While it's fair to wait until the patch is out of beta I severely doubt they'll bring back Denuvo in a future update. Sega's been removing it from various games after all, of the top of my head Yakuza 0 had it taken out not too long ago. plus shit like Team Sonic Racing doesn't seem like it'll have it based on the Steam store page. Yes I'm aware that Mania's store page only started listing Denuvo like a couple of hours after launch, but no other Sega game released on PC after that repeated that mistake. Plus I doubt Sega want's that kind of backlash ever again.

I remember being so fucking mad when this game had Denuvo, mostly because of the underhanded practices they used to sneak it on people. Never touched the PC copy I pre-ordered (and couldn't refund because of said underhanded practices) but if this is legit then I'll do another playthrough on PC very soon. May even see what the modding community has managed to muster outta it.

The modding scene needs to go back to square one because they have to rewrite everything while excluding the need for their programs to interact with Denuvo.

Yeah it's pretty shitty that they took their sweet time doing this, Capcom removed Denuvo from Mega Man 11 like a month after launch after that got cracked. But on the bright side it looks like Sega's not gonna use Denuvo for any of their future PC releases. And while it is the bare minimum for them to remove it from their older games that had it, it could've still been worse if they just didn't bother and kept it in.

Honestly TSR doesn't look too bad. Has a great soundtrack already and the level themes are pretty good looking. It's by Sumo as well so it must end up being at least okay.

i DESERVE retribution! i simply will never be able to enjoy Sonic mania because of that, i want my 2 lost weeks back, i WANT to enjoy the so called best sonic game! but since i will obviously never get them, then i will never buy anything from sega ever again.

That's what I was thinking as well, yeah. The volcano stage and Frozen Junkyard make me think they could have taken the Mania approach and had a mixture of reused and original stages, too.

Yeah, I'm not opposed to it, even if I think it looks a little basic compared to TSR. I'd be happy to give it a go if given the opportunity. And I'll be turning off the character voices at sanic speed because the constant chatter will drive me absolutely insane after five minutes.

From what I've read there is actually an option for it. Sonic games have gotten a bit better in that regard in recent years at the very least. (Forces being a prime example. Still don't know how people do repeat playthroughs with that shit on.)
