This desu. First time I was just playing like an idiot and not dodging anything, then I remembered how to actually play the game and started abusing the fuck out of trickster to dodge and then switching back to swordmaster to wail on one of the heads. The only remotely difficult thing to dodge is that ice move he does with the spikes that fall everywhere, but everything else is super easy. Of all bosses so far, the ones that have given me the most trouble surprisingly were V's pets and Vergil himself

The story sure did lack emotional value, not to mention had a clumsy change of tone in the end.
But it sure as hell was satisfying for it to not waste time explaining things like mgs4 and every other triple A sequel.

Go in and smack whatever head is active at that moment, cycle goes fire > lighting > ice. So smack the fire head (right one). All he does is paw swipes that you can see coming from a mile away. The lightning head mostly does ground lightning slams that are also easy to dodge. Just keep dodging to the sides and slap the heads around. You'll know when he's going to do his big AoE change of element attack when the lighting for the arena changes color

After dying about a dozen times and restarting the mission I finally managed to do this to win. FUCK that last phase. Vergil is dramatically more difficult than everything else in the game.

Learn how to trickster and enemy step.
A lot of his attacks can be doged with sky star.
Most of his attacks are on the ground as well so jumping on him to reset the trickster moveset is also a good idea.
The only two moves you should be aware of is the bursting ball when he change element and the electric shock.

I beat him using DT to heal. Otherwise the fight is easier than the last fight in DMC3.
The only problem is his clone but you can kill it quickly.

God damn this brings me back to DMC3
Anyway I applied the same strategy as I did to Vergil in DMC3. Shoot him with E&I when he does DT to bring down his life regen, keep dodging with trickster and you're good

Use Royal Guard. When you fuck up, it eats DT, so you won't be able to use any of it unless you're really good, but Royal Release does so much damage that it's still worth it. Like user said above, you can skip his last phase entirely. And yeah, it was the same for me. I died once on Mission 10, and all of my other deaths were to Vergil, so don't feel bad. You've just got to get used to the fight. It's nothing like the DMC3 fights. It's a lot worse, IMO.

Isn't it great? Too bad about Sparda and Rebellion.

When Vergil is in DT mode, after he uses his helm breaker (twice), there is a small time frame when you can stinger him for more damage.

I spent most of the game sticking with Swordmaster but Trickster makes him so much easier.

Is there some easier trick to getting Royal Guard's timing down. It never feels consistent. Even practicing on the same enemy 50+ times in a row, I still kept missing every 3 or 4 times. Is it better to just hold down Circle then press it down again quickly when you think the attack is going to land?

The only move of his I couldn't fairly consistently RG was the upgraded Judgement Cut when it hits 3 times. I could regular guard it but not consistently the perfect timing version.

Hot garbage opinions coming thru. Combat was perfect, everything Itsuno promised and then some with Sin Devil Trigger. I didn't think I'd like V but he grew on me. The characters looked fine in motion, but Vergil's forehead was too big, he should have had a bang like usual. I don't know about the story, I still much prefer 3's. It wasn't terrible, just, not amazing. I don't really like Nero's DT, way too anime. His concept DT from 4 was better and he actually looked like a spawn of Vergil. My hand's started hurting after playing Dante's first chunk of missions and by the end of the game my forearms were hurting. Still hurting now as I type this but god damn do I love playing as Dante. I chose him for M13.I gave Subhuman a chance for a few missions, but I didn't end up liking it. It's just a poor metalcore song through and through. I changed Dante's theme to Devil's Never Cry. Unfortunately, there was no boss, outside of Vergil because that's unfair, that I particularly enjoyed fighting. Artemis didn't have any dialogue and that was unfortunate. Malphas was annoying to fight. Gilgamesh wasn't memorable. Cavalierre was decent. King Cerberus was ok. The DMC1 trio was pretty good. Outside of Vergil again, Nevan is one of my favorite bosses in the series followed by Credo. The mob's were very fun to fight, but not the bosses. My final gripe is that I didn't like the song that played during Dante vs Vergil, is it Vergil 4 now? Maybe I need to go listen to it on it's own, but it didn't sound better then Vergil 2 or 3. Anyway overall, it was worth the wait. Looking forward to some DLC, I know Itsuno said there weren't any in the plans, but hopefully the success of the game makes Capcom give him a little push.

I use DT, Vergil is a smart man and will hit you while finishing the SDT transformation.

The only problem with Nero's DT design for me is the hair. Instead of just translating his haircut into scaley stuff like they do for Dante and Vergil you get a Hollow Ichigo thing with his hair growing out long with dumb bangs.

it takes getting used to. I played with Auto on to see what happens since it gets SSS easy.

Just spam Cavaliere's back attack in the air, then air hike and spam it more. Air trick can help too. It takes a few tries, but Cavaliere is too powerful.

I used trickster teleport move combined with E & I and enemy step. The guns keep you suspended in air and you can air trick and enemy step off the bat, using the air dash to cover some ground if you need to. Took me only a couple of tries this way.

Summon Nightmare, face roll your controller. That's how I do it.

Assuming you didn't get them the bonus scenes for each credits sequences seem like real strong hints that we'll get some content with Lady and Trish, maybe a few co-op missions. Playable Vergil alone is a given but I think we'll get something similar with him and Dante in the demon world. At the very least Itsuno said a while ago that he'd be open to new playable characters, so I'm sure we'll at least get the three as characters for the main campaign.

I din't even have enemy step but I basically just used Cavalier's launching move that sends you in the air and just spammed the basic triangle attack until the timer ticked.

If you guys are thinking of V as the guy you control and the summons as anything other than weapons you are playing him wrong.

I feel like I barreled through the division point missions too fast. I might have just been experiencing some autism because the cameo system makes my stupid ass nervous, but I felt like I didn't explore/look for blue orbs enough and they were not very long as a result. Yeah, mission ranks as V always get below A but I get SSS ranks in combat more often as V than Nero.

I did try to explore all of them. Mission 16 isn't so bad, but it is fucking boring because it's just platforming, and I missed the whole fucking section at the end because it was a blind jump and I didn't have trickster on and ready. Mission 15 on the other hand is just a confusing mess. I can't fucking stand Mission 15. FUCK Mission 15. Come to think of it, Mission 15 was the worst mission in DMC3 as well.

Air raid is a basic triangle combo in the air (with Helm Breaker being moved to back+triangle). Prop Shredder is the Triangle Triangle Pause combo. Round Trip as it originally exists is gone, instead you have a summoned swords version done with Swordmaster. Dance Macabre is still on Swordmaster wholesale.

With how dark the game is it looks pretty black. The light blue inlays and blue vest don't help either. The lightness of the other 2 blues darken the coat.

I liked his character arc. It really was the V show up until his last mission. Then it became the Dante show, then it ended as the Nero show.

I personally believe it's because they were fucked up. But there is the whole "demon's become stronger with human blood" so him being 3/4 human is a potential precedent for him being stronger. Its a common misconception but no. Dante spells it out pretty clearly several times that it isn't about your blood but your soul. Sparda and Dante will always be stronger than Vergil because they have human hearts.

It's not so much the dumbass DBZ-tier "being less but partially saiyan makes you stronger than a pure blood" logic, but more-so based on the logic that the game describes. Someone (I think Trish) says that demon's are empowered by human blood, the fruit was created by condensing a fuckton of human blood etc... So being Half Human could mean that Dante and Vergil have always had more potential than Sparda and Nero being 3/4 humans even more so. It's not specifically stated to be like that, just an observation based on other facts that are presented. I personally prefer to subscribe to it being them just being tired and beat-up from their fight so Nero came in and washed him.

He tried his best to reason with him in 3 and failed, that was before the decades of demon mindrape vergil went through. One of the morals of the story, playing into the whole "dead weight" thing is that Nero succeeds where Dante never could. He was able to save Vergil in a way Dante never could. Dante was ultimately the dead weight.

definitely agree with this, though a decent chunk of people are also rushing through the game.
My fucking ranks are anywhere from B to S for various missions on Devil Hunter, but in SoS I have S rank in everything so far except for the prologue, which is just under the score cutoff for S. Part of it is from plaything through the entire game with cutscenes in one sitting, the other part of it was because muscle memory dicked me over and I'd do stupid shit like waste all of Nero's arms when I'd finally get a mission with him again after 6+ missions

we can only cross our fingers, and hope, if there's ever a DMC6 instead of DMC0, through some cuhrayzee nonsense V's memories and personality is imprinted into the book, becoming it's own character, and is Nero's partner in the front lines

Style rank feels a lot more extreme in this game. You can cheese your way to SSS really quickly, but you'll drop almost instantly if you aren't constantly wailing on something. Taunting while SSS can sometimes even drop you down to fucking A before you finish your taunt.

Since 3SE Itsuno has wanted casual players to enjoy the games as well which is why they’ve provided more options like auto assist, yellow mode etc. They exist so that even a retard can beat the game, but are completely optional so that the hardcore portion of the player base can easily ignore them as they please.

Urizen was literally Vergil's hunger for power and barely anything else. He didn't even have Vergil's memories beyond recognising Dante.

In my headcanon Dante and Vergil have about the same powers, but Dante specialized in defense (RG) while Vergil on speed (DS).

If you hold circle the entire animation is the reversal. It loops indefinitely too. It doesn’t do much damage but it stuns like a Street Fighter focus attack. It works on projectiles too.

Dante is extremely upgrade dependent so his first mission is kind of aids.
As far as knockback goes though, get trickster to level 3 asap so you can warp to enemies like Nero, and learn which moves knock enemies around. For sword combos, you generally want to avoid the mash combo unless it's on something that won't fly away.

You can skip that phase without RG if you time a burst from SDT or DT just before the threshhold

I was stuck on vergil by using no orbs and no health upgrades cause i wasn't plan on getting hit. I ended up no hit running vergil but took me 2 hours. And i beat him with nero in less than 20 seconds without getting hit cause stagger was abusable and my ex timings are great in this game.
