NFS games aged extremely well, even Hot Pursuit 2 still looks solid.
Imo the only NFS games you want:
Hot Pursuit 2 PS2 (PC version is an entirely different game made by different B-team developer)
Underground 1/2/Most Wanted/Carbon PC
Hot Pursuit 2010

Any other NFS games are shit or just didn't age well (pre-Hot Pursuit 2).

>just didn't age well (pre-Hot Pursuit 2).

You clearly never played NFS: Porsche Unleashed...by far the best game in the series.

>shitting on porsche unleashed

I'll end you

Backup has arrived

Is there a guide for running the older NFS games (pre and including MW)? What do I need?

Attached: 1529252872696.jpg (559x553, 45K)

This is why I keep saying NFSU looked better than the second one

I recommend to install HD roads mod. Makes quite a difference. Also try tweaking options, to reduce that awful glare.

RIDERS ON THE STORM

Yes it looks like an Android game.

What's the best game for just driving around a huge map? Please don't say euro truck.

american truck simulator

Oh look, its another retard.

Smuggler's run 2.

Test drive unlimited 2 have real size hawaii and ibiza islands

looks shit

Soo that's why pc version was shit.

>real size hawaii and ibiza islands
Only the size or buildings and shit as well?

Hot Pursuit 2010 and other Criterion made NFS games are just Burnout with NFS skin.

Fuel

youtube.com/watch?v=69e8oa85F3g

And that's a good thing

Fuel's map is xboxhueg, but you really have to like offroad buggies to enjoy it. Without the dev console the progress is PAINFULLY slow, and with the dev console there's no sense of achievement and the chance you'll lose interest very quickly.

no it isn't

Still the only remotely decent modern NFS games

Nothing really. I recently replayed all of them from Porsche 2000 to Most Wanted and didnt had an single problem on Windows 8.1.

Burnout is garbage.

>everyone skipping High Stakes
What the fuck, faggots?

so is nfs

The physics change from III made the game handle a lot more twitchy, the trracks weren't as interesting and Porsche wipes the floor with it for complexity.

RETARD.

HP2010 is actually a pretty faithful homage. MW2012 really is a Burnout reskin though. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, Paradise City was immensely fun, but Paradise City also did it better than NFS. Damage models just won't look that great if you have to adhere to licensed vehicles.

BASED and lolipilled

It's soulful as fuck, though. I actually found it less twitchy than 3, but I was playing with analog controls instead of a D-pad and digital gas/brake so maybe it just works better that way.
>the trracks weren't as interesting
The PC version includes all the tracks from 3, they even get their own dedicated Nostalgia Cup in the career mode tree before showing up as normal races. Porsche may be more complex but the one-brand aspect just kills it for me. What's an old NFS game if you aren't racing all types of exotic supercars right alongside oddball prototypes or concepts like the Schigera or GT90?

>The PC version includes all the tracks from 3

Yeah but with the slightly different scale of traffic it just about breaks the flow those tracks had when also combined with the previously mentioned physics changes. NFSIII is just a smoother game to play in general. Plus it had a far, FAR superior OST.

I kinda wish the PS1 bonus tracks made it into the PC version but alas they have never been ported.

>Plus it had a far, FAR superior OST.
That's one thing I'll definitely agree with. The loss of dynamic, track-specific soundtracks definitely hurt. NFS3 is smoother, I guess, but I just can't appreciate the 2d-image interior sprites. Same reason I can't really appreciate Doom but fucking love Quake, I guess, I'm a sucker for low-poly instead of edited photos.

>I kinda wish the PS1 bonus tracks made it into the PC version but alas they have never been ported.
I don't remember them being very good, though, and some were just crap like Caverns. I'm more irked that the PS1 versions of the normal tracks look so different and totally change the visual feel of some of them, since the PC versions changed the lighting, sky textures, time of day, etc. for both 3 and HS- usually for the worse.

Attached: empire comparison.png (1280x1728, 1.37M)

What they did to Empire City is a travesty.

Attached: Empire City.webm (720x405, 2.76M)

You mean a beat to shit, grungy dystopia setting is strange for having brand new pure white iridescent street lights instead of properly gritty yellow sodium ones? Who'da thunk? still the best fucking style even with the changes, so much goddamn detail packed in- who's gonna be able to read individual street sign posts on an actual PS1?

If an arcade racing game doesn't let you do hairpin turns at 100MPH it's garbage

Attached: ad7a749.webm (800x450, 2.98M)

Now this is pod racing!

Now that's the GOOD shit.

>you are now aware that NFSU contains noncecore
youtube.com/watch?v=XuoVmrlnkbw

I think the original Xbox NFS games went backwards in graphical quality after Underground 1. Most Wanted in particular doesn't look good on the console. Graphics are too aliased, and there was no anti-aliasing whatsoever.

Is there a racing game that I can emulate on my phone and whose controls don't feel like shit on a touch screen, or am I doomed to play Asphalt and similar shit?

I wish the projected lights didn't look like garbage on modern PCs. This is at least the case in NFS3 after modern patches.
Instead of actually illuminating, the projected lights just make the course look like it's covered in white paint.

Yeah the headlights are broken and there is no fix.

we have......... LIFDOFF

Isn't it something to do with the projector mode just overlaying white onto the textures instead of properly multiplying (to brighten the colors without washing them out)? A real shame, but honestly, what's a good 90's racing game without a little bit of jank here and there?

Even with various graphical changes and screw-ups, classic NFS games are still the absolute comfiest racing games to ever exist.

Installing this mod just messes up my game. Skips the cutscenes completely, gets stuck at loading screens and even crashes.
Don't know exactly how I screwed up that badly.

Attached: 3467586790.jpg (267x274, 32K)

Strong disagree with HP 2010, Id rather play undercover then that.

Man why are the PC UI's so fucking aswful compared to the console versions?

You might actually be retarded user - I would seek medical advice.

I'm sorry I enjoy abusing shitty AI more then HP2010.

Attached: comfy mountain driving.webm (720x405, 2.44M)

I dunno, I like the PC UI. Stuff might be spaced a little weird but I like being able to see the entire tach at once instead of the little rotating window of the PS1 versions- then again, you can play the whole game with the HUD entirely disabled and just use your ear and the actual dashboard gauges, so it doesn't really matter there, does it?

I'll still never get over how the Canyon car is just a Mustang with the lights changed, and then Ford made the next generation Mustang look suspiciously similar to the changes the Canyon car made anyway.

Why do you post things you know hurt the most?

I didn't play that one, but I did play Test Drive 2002 back in the day. I remember it being fairly enjoyable. I found it weirdly interesting that it had the same Monaco course as Gran Turismo 3.

Because no one gets to be happy.
>you will never, ever see a new game in the proper vein of the original NFSs
All they have to do is combine the handling of Forza/Forza Horizon, the details of Test Drive Unlimited, the sleek motherfucking style, original soundtracks, and car showcases of the original games (and if that means not having 400 different cars, so be it), and don't bother with open world for maximum track variety. Throw in an online PvP High Stakes mode, too.

>all those cheats which let you drive as random map props

Those were the days man.

Hot Pursuit 2010 is very damn good but I can't forgive them that the PC version doesn't have all the cars

I miss having a cockpit camera in NFS

I prefer the software render. It has it's charm (and it's one of the first racing games I had)

that track blew my mind at the time, it was the first i ever heard from them, it was love at first sight

do cheat codes even exist now

I wish that HP 2010 at least had some sort of trainer that let you drive the AI cars. Some of them looked like ripped out of oƱder NFS, like the Cobalt

You should try Wreckfest.

inferior to td eod

Wait until you see it at super high resolution and with an HD texture mod running along 120 fps locked. It's glorious.

NfS is too arcadey and Grid didn't have that satisfying thing where you upgrade your own car or switch it for a better one
Is there a game that has campaign progression that isn't quite as arcadey as NfS?

Forgot to mention: Can't be sim-tier realistic cause I don't have a wheel

45 to county, I've spotted the yellow Lamborghini. He's going over ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY!

Attached: nfs.jpg (500x720, 43K)

I like how it basically an upgraded Tokyo Extreme Racer. Racing random npcs in the street was great. Unpopular option: No police is the best part of Underground 2. It just us and the racer. Soundtrack is meh and I would rather just shove 50 eurotrack in it instead.

The Shift games were good but a completely different style of game (SimCade similar to GRID).

just started my new playthrough. cant wait till I get my rx7/8.

Attached: u2.jpg (1920x1080, 607K)

But Grid does have you swapping cars a lot.

It's just a different feeling. It's "okay do this sponsored race with this car" instead of "this is the car you've spent the last 5 missions saving up for and it's yours"

what?

NFSIII also has the best racing game intro of all time.

youtube.com/watch?v=HTd4jAXt0kc

Hasn't got the same feel sadly. I'll forever be pissed that Driven to Destruction was never a PC game (made by the same guys who made NASCAR Heat). It was perfect for it.

Which ps2 racing game had the best cars, Yea Forums? /o/ has shit taste.

No, I'm pretty sure they have shit taste.

>want to replay HP2
>remember that the PC port is hot garbage
>PS2 got lost 10 years ago
>PS2 copies are hard to find
GODDAMNIT
please tell me its emulatable

lmao how the fuck did that happen.

I mean. It's supposed to be better than the third one.

It's basically a remake of sequel, only thing it did wrong is OST. But here is mods which restores that, so it's not a big deal.

I emulated it maybe a year ago. There were some slight graphical bugs though i think (fixed with software only rendering). It may have been fixed since then. It was def playable though.

i have only slight problems emulating ps2 games.

>ffx-2 has a black bar through the screen throughout the game
>link that i used to download nfs carbon gets stuck at the loading screen
although, honestly i'm going to try to see if it's just that copy. I'll try to find another and report back
>shading is completely fucked up in destroy all humans
other games i got run pretty good though. ffx internation runs surprisingly well

High Stakes is the best

alright user
EA has oficially given up and handed YOU full creative control and AAA budget to save Need For Speed
what do you do?
Hard mode: no remakes
Dante Must Die mode:no sequel to a existing branch

When using PCSX2 make sure to use the latest nightly build. Tons of bug fixes over the latest official releases.

thanks anons
will give it a a go tonight

Something like Midnight Club 2 and name it
"Need For Speed: Tokyo" because it's was best city in MC2.

this. shit made me want a lotus esprit so bad.

I legit beat all of Carbon in less than 3 hours.
What the fuck were they thinking?

Wasting their time on this shitty wigman gimmick ,ehich ended up more annyoign than interesting.
Also some of the worst rubberbanding in any racing game I've ever seen, you can shamelessly see the AI cheat infront of your eyes.

With these flaws, it's still can't beat in shitiness of undercover.

Need For Speed 2015 aka Underground 3 is great tho user.

liar. they throw so many of those dumb territory takeover races at you to drag out the game.

I liked Undercover...

I'm serious though once you get a decent car above bottom tier you're pretty much set.
I really don't know if you can squeeze 10 hours out of the campaign. Most Wanted felt titan in comparison.

>set in a 90's fictional openworld based on the early games as NFS: World was for Most Wanted and Carbon
>multiple options for handling, from ultra arcade to simcade
>keep the current customization mechanic or scrap it, dgaf
Basically a 90's Forza Horizon + Hot Pursuit

Attached: 3A5A7050_view.jpg (1667x2500, 1.64M)

The key to Most Wanted's fun is that aerodinamics effects were exagerated to a point where braking for turns made you lose grip so it became optimal to accelerate to corner better.

>embezzle the entire budget
>buy the rights to midnight club from rockstar
>make midnight club IV

hate to break it to you but 90's means car selection would fucking suck, and 0 advertisment from manufacturers but licenses out the ass.
Not happening.

You know, you can disagree with someone. Your opinion is subjective.

TO THE WINDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

TO THE WAAAAAAALLL

>Not happening.
I know that fully well user, but you forgot that EA has oficially given up and handed ME full creative control and AAA budget, so you'll get the 90's filled cars and techno music and you WILL LIKE IT
