We hated it when it came out, but we began liking it after Skryim came out.

Yes its the best Elder scrolls game.

Yea Forums hates everything

personally, i like oblivion's quests, especially the dark brotherhood ones, the graphics are shit but can be made more bearable with mods, the buggy and silly voice acting is charming at worst hilarious at best, good music, has captain jean luc picard and that guy who died in season 1 of GoT in it

Yes user, we do. Don't you guys?

It feels like the middle child to me, I do enjoy it but it's biggest flaw is it's bland world, sure you can say Skyrim is bland, It can be dull, but distinctly dull, each region of Cyrodiil feels the same bar bruma, the city's are unique but the land they're in is copy paste hills and vallys

Also I feel ike all the npcs feel too nice, there dialogue and line delivery is too warm especially compared to how shity npcs treated you in morrowind

Trashcore fantasy for people too stoned to read trashcore fantasy like Tolkien.

>caring about the story

>NOT caring about the story
Go back to your bing bing wahoos, manchild.

Extremely bad game, indefensible unless you're a 360 nostalgiababby

I was very impressed with it when I was 10 and I consider it one of my favorite games of all time but I get too bored playing it now.

Yes

The only thing Oblivion had going for it was decent quests and Shivering Isles. Other than that it is the weakest TES entry.

I wanted to get into it. I really did. But I can't stand the extremely boring setting. Fucking grassy plains and forests. Even Skyrim looked more interesting.

Quests are the only thing that matters in an RPG

Fuck off, autist.

What advantages does skyrim have over it?

Story and immersion in the world are the most important thing in an RPG. There can't be a story without good writing and there can't be immersion without a vibrant, textured world. Both of which Oblivion sorely lacked.

If sidequests are the most entertaining part of the experience you've made a misstep in your game.

Pretty much garbage and universally hated by every somewhat serious RPG player at the time, of course neo-Yea Forums thinks it's a "beloved classic" just as trash like Mass Effect, Dragon Age or Halo.

playing Oblivion on 360 helped me escaped from the hell that was high school, so I'm pretty grateful

>Story and immersion in the world are the most important thing in an RPG.
So Oblivion and especially Skyrim are the fucking worst still?

>he tells an autistic cat that he's autistic

What's important or not in an RPG is if it offers roleplaying, which Oblivion does in a shitty way but still much better than Skyrim.

You can't say with a straight face that Skyrim isn't cooler looking and more immersive than Cyrodiil

Oblivion was my first "next gen" game as a kid, but I don't think it's just nostalgia that makes me love it since I dislike most of the other AAA titles that came out between 2006-2008.

It's so bad it's good.

"wowee"

I stopped watching him a little bit after the started playing New Vegas, but he reignited my love for the game, even if it's deeply flawed

>So Oblivion and especially Skyrim are the fucking worst still?

You're not wrong. But 'lol vikings' is better than vague renaissance fair fantasy setting.

I'm tempted to say Skyrim barely qualifies as an RPG.

Not listing Daggerfall/Arena etc because even when I was younger I thought it was shit. Fuck procedural generated literally everything

>Overall ease of Gameplay (intuitive)
Skyrim>Oblivion>Morrowind

>Overall depth of Gameplay (skills etc)
Morrowind>Oblivion=Skyrim

>Overall appearance
Skyrim>Morrowind>>>>>>>>>>Oblivion
Morrowind has a better feel but it's still old and polygon-y

>Lore
Morrowind>Oblivion>Skyrim

>MAIN Quests
Morrowind>Skyrim>Oblivion
>Guild Quests (eg. factions)
Morrowind>Oblivion>>>>>Skyrim
>Side Quests (fetch this rock)
Morrowind>Skyrim>Oblivion

Takeaways
Voice acting and "3D" ruined Oblivion, but it had some nice stuff like the brotherhood/thieves guild things. Shivering isles was great compared to the main game but that doesn't excuse the main game.
also
>lmoa jungle

Dragons and cutting the fuck out of the main quest and probably forcing the game to completion ruined Skyrim, as the main quest was hot ass since you couldn't really make any meaningful choices that mattered and cities were small and shit.
also
>Dragons

Morrowind had an extremely "dungeons and dragons" feel to it so it aged like milk in terms of combat. Most of us don't care since we played it back in the day, but even when I reinstall I use mods that let me get stats regardless of leveling my 'main skills' and remove horrible DLC bugs like the brotherhood destroying me at level 1.

TL:DR
They're all good games that are ruined in one way or another by bethesda/Todd

I wish I wouldn’t lose interest in it every time I get to Kvatch.

Well, if you're saying so, then I guess its true.

Will we start liking Skyrim when TES6 comes out?

godlike bait bro

wowee guys wowee

>Oblivion has better lore than Skyrim

Yes, there is a lot of lore surrounding Cyrodil that is far better than the lore for Skyrim. Skyrim implemented its lore a lot better though. Oblivion should've been a jungle remember?

>"Oblivion was NOT an interesting setting!" is somehow good lore

Explain what Oblivion did to expand the lore in an interesting way. I'll wait.

Attached: enb 2018_06_05 23_35_02_73.jpg (1920x1080, 378K)

I think we're misunderstanding each other. I'm saying the background lore within the TES universe that applies to Oblivion is better than the background lore that applies to Skyrim. Oblivion was hot garbage and barely did anything right with it's lore so I see why you're arguing with me.

Cyrodill wasn't a jungle. There was no Roman motif anywhere. Everything was generic fantasy renaissance fair.

Attached: enb 2018_06_05 23_29_09_83.jpg (1920x1080, 382K)

I said that in my big post where after the takeaway for oblivion I typed >lmoa jungle

They really ruined oblivion

>zoomers thinking bethesda haven't been changing the lore since daggerfall

Shit game with good characters and quests.

You should've probably said Cyrodiil's lore instead of Oblivion's, then. I'm talking about the lore explored ingame, aka The World Eater, the Thu'um, the possibility of the Dragonborn being a Shezarrine...

Attached: Alduins_Wall.png (1360x768, 1.91M)

Yeah I fucked up my post and then didn't really go back and work on it since I figured a typical elder scrolls thread usually goes to shit quickly these days so why bother.

yes

Has more integrity than skyrim

Fuck yea we do.

make up your own mind you fucking NPC

True. At least we can discuss more than sex mods for the umpteenth time.

what do you think they'll remove from 6
will they get rid of skills like fallout did

Best RPG ever created.

After 4, 76 and The Witcher 3's reception, they'll probably try and making it at the very least just as Skyrim. They've always loved TEs more than Fallout, as it actually is their own thought up IP. Not that they haven't tried to fuck it up with paid mods, Creation Club and Blades.

I loved it as a teenager and I must have sunk several thousand hours into it. But I'm fully aware of how horribly designed it was becuase a huge chunk of the team had zero talent or imagination. The world is a literal random gen. forest with zero reason to explore, and the dungeons offer no incentive to crawl through. The engine is clunky and the animations make the game feel sluggish. The only redeeming parts of the game are the quests and the AI which bethesda never utilized properly anyway because they were afraid of it going fucking haywire instead of just letting it do what it wanted. Hence why skyrim's AI was scaled back by 90%

I'm interested to see how the fan recreations (Skyblivion, Skywind) turn out if they do come out. With all the RPG elements restored to skyrim's engines and an actual competent dev team we might have a decent game on our hands

Hyped for seeing Cyrodiil durinf the Fourth Era?

Attached: fJb3sFA.jpg (1920x1080, 858K)

Mixed feelings, it easily had the best guild/side quests of the series, and the towns were pretty comfy despite being generic. I think the major downsides were how level scaling was implemented and the setting in general. Overall still a pretty good game.

I don't know, why don't you buy a few copies and tell us?

That project is even further behind than Skyblivion and is ten times as ambitious, especially as they can't just port things like quests straight over. They should have started smaller like Tamriel rebuilt. After Bruma, do county chorrol, then work your way around.

It's ok. It's doesn't really hold up to the standards of its series and is outclassed by most of the other games but that doesn't mean it's bad on its own. Battlespire is the only truly bad Elder Scrolls game.

i liked oblivion until i realised that there's no armour past glass/deadric, no point to explore oblivion portals (seen one, seen em all), no more new enemy types, and this is all after like 25 hours of playing this 'RPG'. i honestly don't see the reason to keep playing. what do you guys do in the game if you're the type of person to play oblivion hundreds of hours
