I don't want to wait that long for playable vergil, vergil in bp and his own dlc this year.

The game is actually much better than I had anticipated. I genuinely love it. Not just the gameplay aspect but almost everything else around it too. There's only one area where DMC5 didn't trump one of the older games: Temen-Ni-Gru is still the best location of all DMC games.

Second half of the game felt pretty rushed in a similar way to DMC4. Hopefully DMC6 fixes this, but for every two steps Capcom takes forward they take one back.

Not really. His gameplay feels very disconnected and way too easy, not once was I in any real danger and getting S ranks and higher was so easy I swore I was playing DmC again.

Anyone figure out some concrete rules to juggling Vergil yet? Seems like you can do some stuff worth about 2.5 aerial raves before he falls, but I'm not sure about the specifics. What I do know, is that when he starts blocking mid way through your combo in his 2nd phase, he will retaliate if you keep hitting him, but you can break his guard with guns and continue your combo.
Haven't fought him on DMD yet, but the fact that you can fight him in the air now already makes this fight better than in 3 imo.

5 has better gameplay but 3's cutscenes are virtually impossible to top. DMC3s opening will always be the greatest cutscene in video game history for how well it establishes its characters and theme.

rocket arm: press b and forget for free enemy management, hold b on the way back to rocket surf, then you can use X/Y to do a kickflip attack and speed up, jump off when you hear it beeping, hold B for long startup shoryuken that stuns literally everything in the game

Dante's first secret mission is even the same as in DMC 1 to make the reference complete

DMC3 does a few things better like the Vergil boss fights, those are still the best in the series, but DMC5 gets a lot more right mainly in gameplay terms. DMC3 is the best from a narrative standpoint, it's just so well done and the soundtrack is leaps and bounds better in the important areas but DMC5 is an extremely close second but number one in gameplay.

They will never get into their enraged state if you keep them in the air, so juggle them as much as you can, if they do they only do one attack before you can stagger them again, just pay attention they don't have those purple veins/roots around them and you know you can stagger them

I liked Gilgamesh the first time, but playing it again it has problems. It seems like it automatically throws you off, so there's no way for you to stay on him permanently no matter how good you are. Also the grab animation seems to be pretty finicky with where it activates

I prefer DMC3's story
DMC5's gameplay rivals it and in some areas surpasses it.
DMC3 has some pretty shit level design sprinkled throughout but DMC5's level design is pretty boring.
Overall can't decide. I love them both. I place DMC4 beneath both because I don't like Dante's weapon set.

when they go purple they have super armor and start going ape shit so you need to avoid them. you can just jump into the air and be fine. when they aren't purple you can combo the shit out of em

This and the environments is why I think 3 is still better than 5.

5 is very good nonetheless, DMC3 is some pretty big fucking shoes to fill.

Tested a few attacks. Basic triangle does the same damage, High Time does marginally more damage, Prop turns into a multi-hit attack that two hits for 33 damage each (Rebellion just does 60 with it).
Also tested Demon Sword Dante while I was it. Basic triangle and high time do the same damage as Rebellion.

It isn't the demon world though, it's the tree. They vary it about as much as possible with it switching between organic and bloody, frozen, very plant-like, rocky with lava, and they light it in a lot of different tones.

Dante would really benefit from the ability to switch back to the first weapon in his loadout from any point. I think it would smooth out weapon switching a lot. You're already given the option to set the loadout in a specific order, adding the ability to hold R2/L2 for a small amount of time and jump back to the first weapon would be an easy addition.

Agreed on Trish, but honestly the "OH NO NO NO" about Vergil was so fucking over exaggerated, when I got to him in game, he actually looked fucking amazing.

I'm not sure how to write him and his pets back into existence but for gameplay you could just give Vergil the book as a weapon or style and have him conjure semi-sentient recreations of the demon squad.

Maybe after some years hanging out with Dante in hell made him mellow out a bit and every now and then V's mannerisms resurface.

Vergil only wanted to remove his humanity so he could survive and fight Dante with nothing holding him back, there's no way he could have predicted what Urizen was going to do after, I certainly doubt he expected to be stuck as a human, and for the people who think V isn't Vergil I'd remind you that Urizen had none of Vergil's memories but V knew everything, and lamented about how stupid he had been in his pursuit of power.

original dante is a nerd. he's fun, he's a good character, but he's a fucking virgin and a dork on top of it, he just manages to be entertaining.

My problem with DSD is that it fundamentally changes how swordmaster works and that's a pain when the other weapons still use swordmaster in the normal way, since you have to get used to using it for the summoned swords while still staying familiar with using it for normal SM attacks. Would have much preferred if they had DSD get all the basic attack upgrades but with brand new SM moves while SSwords were their own thing, either an extra style or gun or something.

In the novel, he runs an orphanage with Kyrie, and according to Nero & Nico, Kyrie has enough to completely over cook and feed everyone in the city and then some. Nico also comments in the novel and notes that Nero always pays for her work efficiently.
