Motion Capture and Facial Capture are completely different things to this.
These pre-vis cutscenes are for shot composition mainly and come before the actual mocap itself.

I think it's a combination of both. They probably did a bunch of pre-vis stuff, then decided to put it as a special feature and just filmed the whole game that way.

Reuben does facial capture, so does Johnny. This is Pre-Vis, not mocap, it's done even before mocap. This is them figuring out what the motion capture artists will even be doing.

Hopefully Reuben uploads some footage of DMC5 mocap at some point. I want to see Johnny doing Nero stuff - his voice work in this game was absolutely phenomenal.

Shadow to R1, Griffon to R2 so you can attack with both at the same time.

Also change Nero's controls to Exceed R2, shoot L2 so you can charge shot and exceed easier.

Just beat 5 for the first time like 30 minutes ago.
It was breddy good. Dante's own Sparda-type sword was one thing I was hoping he'd get, and he got it, so I'm happy, but holy shit, it having Aerial Rave without Swordmaster on was fucking me up a bunch during some fights. Also glad Nero got his own DT and it still keeps the properties it had in 4. Vergil kicked my shit in, but doing shit like using stinger to parry his DT summoned swords back at him felt really good. Still not sure how I feel about V's playstyle, but I'm hoping to warm up to it on later playthroughs
I don't know if I should have stayed up until 5 in the morning trying to beat the game, though. I think I just fucked my sleep schedule completely and utterly

Yeah, for "dramatic" reasons because Nero activates his DT and saves the day with the power of friendship so no one has to die, I mean even the music is very upbeat so I understand what they were going for story wise. That doesn't make the fight any less disappointing, and it's infuriating since it could've easily been salvaged by better fleshing out or distributing Vergil's bag of tricks between missions 19 and 20.

The game could've easily introduced both his sin DT and Nero's DT in the final mission while attempting to give a semblance of challenge. I mean Vergil did eat the power-up fruit before when he was still Urizen so the writers could've easily handwaved him still having fight left in him even after duking it out with Dante in mission 19.

Okay for those wondering about V ex color(like I was last thread). I can confirm that it's definitely NOT just 25 missions of any difficulty or single difficulty. I got the unlock on my 26th mission(30 complete missions with my 4 prologue clears) AND after clearing both of the credits fights(Beat the Hell Judecca and get more kills respectively) . Vergil's attachment to Yamato is deep no doubt, it's his weapon and a keepsake from his father but the game makes a point that even Yamato pales in comparison to how important that book is to him.

Problem is that I don't find such a pushover boss fight even remotely cathartic, no satisfaction from finishing a difficult fight nor because of so called story reasons, especially since Nero's underlying daddy issues also get brought up for the first time in the final mission.

In DMC1 and DMC3 at least both of the girls got action sequences and in DMC4 they're implied to do something useful while Dante is clowning. In 5 there's literally no purpose to both of them.

It's a GREAT way to test out their servers and how well they hold up with it interacting as it doesn't affect you while you play the story.

The only reason dmc2 is questionable is due to Dante going to hell and being a bit out of character.
That can easily be dismissed as him having a bad day or whatever and finding a convenient way out of hell.

DMC5 isn’t on MT, it’s using the new RE engine. Which from what I hear is basically MT rebuilt from the ground up for current gen with next gen in mind. I’m excited to see how Dragon’s Dogma 2 on RE engine turns out.

Demon world seems to be like the medieval human world where only 10% of the population has a dignified life in society and everybody else is illiterate and lives between filth, just with a strongest "survival of the fittest" grasp and also magic bullshittery.

I imagine stuff like empusa, infestant, hellbats, plasma, behemoth, etc. live like actual animals in the demon wilderness. Nobody seem to be sentient and strong but super stupid and despised by the elite. Berial/balrog/goliath are where they are probably simply because they're strong enough to back it up. Hell pride/caina/whatever are probably slaves.

Pretty much, sometimes these "holes" open up in the world that are small portals to the demon world. While in most cases they aren't large enough for anything meaningful to come through, somehow one large enough for Dante to slip through managed to open.
After Matier tells him about these "holes" he surmises that it probably had something to do with the fragments of Yamato and The Order fucking about

Agreed, that bothered me a lot as well. DMC5 in general was extremely fanservice heavy, and by that I mean the "dude do you remember this lol" kind and not the naked kind. I'm assuming they decided to throw every possible character in just because they wanted to go out with a bang in the last game by featuring everyone, and I guess also intentionally going to the exact opposite direction from DmC by giving fans a love letter.

But I would've very much preferred if they pruned all the needless references and instead focused on developing the player character trio instead. DMC3 had a small cast and managed to give everyone proper acrs.

Small nitpick, but I don't like Table Hopper in this game. It used to be Nero's coolest move where he weaved and swerved like Balrog boxing swerve, but now it's the gay Raiden flip in MGS2 made useless by the regular dodge being context sensitive

Nah, by the end of the game it's very clear that the power of Urizen is too much for anyone but Dante to handle, and Nero when he DTs. I was fine with Lady and Trish sitting this one out honestly. The ridiculous DBZ level powerscaling is too much to realistically have Lady be fighting and Trish sort of just acts like a female Dante, aloof on the sidelines cause she knows Dante will take care of business.
