Worth it? 25 euros including shipping for a controller seems really good, especially since I'll buy the game anyway.

>steam controller
Have you ever actually used one, user, or are you just repeating opinions you saw on the internet?
Yes I did and touch pads are absolute trash.
X360/One controller is a patrician choice for PC.
just use a PS4 controller
imagine how many people will ruin their experience of Sekiro by trying to play it with that controller
jesus, they're still pushing that shit?
Keyboard and mouse is better for gaming
it has mouse support right? why would I buy a controller then? I'm perfect with mouse, controllers are clunky.
Holy hell no! The steam controller is absolute trash. I tried so hard to get some use out of it but it really has no redeeming qualities.
they probably have piles of them in store
have to get rid of them somehow
for me it's about playing the game as the developers intended. You just know From were testing and designing for a controller. Sure, you can play with KB+M, maybe you can even aim better or something, but the game will just feel "off" and some stuff will be awkward that's not meant to be awkward. And it's not about what control scheme makes the game easier, (let's face it, singleplayer games are designed so that you beat them anyway), it's about the game feeling satisfying.
Considering both cost half of the price of just the game i think is a deal. Even if the controller bricks the first day you still have saved money.
Where is this offer?
for one, I do not feel controls when i'm immersed in the game it's part of learning to play it, you simply forget in an hour or two
secondly controller is what feels awkward to me, all the freaking time I tried to master it - it's restricting, I can't live without camera movement at will it's like breathing
also we had this discussion about movement misunderstanding from console players, it's about moving with the mouse, not mouse and keyboard - it's mouse+keyboard
But really I simply want PC to have both options for both types of players. I even played Nioh with controller emulator perfectly fine before the patch.
>>steam controller
ohnononoononono
Elaborate. Use specific examples.
The only thing that will really be different is camera on touchpad instead of a stick. And this is a game where you will be playing a majority of combat encounters with lock on. It probably won’t make as much of a difference as what you’ve conjured up in your head.
there's no way people unironically think this for these sorts of games
you would have to be the worlds most giant PC fag
It should just be right on Steam, think you can find it on the Sekiro store page. Available until the 28th, iirc.
there is a lot of people like that, me included, only people that moved from consoles to PC can't handle m+kb in such games
>Have to swipe constantly like you're on tinder to turn the camera around
bear in mind keyboard is restricting too, you can only move in 4 relative directions, rather than a smooth 360 degrees like with an analogue stick. In some games this affects dodge roll directions too, which makes a big difference to the gameplay. You also can't control your speed in an analogue way, the key is either down or not. Maybe one day we'll have some analogue left hand device on the PC plus mouse in the right. I agree that offering options is good, since everyone's used to different things. So long as it doesn't ruin the game in some way (for example RE4 is all about the difficulty of getting a headshot on a moving zombie. Give the player a mouse and it trivializes the core of the entire game).
Just fucking buy it, OP. I can assure you that 95% of Yea Forums, myself included, never used a Steam Controller and is only parroting the popular opinion of it.
Ultimately, you've gotta be the one to decide whether you think it's worth experimenting with or not.
>you can only move in 4 relative directions
that's not how it works, we've been over this several times, I wish there was someone to teach you how to use it properly
Disagree on RE4, shooting is a minor part of that game for me, it's more about exploration and atmosphere.
What's there to elaborate. Touch controls are annoying in games because they lack tactical feedback. Try playing a shooter on a laptop touchpad or a phone.
Are you serious? I've been gaming near exclusively on PC forever, but you need to be able to acknowledge that mkb is clearly inferior for many titles. Do you play racing games with mkb as well?
For the price maybe.
It's an interesting controller with some shortcomings and even if it meets your requirements it is an acquired taste that takes a lot of fine-tuning.
As far as personal criticisms of the controller since I have one I think the most glaring issues are the face button layout and the bumpers. The face buttons are overall harder to use since they aren't in the main position they usually are in but the controller has more functionality generally so that's almost excusable. The bumpers are stiff with low travel and don't feel good to use so that's not really excusable.
The ergonomics of the controller also aren't really fantastic since it decided to sacrifice the left half of the controller to a trackpad and subsequently have solution that doesn't handle analog or digital controls well but has some niche use instead.
Personally I found that it beats using a stick for the camera.
If you enable trackball mode and tune the friction to your liking you can get a decent amount of mileage out of your swipes and there are several settings to take advantage of how you would prefer it to work.
The trackpads on the controller are much better than laptop trackpads though. There is a decent amount of haptic feedback to inform what you're doing. I do agree that for movement the feedback of a stick is less easy to replace but for camera control the system is pretty good.
>Do you play racing games with mkb as well?
yup, since NFS 2
ETS2 was the last one I played for a few hours though, it's all about how fast you can press the buttons for smooth steering, i also played serious plane simulators with kb, it's okay I guess, not as good as with joystick true
If we talk arcade driving, FC3/4 got perfect keyboard driving setup, felt fantastic. GTA5 is about quick button mash though if you want to be precise.
Movement in 3rd person games is the same as controller though, but different in actual technique for it. Also you get way more camera angles with mouse, It really pains me watching gameplay done with controller, it's just so plain visually.
Still, considering how camera controls implemented in modern games, it's really easy to make KB/m as an option, I can live with keyboard menus navigation.
