Try the first game first because it has the least cringe in it. Still a lot of cringe though.

I refuse to fall for the Reborn meme after the author threw a shitfit and pulled his mods the first time.

Man TPS has so much good going for it but the shit-tier things are dialed to 11 and it's too small. I wish I could take the classes and lasers from TPS and put them in 2. Also the grinder was a good idea.

I am just going to add that while the story in 2 and TPS is pretty shit, it's not offensively bad and is occasionally funny.
The DLC packs are also worth getting if you enjoy the base game, while the DLC are all great.
Suffers from shitty scaling and has terrible replayability.

it's not as bad as trying to farm an Ogre or a Twister but it's still bullshit

I like it for Kreig and Maya and Zer0 but you're right. The dialogue and NPCs are shit. The characters I mentioned get by on their action skills so gunplay is limited. Guns are pretty unsatisfactory compared to 1.

It was only praised for its co-op really. The humor was only good when it was initially released but aged poorly. The first game imo is much better anyways

TPS is great and is mostly shit on by retards that have never played it and only hear about one or two bad jokes when it has some of the best humor and gameplay in the series.

There is nothing that wrong with TPS besides shitty antigravity mechanics and needing oxygen tanks. It's pros make up for it's cons, at the very least.
I am still pissed they cancelled the DLC plans myself, Claptrap DLC was a lot of fun.

Presequel is a bit average. A lot of quests take place in Triton Flats so you're constantly in that area while others are wasted and left behind. Some of the zones also get enemies scaled up so you come back later to feel even less powerful than you were before. The oxygen mechanic seemed fun for a while but quickly became tedious unitl you acquired better Oz Kits (or weren't Claptrap) Enemies in the final area of the game are very spongy and numerous, it becomes a total slog

1: Randy Pitchford is throwing the mother of all magic shows or
2:Borderlands 3 is finally being announced.

I enjoyed all the games a lot.

Borderlands 2, hell any of the games are what Destiny 2 and any other loot game wish they could be.

I liked the humor because it relentlessly shit on Claptrap. Jack and Hyperion stuff is on point as usual. Tiny Tina and Mordecai were salvaged. Only real problem was the over abundance of Australians.

Drop rates have always been shit in 2 especially in single player. Keep your eye on the vending machine in the torgue dlc. Unkempt Harolds have a good chance of spawning. Obviously try to get double penetrating if at all possible.

God this game looks like complete shit now though, cant believe its been 10 years.

I couldn't force myself through the game. A friend and I tried to beat it but we couldn't take it anymore about 3/4ths in. The gameplay is extremely slow and the walking/driving between things takes so long. There's so much padding and that doesn't even count the sidequests and grinding. The writing was extremely painful and feels like it was catering towards Invader Zim fans. This was one of the few games that couldn't even be salvaged with friends for me. I can appreciate some of the build variety, but only having one active skill bores me greatly.

I had a similar experience, the game damn near put me to sleep. No depth at all, and a total slog to play.
