All the enemies looked different but still had the same theme in Q2. Q1 enemies looks like blobs, the only really defined enemy is the shambler.

The guns feel like shit dude. Like pea shooters. Go YouTube the pistol. Look at how shit it looks "pew pew" and not to mention all the weapons warp and spasm because of the way the engine fucks up rendering vertices.

And they nerfed explosive weapons cus they were so strong in Q1. The grenades in Q2 are worthless. And the enemy animations are so fucking stiff.

God. I forced my way through Q2 and when I was finished I immediately went back to Q1 expansions and it's just a better game in almost every way.

Quake 2 shouldn't even be called Quake. Fuck Q3 and Q4. Quake is its own standalone title that deserves a sequel. Fuck the Strogg and fuck your sci-fi shit.

In q2 you have the iron maiden, beserker, enforcer. I can't remeber any of the enemies in q1 except for the shambler. Sure q1 hade better atmosphere but enemies? Nah, they were boring as fuck.

Played Quake 2 first, loved it for years. Never really clicked with Quake though until I played Half-Life - hated what it did to the FPS genre and found Quake to do what I like. Now I enjoy both Quake and Quake 2, but Arcane Dimensions for Quake shits on both.

I find it harder to enjoy the whole of Quake 2 now though, certain units are still fun: Base, Jail and City for example. I like the hub system as I enjoyed the same in Hexen 2. Music is good, atmosphere is pretty good. It's not as chaotic as Quake though.

At least they're not Half-Life. Fuck Valve and every faggot that sucks their cock for spoiling FPS games.

Yeah Q2 had great enemies such as

It should run as it is, but there's no downside to using Yamagi anyway, you get more options and better performance.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein had 3 bosses. The first was good, the second was horrible and the final was ok so a mixed bag
Wolf 2009 I have never been able to finish, ever. The game absolutely repulses me. Even more than New Colossus
Wolf New Order had 4 bosses as far as I remember. The first one and the London Monitor weren't particularly good. Last two were excellent even if they were shoot it till it dies bosses
New Colossus didn't really have any bosses unless you count those two guardians on the airship which were terrible

Doom 1 & 2 bosses were just sponges
Doom 3 bosses weren't great. The telekinesis one can glitch and start attacking you too fast. Twin guardians were a nice throwback to Doom 1. The seeker one was a good concept but became annoying. Final boss is a strafe while you throw a soulcube. The Maledict in the expansion pack is actually really fun to fight
Doom 4s cyberdemon is great boss because it requires at least some proper positioning and the effects used are unique. The twin hell guards were significantly worse. The cyberdemon was a little too easy but I appreciated the attempt to properly recreate the Doom 1 bosses

Quake 1 had no real bosses just puzzles
Quake 2 was shoot it till it dies bosses which could die so fast you'd never see all their weapons
Quake 3 was an arena game so that doesn't really count
Quake 4 was once again shoot it till it dies but they did have a few more mechanics. They still die very fast

I would say Doom 4 and Wolfenstein New Order tie here

Spear of Destiny has the best finale out of any Id shooter, the back to back boss battles and the seamless shift from Nazi castle to hell is an unforgettable experience.

Not him, but I didn't like Q2 enemies beacuse of the animations: it feels clunky. Their behavior should work (every id FPS does this right), but fighting enemies in Q1 feels better.

Anyway, this genre was kinda popular in the late 90s and early 00s and then it was replaced with dubstep, progressive house and hardstyle.

Everything about Blood is great except the actual gameplay. It isn't fun getting 25% of your health snipped off the millisecond a hitscan cultist is rendered on screen

IGN preview fails to show game properly, but playing it as normal human being. Meanwhile Gamespot shows more enemies and all weapons with some setpieces but playing almost as that Polygon-guy. Goddamit give us a demo or record own gameplay 3DR. Still cautiously waiting for it, they got some vets from mod scene on board and it looks promising.

Witchfire is okay, feels like Shadow Warrior reboot but with medieval setting.

Reminder that I grew up playing Keen 1,2 and 4, Duke Nukem 1 and 2, DOOM1 and DOOM2, Jazz Jack Rabbit.

Didn't play Q1 and Q2 until I was 13-14 maybe 4 years after Q2 was released.

I love DOOM, I liked Quake 1 and 2, mostly Q1.

I want to move around while I shoot. Paintball, airsoft, laser tag, all of these games were fun with friends when younger because you were on the move and firing a lot. That's something you fundamentally can't do in CS. I love to rocketjump around in TF2, I liked doublejumping as scout, I liked the strafejumping in quake. Even cod figured out that running around makes for a fun game.

I think that level-design can be compared to martial arts to an extent.
There are people who do their own thing, end up influencing those around them, depending on how many people they managed to influence, they might establish a certain movement, a "school" of level-design of sorts. Point in case: Allen Blum, who pretty much established how "proper" Duke Nukem 3D map should look and feel like. Then there are people who explicitly join already established movements/schools, and practice acting like someone else (the person who founded the "school") would. Then there are people who aim at establishing their own movements, but are frauds and plagiarists, who actually know about what they are doing way less than they pretend to, and present their quote/memespeak as their genuine mapping style - but get a pass as long as it looks cool or sophisticated. Then there are complete braindead retards, who produce mapping equivalents of child's scribbles (they could waste 2 hours or 200 hours on a single map, doesn't matter, it will still be incoherent barely playable mess).
