but yeah mvc2 is a fucking cobbled-together game and that's part of the appeal imo

as unbalanced as MvC2 is, it's still better than MvC3, and I don't even acknowledge the one they made after that.

UMvC3 has a better roster, but it needs Venom, X, Monster Hunter, Sakura and Rashid and MvC3 would have the perfect roster, idc about other Marvel characters besides Venom.

MvC2's roster was fucking legendary at the time of its inception. At a time where 8-16 fighters was the norm, they went all out with FIFTY-SIX (56) CHARACTERS NIGGER HOLY FUCK.
Despite the flak the OST gets, it really does grow on you in due time. Although I can probably see why they weren't going to make 56 original themes especially in the timeframe between MvC1 and 2.

I would say Megaman was too but he wasn't that fun to play in MvC2 imo (haven't tried X because I didn't buy "that game")
I like Sakura but she isn't THAT important and Rashid wasn't even a thing at the time

for the Marvel side I'd also add Blackheart definitely, he was super fun, Spiral was pretty cool, Thanos would have been neat with a moveset overhaul (and his removal is kind of ironic considering how popular he is now), and I always found it super weird how Cable was removed despite him being one of the most popular characters in the game
As for Capcom I'd like B.B. Hood, Son Son, Amingo, Captain Commando, and Dhalsim

They almost had the perfect representation for Street Fighter in MvC3 except for the worst choice C. Viper to represent IV.

MvC2 is always fun, but I preferred the roster of UMvC3. Plenty of classic choices from 2 and the new characters were all great picks and a lot of fun to play as
Infinite was the worst roster possible for a sequel following both of those two

Simplifying movesets to make specials db,df and dfx2 for supers took so much of the personality from all the characters so I'll always prefer MvC2 more due to that. MvC3 ain't bad at all tho.

And UMvC3 definitely has its fair share of oddballs. The afformentioned Phoenix Wright, Firebrand, MODOK, Shuma-Gorath, Super-Skrull, etc

I'd say UMVC3, but it really does have a few notable ommissions from 2. Like, it doesn't need everyone, but off the top of my head

That being said, it's still a fantastic roster that manages to balance things out pretty well. Just, a few omissions seem really strange to me. (literally mostly just Megaman and Venom).

It really puzzles me why Cable wasn't included. I'm pretty sure other than Magneto he was the most popular character.
Megaman wasn't that fun imo but yeah he should still have been in because he's basically Capcom's mascot. Or maybe replace him with X. I dunno, maybe MvC4 will have X!
Jin, Blackheart, and Venom were really fun
