Pandora is great though. It's laser form gets you instant S against crowds from any distance. Lucifer is limited but it's not too bad. The only weapons he's got that are outright useless are E&I.

The only problem I have with V is that fighting bosses are nowhere near as fun as fighting waves of enemies. Juggling enemies with Shadow and Griffons big lighting attacks are fun.

Dante gets A at best, he just feels like a stick in the mud compared to nero. All of his bosses just felt like 'dump all DT into sin DT and wreck them'

Does the character's battle theme just go away eventually or am I retarded and changed some setting in the jukebox? I just completed mission 8 and I haven't heard Devil Trigger or Crimson Cloud since mission 3 and 4 or so.

Also, am I a brainlet or do normal taunts not raise your style anymore? What am I doing wrong? Do I have to be right on top of the enemy in order to get a style bonus?

All I did was just Jump until I'm under the tunnel's ceiling, Glide, RB+B to it. Took maybe 5 tries, but they were quick and easy to do.

You can even do it to beat the game on Dante Must Die mode to unlock the Super costumes.

Can't anyone make turbo mode easily? I don't know much about how it'd work, but couldn't you make a mod which is just a CE table that speeds up game logic by 20% which is what turbo does, right? Or is it not that simple?

The way I handle Dante is to take it one step at a time. Stick to Trickster and Swordmaster and no more than two weapons per loadout. The rest is practice.

What's the best way to farm Red Orbs for fully upgrading? Using Faust?

Gilgamesh has the best combos, and (outside 4SE Beo which is faster) the best use of the charge mechanic. Its only flaws compared to previous weapons is fucking up straight, putting uppercut on SM and not having the hammer.

Vergil looks quite good in this pic. It's weird, I was one of those people who HATED his face reveal, but most of the time when he's on screen he looks great in motion. Trish on the other hand, now looks hideous to me. On top of that, both her and Lady are totally worthless characters. Fucking Nico was more interesting than both of them combined (and don't get me started on Kyrie and Patty).

Hey I just beat 5 and wanna talk my over all thoughts with you all. Spoilers obviously.

Anyway gameplay wise I don’t feel too controversial in saying it’s the best of the series on a pure mechanical level. Nero is the best he’s ever been (except for one thing I’ll mention later), V is super interesting and satisfying, and Dante has what I think is his best toolset. Said toolset does rely on nostaligia at some point, and some weapons have way more depth than others, but over all it’s extremely satisfying.

However the campaign pacing and bosses were what I was most worried about. At first the worry seemed to dissapier as I reach the middle of the game. Caliver Angelo is one of my favorite fights in the series. But then as the fights reached the end of the game the specifically kind of hit a platue around king Cerberus. The final fight of 4 for example was absolutely insane and by comparison just Vergil with his 3 moveset again is pretty dull. Standing demon boy feels pretty weak too. Maybe the insane spectacle of Bayonetta, KH, etc has spoiled me but like I said, even DMc4 and 1 had insane final fights. Part of the reason 4s was soo good was because, I think:

The devil breaker is a really cool mechanic, but a lot of the best parts of 4 and the source of all the spectacle was using that devil bringer at the right time. None of the grab moves in this game our as cool, even the one against Virgil, probably because the mechanic was designed around the whole game in 4 and just one fight in 5 (where you’re garunteed to have the arm to do so of course. There’s others for the other bosses but only Goliath’s I found awesome).

This all made the ending s little dissaponting for me. Not as much as the writing did tho-

V is really unenjoyable
The best start seems to make both shadow and griffon stay permament super saiyan mode while doing nothing but reading book and summoning nightmare for 2 seconds to rez them if they die
Controlling shadow manually is aids since he seems to constantly be like 2 feet out of range and always wants to teleport back to me at the worst moments
Even when everything is going right like in really small roomsthe damage output seems garbage

Punchline is still my baby for those hoverboard moves, goddamn whoever thought of those are a genius.

Tomboy is the biggest disappointment for me so far, often theres too many enemies to just sit there and try and cleave em all, without taking a hit, but maybe it would combo well with ragtimes special.

Your side dodge with him active is the only way I know of that will consistently teleport him to you, so just using the back dodge and not-air hike should keep him whereever he is unless he de-aggros or something.
If you mean the AI for Griffon and Shadow you need to manually set them to auto-attack mode by expending DT gauge with an input that I can't remember the default of, plus the Griffon/Shadow attack key.

Yeah, man, I too enjoy jumping around a giant empty stage avoiding enemies to activate cannons then some more running to break some crystals. And how could you ever get tired of grappling onto turrets to make an old man completely vulnerable to your attacks! And that riveting THIRD rematch against the bosses (except the best one) coupled with the best thing in the game: the dice mini-game!

4's finale was so great. Almost as good as getting downgraded in Bayonetta's final boss because I died to a QTE.

It’s not even close to the script quality of 3, and even 4 Id say is better. 5’s story starts off strong but then it slowly makes you realize that they expect you to watch Nero not know all this obvious/presented info and feel the drama when it’s suddenly dropped on him. It has the constant sense of leaving the player in the dark, even though it’s clear as day where it’s going. Characters aren’t used as much as they could like Lady and Trish and they feel like they’re there out of obligation to fans. In 4 trish and lady actually did something related to the plot and the antagonist. Lady is the one that got them involved and trish invaded the enemy group. This just get captured, are naked, and hang out in the van.
DMC3 and 4 weren’t full of surprises or anything but they had a lot more focus in what they were trying to achieve.
3 was a story about Dante realizing through lady what he believes in, while 4 is about Nero realizing the same. Dante sees that and passes the torch.
This they do the torch pass thing again, then they go for some family drama with this out of character and tone “stop fighting dads! Fighting is bad” (like what? “Fighting is bad” in a DMC game?!) stuff near the end. Vergil gets over losing super easily and just goes along without Dante becuase he suddenly just wants to be with his family since that thing V said about being “protected and loved” or whatever.

It feels all of the place and was the most dissapointing part of the game for me. To many of these big buffer action sequels like this and KH3 are trying to shove in everything from the series into them at the sacrifice of an actual good story. I hope it stops now that they’re all beginning new stories.

Great game over all, but it ended pretty flaccid for me.

His 4 moveset and his playable 3 moveset are almost identical. Either way in both has much more due to the oddity equevialent (forget the name) and force edge. So it’s like his Vergil 1 boss moveset in 3 but with his Vergil 3 supers

It kind of fucks with my mental imagery doing it because I've already been playing Nero on the default so square is always shoot and y for attack. When I change it just for V I mess up my muscle memory for Nero and for whatever reason RT for gun on Nero doesn't feel good

It probably sounded less akward in Japanese in but yeah that scene was pretty off. Like I said earlier in some post I think the script got a huge downgrade compared to 3 or even 4 as a result of trying to focus on fanservice so much.

Rapid slash has a different animation and add rising star. Then there's just judgement cuts. Summoned swords where streamlined and expanded. Vergil plays nothing like he did in 3.

The only thing he has from 3 three is multiple judgement cuts (and he now has more) and the helmbreaker equivalent. Then they added Doppelganger to him.

He's only lost to Dante once and he lost to Nero because he was weakened by Dante.

The only way his about-face at the end of the game makes any sense is if seeing Nero try to save him made him want to live, especially after V saying to Nero "I just wanted to be protected" earlier, even if it was talking about his mom at the time

Well to be fair Nero probably knows about Nico's great interest in peaches.

I have no idea how he bumbled his way through making Red Queen and Blue Rose. I know they are just heavily modified versions of base weapons, but he still would have had to be a decent engineer to pull that off.

The reason I really like it is that only Nero can make that choice. If Dante spared him, not only would that make him seem like a psycho (because Vergil unleashed two demon invasions) it wouldn't mean anything because both of them know they love fighting each other and they'd just wait till the next time.

Nero spends the entire game frothing at the mouth to fight Urizen, only to find out its Vergil, only to find out its his dad. Nero, being the emotional hothead that he is, does a complete 180 and says FUCK THAT YOU'RE COMING HOME despite having his arm ripped off by him and despite all the shit Vergil is responsible for. Its dumb, its irresponsible, and its perfect for both of those characters.

Yeah, V admitting his weaknesses and faults basically has Vergil admit that he was fucking wrong without Vergil himself actually saying any of that. It was a great way of shaping his redemption without actually having Vergil do it.
