does SE just refuse to cancel bad games?

I genuinely hope square cancels the ff7 remake at this point, it’s become pretty clear that they don’t know how to make good games anymore.

The game suffers from poor level design, where it wants you to take a specific path, so they block the map with debris that change around depending on the character.

The AI is bad, both escort and enemy AI, the escort AI is just "walk to destination" it doesn't try to sneak, you can't tell it to move to specific positions, just walk from A to B. The enemy AI can sometimes see you through walls, but sometimes it won't see you at all. It makes a stealth game a little obnoxious to play when the AI doesn't like to play by the rules sometimes. "realism"

Combat is pretty piss poor, the guns feel like shit. Most of the guns take multiple rounds to kill a guy, even if you aim at the head. The best way to dispatch someone is to slide into them and melee them. running attack and then down attack with melee ensures a kill too. If you don't have a melee weapon the slide into 4 pistol rounds generally kills on normal/hard.

The wanzers feel really stiff, kinda understandable given that they're giant robots. On hard you can die in your wanzer very fast, like I got to a point where I had to fight 2 wanzers at the same time and it look me 30 minutes to get past it, because of how quickly i was dying and needing to reload.

As a concept, it's neat. It's Metal Gear in the Front Mission universe. As a game it's not good, but you always feel like "man, if only x was fixed, it would be so much better"

If anyone is to play this game, do yourself a favor and play it on "light"/easy. The enemies still react the exact same, they're not any more smart or any less retarded. It is literally just them doing less damage and having less health on easy. Do not go through this game your first time on hard, because NG+ gives you skills that let you upgrade damage. Which should've just been an RPG mechanic at that point, maybe at the end of chapters, but fuck you, i guess.

As long as Square Enix has Dragon Quest, they can fuck up a couple of times.

It's very likely that Saito is directing Babylon and his last two games (Revengeance and Devastation) were fantastic. I have more faith that it will be good than Bayo 3 at this point given the complete silence on it and Hashimoto (who was likely the director at the start) leaving the company.
