Because SK actually had a story before it went pure fan service with nothing else to back it up.

It's not? I mean, it tries to be but then there's zero consequence to everything. All the battles mind as well be play fighting because no one ever dies or even gets injured for that matter. Everyone always conveniently lets the other party in question leave afterwards. Kind of hard to be dark when there's absolutely nothing at stake.

Other parties are pulling her around as well as her confusion about what the fuck Asuka keeps going on about and how she wants to be friends.(Asuka is injured)
The only genuinely life threatening fight is Asuka vs Homura at Hebijo.

Homura could've wiped out Asuka and the gang when she came to show that she has their scroll, but instead she says "Meh, you're not worth killing now", and fucks off. There was literally nothing stopping her from killing them right then and there.

hell no. They were all considered traitors to the evil fraction for killing the headmaster of the school. Hence there's a new hebi fraction in the other games while Homura's fraction is just called Homura's Crimson Squad. Homura's Crimson Squad is basically hiding from the evil fraction and are likely to be hunted down and killed if found.

The whole good/evil fraction thing is such bullshit by the current ninja society. They're really no different than each other, they're both bad. Look at how the good fraction takes Katsuragi's parents as hostages.

You know with Snoy censorship and the SK team having to redo there ideas for the next game maybe we will see a more serious story like SK1 SK2 and half of Shinovi.

Didnt want it to happen like this but we may get Yoma and plot again

they already confirmed the Seven will have a more serious storyline. Producer said it himself and the small preview in end of Peach Beach Splash confirmed it.

ive played all the senran games so far and ive always skipped the story stuff.
i still dont know what these games are about

3ds versions, pirated them so i played them out of curiosity.

vita/ps4 versions, played them just for the trophies.

and yeah, all the games were pretty garbage but i tend to play shit games when im bored.

I remember in the original story Homura and co just commit suicide then just somberky walk away when they got revived. It was actually pretty cool

Except they all did sometime after SK2 in one timeline where the yoma murdered everyone. Which is why Kagura and naraku jumps to second timeline in PBS.

In short, assassin schools that upon graduating produce blades for hire, that work for the sleaziest, most corrupt, fattest, ugliest, nobles around.
