As for Sin Dante, it was great but it didn't pan out how I thought it would. It was just a powerup. I figured it was

Just finished it, kinda disappointed really but it wasnt bad. Camera pissed me off for the most part getting stuck behind everything and the bosses were forgettable outside of cerberus and vergil. Music was shit outside of Devil Trigger all the boss themes were generic shit. Worst part was probably the story. First half the game it's just a ancient evil awakens and you gotta stop it then nope it's just butthurt vergil with Dissociative identity disorder ''Ok you beat me now we're cool I'm gonna stop and hang out with you guys, sorry for destroying the world bruh''

The break age grab has super armor but that's it.

It did feel like this was the first time Dante lost his way. Vergil and Dante were not fighting over anything worthwhile, just a desire to see who is more powerful. Dante at the very end had become just as misguided as Vergil had been. It took Nero to stop them both and show them how wrong they were. True strength came from his desire to protect, to do the right thing. It is a pretty kino ending, even if I disliked the V and Urizen being Vergil.

Yes, it was like Dante felt some obligation to do something with his brother because he demolished a city and killed a lot of people, but wasn't quite sure of it. Or maybe he was just aching for a little nostalgic sibling fight.

As a matter of fact I wasn't quite fucking sure of it either. He went full retard and made himself into a demon, and a human who worked a lot to have said demon defeated. So I suppose the story is without a realy villain in the end? Because Urizen seemed uninterested in everything, and just wanted to do some demonic gardening.

Yeah the game wasn't bad, but the story wasn't the DMC3-surpassing kino I was hoping for. Maybe it was trying to juggle too many characters, and the wrap up was too hasty.
Still it's above 4 and somewhere around 1 in narrative department.
If we don't count the awesome eye-candy of the cutscenes, which is natural considering the technological advances.

Well Urizen really should have been his own character. It was a huge mistake to make Urizen and V into Vergil. All you needed to do was have V be the only fragment of Mundus left and Urizen just either be some random guy like Spardas own brother (mirroring the Dante Vergil thing) or just a completely new guy.

There is no good reason to keep tying back new characters into old ones. Vergil should have been trying to stop Urizen (maybe Urizen was using Vergil like Mundus) and V should have been a reincarnated Mundus trying to reclaim his throne from a usurper.

What we got was a bit disappointing.

Return to the prologue with Nero's DT (or maybe Buster arm) when you break Urizen's crystal when he starts to reform it use R2/Buster and it will interrupt it letting you do more and more damage and eventually kill Urizen

It's something that used to happen in certain time intervals, a demon that would consume the special fruit, filled with human blood, would become the king of the underworld due to immense power. That's how Mundus got the throne. Sparda then fucked up the procedure by separating the two worlds.
I'm not sure how Urizen got it kickstarted again, though.

I found it nice how it's essentially a red apple in an illusion of Eva's garden, and then it features two brothers fighting.

5 provides a recap of the previous games but I recommend playing them in release order to get a feeling of the evolution of the series and catch little tidbits the recap video might not.

Aside from 2 and the 2013 reboot they're all at least pretty fun to play. I say try 2 and see if you can tolerate it but don't feel bad if you want to skip that, and definitely skip the reboot.

My first run was fine but now I keep crashing randomly. Crashed once in the prologue, twice in mission 4 and now once in 8.

While the ending wasn't what I was expecting, I'm still liking it but wish there was more to it. Maybe there was no way to make it live up to the hype of 10 years of waiting. But it didn't quite end the story. It just kinda ends in the three having wacky adventures. Why not show Nero growing up a bit more with children and naming them after them after the Brothers? Why not have the Brothers either kill each other or realize they have to sacrifice themselves to kill the tree to end their rivalry?

Is the "V is easy" meme something that always exposes shitters the best? I mean it IS probably easier to get through the lower difficulties with him by buttonmashing because of how hard his basic kit is to actually use intelligently but that just shows that you are an actual buttonmasher whose first instinct was to not even try

He seems very shallow in terms of combo potential though and I think he is kind of a failed experiment for this franchise in his current state. His gameplay has an interesting concept and I think it only really clicked for me at the boss "rush" mission when I started making the summons "dodge" at appropriate times. He just tests your ability to multitask to a retarded degree since its basically like controlling two devil arms running around who dont obey you at frame perfect speeds unless you manage their positioning equally perfectly at all times

So you have to look at the crowd of enemies, V, shadow and griffon at the same time while also keeping track of the different motions for them. I think they should have honestly made it so that shadow instantly warps to anything you lock onto though so at least your melee attacks would be instantly responsive

In a recent interview Matt said there is no DLC after Bloody Palace, that if people want more they should reach out to Capcom big shots, so that devs have easier time talking them into it.

They almost did, then Nero stopped them. The message of the series was that the Human side of the characters gave them real strength, not their demonic heritage. Nero beat Dante and Vergil at the end because his strength came from a need, not a desire to prove that he was better than someone else.

Dante and Vergil were misguided, their rivalry was turning them into demons (Dante even risked his own Humanity and Vergil cast it aside TWICE. I thought the end was kino, for what we had.

I agree on most of your points. V can easily come back at least, I have no doubt they weren’t confident about his reception so they left themselves open to getting rid of him or resurrecting him via book. As for the main DMC crew, yeah it feels kind of weird they treated as a family of screwed up orphans who killed their families and wallow in depression and demon murder. Like, I get it, it makes sense, but I’m not sure I like it. I believe it’s meant to contrast with Nero having his shit together thanks to Kyrie and Credo, but that’s a little more Nero wank than I’m comfortable with.

I've found about half of them so far and I'm nearing the end of the game. I think they're overall harder to find. In a couple of V missions I actually saw the pentagrams but couldn't find where to stand to activate them.

I'm having trouble as well. Except for the first one, they seem to blend in a little too well, and then you still need to line them up.

The fact is that V doesn't really require anything besides button mashing even if you want to get stylish points high. For anyone playing with simple objectives in mind (go through mission, rank mission high) V is easy.

Be aware. The closer enemies are to you, the more likely they are to take a swing at you. When they're up your ass they're definitely going to do it, so either move or be ready to move.

Vergil knew exactly how much he fucked up and now lives with that guilt.

1 on DH + 1 on SoS will probably get you everything except super taunts.

V relies heavily on holding down the face buttons in default controls, if you wanted to actually charge up shadow/griffon properly youd want to use a shoulder button/the dpad.

I'll be honest, I don't like Balrog. The whole switching between kicks and punches is good but the issue I have is that I miss Beowulf/Gilgamesh's "simplicity". All Balrog does is make it so you have ANOTHER fucking layer ontop of the ones you already had as Dante. Feels like they should have just made Balrog into the single target fist weapon and the bike as the AoE crowd control one. I mean it works fine with swordmaster but complexity for the sakes of complexity is innane. Plus the camera is complete ass at times and all the bosses upto a point are absolute garbage on par with DmC, a shame after the fun that was 4.

I had to pause the game for a good minute or two at that weapon reveal screen to take it all in.

Protip: The difficulty of a game peaking BEFORE the final level is a common level design tactic which helps smooth over the climax from being back-loaded by frustration. Note the ending to DMC1 which features a lax timed escape, a simple final phase of Mundus and a trivial airplane sequence.

Get enemy step and hop around him while smacking him with exceed air attacks. Overture also does a shitload of damage, but be careful not to do it when he's winding up a punch.
Buster Arm also works great, but only when he's knocked down.

It's really not communicated very well. The game makes it seem like Urizen is Vergil's true form while V is a byproduct of his creation. The fact that Vergil doesn't acknowledge V or Urizen's existence either doesn't help the matter.

No, where did you get that? V is Vergil's human-only side. Vergil would never be like V and never was. Vergil has to have both human and demon sides. I think people are getting confused. V is if Vergil was ONLY human.

Urizen is literally what Vergil always wanted. The unstoppable demon form that constantly gathered power at the expense of everything around him.
V is his neglected human side. V actually being a match for anything in game makes little to no sense from a narrative standpoint and he's honestly the low point in terms of gameplay to the point if you removed his sections then you'd miss nothing aside from the BIG REVEALS.
