time before an enemy decide to take a swipe at V which will force you to stop hitting the current enemy and use the summons to escape which will reset them to Vs current postion.

With Dante and Nero you have the option of maneuverability and attack at the same time,but its not really possible to do both with V .
Either you focus on attacks or you focus on running and getting away to space yourself out and start over on attack where as with Dante and Nero once you get an enemy you can beat the shit out of them untill they dissapear and move onto the next

Actually it seems like Urizen came up with the whole demon tree plan. Vergil just wanted to separate himself to immediately go and fight against Dante. While Urizen had no want to do any such thing. He wanted to rule the underworld as king and needed the fruit to do so. V wanted to kill Urizen quickly and reunite with him, even before he ate the fruit because he was scared that nothing would be able to kill him otherwise. The fruit was never part of Vergil's plan, that collapsed as soon as he separated himself.

Use Helter Skelter to break the shield the first time quickly. Then you use Punchline breakage to keep him stunned long enough so that the shield doesn't pop back up.

Git gud at breaking the crystal instead. Pasta and Helter Skelter do a lot to it. Use stuff like launchers and that one dodge attack to get around laser attacks and keep the pressure going

When gliding on shadow, you will jump off edges very far. Then you can use the teleport and then griffon glide to get the rest of the way.

You don't even need to do the dash off edge thing. You can just jump -> B -> B -> RB+forward+B -> Griffon

I think they needed to completely relinquish directional inputs from Shadow and Griffin combos and offload it to the AI. The AI would then make the current directional input moves work via more context sensitivity about an enemy's location(in the air, lying down, on the ground). That would've made things a lot better in my opinion but yeah it is not a perfect solution because you lose control over comboing and variety since this doesn't work with all moves but to be honest, you already can't do combos in the present state so it would've been no worse if they made that change. But there is no perfect way to do this other than resorting to RTS-like control and that doesn't work for an action game. Hopefully Itsuno figures this out before Dragon Dogma 2 somehow via either simplification or more AI control.

Yes, he was. None of it was a lie, he just wants to rejoin with Urizen and settle things with Dante, which is potentially him trying to commit suicide. If it was a lie, then he would have tried to delay them from killing Urizen until he got the fruit, but he kept telling them to hurry. Vergil is just worried that he and Dante are too different and they will continue to fight about petty shit and that Vergil will continue to take it too far in wanting to beat him. Dante doesn't help with this either though. If Vergil had never associated his happy life with beating Dante, it would have never gone that far though. He seems to have moved passed that by the end and realized Dante is his happy life, rather then an obstacle.

The only reason they did this was to make the audience question if he actually was lying or not. You're suppose to question Vergil's motives and then be shocked with the Nightmare fight and finding out that they represent Vergil's nightmares, which means that Vergil's whole "I need to beat Dante" comes from repressed parts of his psyche.

The twist isn't that Vergil was lying, it's that he's trying to suicide by hyping Dante up enough to kill him. It's not enough just to die as V and let Dante kill Urizen. He needed to fight Dante properly, one last time, because fighting Dante is the only happiness either of them have known while in each other's company. Lady was right, they have a sick twisted pleasure from fighting.

Let's talk about how the Bringer Knuckle is actually a complete fucking game changer and it's exactly what Nero needed?

One of the silliest parts of playing Nero is that like half his moves have crazy knock back on them, so you're constantly snatching enemies back to you. It was alleviated by giving him Hard Line and Pay Line, but those were the two options of getting in without crazy knockback. Hard Line even has a bunch of lag on the end so it's iffy.

But being able to stuff an enemy's knockback with a quick Bringer Knuckle, suspending them right in front of Nero for a second? It's fucking amazing. It's completely changed up how I combo with him.

Hell, his DT in general is huge for Nero and I wish they introduced it way earlier in the game. I guess the intention though is that you get it at the end for STORY, and then just play with it in all the later difficulties. I'm guessing DMD is built around having all the tools.

Nero can be fun but the devil breakers gimmick limits the fuck out of his playstyle, and I don't want to waste red orbs constantly replenishing my supply when I have so much other shit to spend them on. Thankfully his devil trigger expands his moveset to a point where he's decent even without any devil breakers.

I definitely prefer DMC5's level design to previous games but there's still some flaws like invisible walls, constant one-way drops, etc. Invisible walls were a necessity on the PS2 but in 2019 it just means the environmental artists didn't communicate properly with the level designers.

I completely agree. Nero is really bad in this game and it feels like a downgrade from DMC4. Let me give an example. He plays smoothly and I can actually get a SSS much more easily with moves that connect it's not relient heavily on using limit breakers to get an SSS rank.

What i did was trickster lvl 3 or 4, when you can teleport. And simply teleport towards vergil when he comes into you / the blades stop circling around you.
Also do the same shit when he does that AOE judment cut. When yamato flashes bright, teleport.

No I am actually good with Nero you dumbass. I do not have any problems facing enemies at all or even bosses. But gaining to an SSS rank is harder than usual. An SS rank and even an S is easy.

Its Break Age is still useful since you can't be staggered out of your animation with a charged Buster from the cybernetic arm, and it doesn't dip into your DT to do that.

Why is it so fucking easy to reach S with Balrog? It's fucking ridiculous.

Not really sure what to tell you man, I was pulling SSS with Nero on my first playthrough, before I even got NG+ Nero with DT. SSS was harder with Dante and V for me

I think you get them regardless. With Nero I had Nico say, "Come on, you can do better than that!" and with Dante/Vergil, Dante said, "Looks like we tied again" or something, but I still got both cutscenes.
