It's somewhat consistent between the same demon: so basically if you try an option with a particular demon and it doesn't work then it probably won't work next time either
If you give them money then they are more likely to run away I feel, if you reject or cheat a few requests then they are much less likely to run

Nukes are always a problem in Japan. They live within short distance to three nuclear powers (plus North Korea) and have had constant issues with nuclear power. Nukes will never not be relevant as a hot-button topic for the foreseeable future.

I've only played 4, 4A, Soul Hackers, and Devil Survivor, but I love the SMT series.

Gameplay reasons

Lorewise some demon exist as a race, Pixie is just one of many Pixies. For demons where only one of them are suppose to exist there's really no explanation, the games just play this off and will have demons say something silly like "Say hi to my sister for me".

Usually they were kept fusion exclusive, so you could only ever see one at a time

The demon itself just acts as a "shell" for the idea of Pixie. The shell can die over and over or even exist in multiple places at once. It all makes sense once you realize demons are just technically figments of your imagination.

If they aren't different individuals then it is not two-timing, it's taking responsibility as a husband.

It's quite different in some ways but of you like DDS1 then there is no reason not to play DDS2.

Well, I won't go into too much detail but some slight spoilers here.

There are various points where you are forced to use a select number of characters so it's important to build everyone properly.

Either way every party member can be useful and really no one is absolute dead weight. Cielo can be frustrating at times due to his weakness to ALL ailments but his speed and magic allow him to still be able to fuck shit up.
Not really, though usually they will have special dialogue that sometimes references it.

You can get away with it in DDS1 but not really DDS2. You don't have to invest equal time and macca in everyone, just don't completely ignore anyone.

There's quite a bit of optional content in DDS1. If you plan to do all of it prepare for what is commonly considered the hardest superboss in a jrpg and for a hour long boss fight you can die in at any moment.

That's not what I said at all. The Japanese pride shit in IV is part of SMT's themes of old and new ideals clashing together. Japan is supposed to be the older, more traditionalist country contrasting with the more technological, innovative forces which creates conflict when people try to tip the balance between what's better for humanity and what's better for nature. It's been like that in SMT since SMT1 when American soldiers were invading Japan. Japan's been interested in this type of shit since WWII when Americans fucked up their country and forced them from being a traditionalist, agrarian country to a technological superpower almost overnight. To just say that it's Japan stroking themselves off is a very reductionist way of thinking about the series.

SMTIV isn't just patriotic though, it's that it uses other countries as a way to explain why Japan went to shit. The Ikebukuro dungeon has you battle only Chinese demons and then tries to play them as these evil foreign invaders, as if Japanese demons are different and these civil creatures instead.

Traditions don't need to repeated. SMT is held back by tradition in cases. It feels like Atlus doesn't understand why people actually like the series at times.

I think Neutral would get along with Chaos more than Law.

I am finishing up 2 atm and it is definitely recommended to play it after 1, think of it as a two-part story where the first part is the set-up. Shit gets real crazy in 2.

As others have mentioned, make sure not to completely neglect anyone or it'll bite you in the ass later. 2 does the same thing as 1 where you lose some party members at certain points, but to a greater degree. It's also more viable to have your party members branch out into different skills due to mantras working on a grid system rather than straight lines.

I miss the weird looking demons, now with p4 and p5 everything has been coolized.

If you own a 3DS I'd suggest playing the Overclocked version of Devil Survivor instead; if not then just go ahead and start with Devil Survivor. It doesn't have any dungeon crawling, but will teach you the basics of fusion and skill names.

None of the demons in IV were designed by Doi you retard, Doi only started drawing demons in IV:A. The new demons on IV were by various guest artists, most of them veterans of the toku/sentai genre.

Why is Mastema so based? It's a shame that he wasn't relevant plot-wise in IVA, even though he was one of Akira's party members and made sure that Nanashi will get picked up by humans. It's amazing how loyal he was, considering that he took revenge on Archangels after they killed Akira.

I think this feature could work, solely for the intention of providing something new to gameplay. After all, we did have artificial demon slaves in the Devil Summoner series, the Zoma Zeed. I imagine it'd work something like, you can capture humans and forcibly bond them with demons to create a half breed. Of course that sounds like something solely bound to the Chaos alignment, but maybe a prison of sorts could work as well.

The difference is that it didn't throw in the cheesy ANIME kind of tropes to get you to like them. Kagatsuchi exists as an avatar of YHVH, he is basically a mouthpiece for him. In the reason endings by allowing Kagatsuchi to create a new world you basically continue the cycle of controll YHVH had on the universe by allowing him full authority to create the new world.. In the True Freedom you revert the world back to it's previous state, which doesn't hurt YHVH but doesn't help him, thus why he is pissed. In the True Demon Ending you deny a new humanity being created. This is a massive blow as he gains his power thanks to humanity's reliance on him. Lucifer's plan is to destroy YHVH and create a new universe without his intervention, thus why you are "marching toward the final battle" in the TDE ending.

You get rid of YHVH in both endings, with the power of observation he is permanently dethroned to being just a powerful demon, That is the job the axiom wanted of you and the reason it decided to get two messiahs on that shit it wanted to fix that problem, since the first time with a single messiah and no observation did literally jack shit. Besides everyone tells the gods multiple times to fuck off and that they don't want that salvation they just want the shit with Tokyo the demons and god resolved. Bonds is the ending everyone actually wanted. SMTIV is a good starting point, Soul Hackers is a great game too but its a little old school and you might need to be little invested in the series to fully get behind it. The DeSu games are also good, they are fairly different from the others gameplay wise but the broad strokes are there and they're fun as fuck.
Ignore anyone saying Strange Journey. It has a cult following but anyone with a brain can tell you its a terrible entry point.

It's strange how wildly different Mastema is in the two games:

SJ Mastema is sneaky and only interested in his promotion. Any pleasantries he displays are an attempt to mold and control you, like some sort of mustache twirling villain.

IV Mastema is a cool guy who is pleased with whatever route you go down. Still shady as fuck, but not really interested in hierarchy and controlling others.

DeSu1 though is held back because it didn't commit to either though. It doesn't fully satisfy mainline fans since the characters are way too silly and personafags probably wanted more slice of life friendship aspects. DeSu2 at least accpeted it should be one or the other and they decided to go full weebshit at least.

A spin-off doesn't automatically means something is part of the series. A spin-off can take key ideas or themes and still be considered a spin-off in its own right. Realistically speaking, I can't understand why anybody would go with Chaos in a world full of flesh-eating demons. Most of the population would die off quickly from being swarmed by hordes of demons. People with dependents (parents with children) would be greatly hindered, the elderly have no hope, anyone who isn't athletic wouldn't be able to outrun a demon, etc. The humans that survive would have to live underground and hide all the time. They would fight and kill each other for supplies, even if the other person didn't have any. Cannibalism would happen in the scenario that food becomes scarce. The only way to actually survive comfortably is to establish your own law using vast resources, but that goes against the ideology of Chaos. As in individual, you cannot survive happily.

Persona branched itself off from the game it came from. A spin-off of a spin-off doesn't automatically make it part of the same series the first game was based around. A game can lose those things with each spin-off. The DC universe does this with a superman character (John Corben) who then has a spin-off using a minor character that his spin-off spawns. That spin-off was then considered a whole other series unrelated to Superman because of how far it branched off from that setting, despite keeping some of it's original themes and chars. Superman himself doesn't even exist in that series (Never once mentioned and things he did apparently haven't happened yet), while chars like Metallo do appear. Superman/DC aren't the only things to have done this.
