So... Sekiro is essentially the next Dark Souls game? They want to make a new Dark Souls but they don't want to be tied to the Dark Souls IP and they can't use Bloodborne because that's exclusive to a dead system. So that's what the purpose of Sekiro is? A spiritual successor that can actually be multiplat?
So... Sekiro is essentially the next Dark Souls game...

maybe they just wanted to make a ninja game bro
why should I buy this game if there's no weapons nor amors?
+ the "feodal japan" trope is getting boring to me after Nioh.
it's like I'm reading something written by an actual retard
>No weapons or armour (No builds)
>No player messages, co-op or PvP
>Crappy platforming and stealth mechanics
>Very obvious reused sound assets from DaS3
The whole thing just looks very basic a massive step down from DaS3.
You're either 15 or pretending to be 15. Still a tard.
You’re gonna have a mental breakdown if Fromsoftware decides to make any other video game that isn’t Bloodborne 2 or Dark Souls 4 after they’re done with Sekiro.
Well, it is an Activision game.
What about the truck arms? And there is a skill tree.
Armored Core, eh? What's this? Like, Dark Souls with robots?
>RPG fans cant wrap their heads around why people like action games
Every thread
*a Fromsoft game
Activision doesn't own the IP.
Yes it's the next dark souls, without any sort of way to make it last because short of upgrading your prosthetics to do different damage types there's literally no difference from playthrough to playthrough.
I guess technically the endings, but dragonrot doesn't change anything but dialogue otherwise.
Yeah but Activision is probably why it's bad.
I think in terms of world design it's like the first Dark Souls (except you have a good jump which expands the potential for level design)
no
it's more like 2, there's an actual variety and it isn't just green and brown fucking everywhere.
if it's a Fromsoft only IP how is activision the reason why it would be """bad""" (it's not even out yet, dumbass)?
>World design
What have we even seen of the world or its design? The game comes out in a couple of weeks and we've seen virtually nothing except a few videos of the same environment.
user when I say world design I mean the physical layout, not the aesthetic.
>ninja gaiden 4 is released
>noooo why isn't it like nioh
Oh. Then I would still disagree. There's more than a few cutscene transports just in the couple hours we got to see in all those "influencer" drops a few days ago, and fast travel is unlocked right out the gate to ease that fact.
Action-RPG is better than only action without the RPG part which is in general custom and more options in gameplay and design.
Can I get the picture of the Nioh box art where it's edited to say NOOOOOOOOO.
>japanese game set in japan
>you play as white guy
lmao
Not the same user but the publisher will usually have a say in the games development process. A publisher in gaming is like a producer in the film industry. They're funding the whole thing, make the most money from it, and definitely have a say in its development.
And as we all know, Activision is literally the fucking Devil.
Not him but I 100% disagree, action RPGs are flat-out inferior to pure action games. RPG "mechanics" in the context of real-time action are just an excuse to have shallow combat and shove in a ton of filler.
The real saving grace of Soulsborne is the level design and enemy placement which Sekiro seems to be doubling down on.
He's not white though, this is how Japanese people look when the art style is realistic.
except activision is only the publisher in america, FROM is the publisher in japan
so they had 0 reign over the design of the game
>So... Sekiro is essentially the next Dark Souls game?
No
But it actually is though.
This
They're also making BB2 now that they've wrapped up Sekiro.
Proof?
it's obviously a spiritual successor to Tenchu, you mungo. miyazaki specifcally told that to famitsu magazine.
you're thinking of nioh, you dumb faggot
You don't believe Nioh and Souls have shallow combat, get the fuck out.
How are Devil May Crys or Ninja Gaidens any better? And these games have more weapons than Sekiro, and more customizable stuff.
"RPG" lets you play at will, over level up, no level up, the armors and weapons that you want to suit your playstyle.
Actions-RPGs > Only "action".
They basically removed a great deal of options. You're wrong buddy.
And even that's based on a real person who was shipwrecked near Japan, assimilated and became a samurai.
if you actually watch gameplay it doesn't seem to play much like DaS
he's a hunk too
I'm Hidetaka Miyazaki.
Any other questions while I'm here?
OP is a mentally deranged retard who has been spamming this board non-stop with anti-sekiro threads because From making a non-souls game is somehow a "betrayal" to the "Souls fanbase."
It's a Tenchu game with Soulslike gameplay, stop asking for DaS4
I'm told that even though you play as a guy, the game lets you use girls as skins. Is that true?
Yes, this is true.
Ginchiyochads unite
>why should I buy this game if there's no weapons nor amors?
To play the game for its gameplay?
...You guys realize that From didn't make Tenchu, right?
Not only that but I don't get any Tenchu vibe from Sekiro at all. Not in design or gameplay. AT ALL.
Of course most people never played the original Tenchu trilogy so how could they know. They only write this non-sense because they're read someone say it once.
Yes, pretty much.
It plays the same, both for combat and exploration. They just reduced i frames and made blocking more essential. If you use the typical brain dead strat (spamming rolls the R1 spam) you'll die since everything tracks dashes and has poise breaks in the middle of R1 spam, it's the same formula just added upon.
>posture
They looked at Nioh's stamina system and said "Hey we should try that."
>grappling hook
Just makes transverse less tedious since it involves alot of back tracking and the maps are alot more vertical. It doesn't actually change the core of the game, it compliments the new design choice.
>prosthetic items
just typical Dark Souls items made slightly more useful.
Pretty much every other change is superficial and don't really break away from the formula shown in the last 5 games. Sekiro is just From's attempt to make the same fucking game for a 6th time in a row, DS3 showed them that they couldn't just copy paste anymore. Judging by peoples reactions, small changes and an artistic change is all they really needed.
It's not meant to be a straight up Tenchu game, It's Tenchu Souls combo
No shit, Sherlock. Acquire did. From Software bought the rights in 2004. Miyazaki told Famitsu that he wanted to make a sequel to Tenchu but since so many different studios were involved in the series he decided to start from scratch instead.
I've been playing Tenchu since you were a seedlet in your father's nutsack, kid.
Nice photoshop. Here's what it actually says.
how can you watch a totally-not-rikimaru ninja propel himself through the air with a batman-esque grappling hook and stealth kill dudes and demons and not get a tenchu vibe? I think you're the one that's full of shit and never played the original trilogy, my dude.
>no new posters in this thread
Retard anti-sekiro faggot samefagging his own threads again
If they have the rights then they could have just made a new Tenchu game. Nice try.
I honestly think it looks like boring shit and a huge step down from any souls game just because there's no pickups.
Because you think a grapple hook, a bit of stealth and a katana is what makes Tenchu what it was?
Well, guess what buddy, there's another "Tenchu vibe" game coming out soon, developped by Westerners called "Ghost of Tsushima" which has everything mentionned above.
Seriously, you can't even spot the differences?
Shit bait.
ghost of tsushima gives me more way of the samurai vibes than tenchu
He talked about it to famitsu back in June. How many days in a row do you need to embarrass yourself before you get a fucking life?
How does loot affect how good the gameplay is?
>ninja game
>stealth is secondary
This is just Souls with context sensitive grappling hook
This game sounds boring. Why can't they just make another Dark Souls?
Because they want to make this game
>it is an Activision game.
Uhh it doesn't have any season passes, micro-transactions or even a deluxe edition.
>This is just Souls
If it was we wouldn't have a bunch of whining pissbabies on Yea Forums over it
As much as I love Bloodborne and the first two souls games I hope this game alienates the whole souls audience for good. Sad when a company can't even make a good single player action game without everyone yelling "BUT WHERE IS MUH REHASHED FEATURES"
hurrrdurrrrrrrrrrdfudufhaiguhergrehhghfhggffffffgggggggh
Ghost of Tsushima is obviously taking inspiration from Way of the Samurai, a little Tenchu, and some Nioh and throwing it into the typical AAA open-world western formula. What's your fucking point, dipshit?
>arpgs > action
>when dmc5 just came out and shit all over every arpg that has come out in the past few years
fpbp
why can't you stop making threads and samefagging in them?
>more weapons
And over half of them do the same fucking thing excluding Bloodborne
>getting this butt hurt over a tenchu spiritual successor
Yea Forums is truly lost.
Why can't From stop making bad games and just make Dark Souls 4 instead?
because dark souls 2 and 3 were bad games
But user, Bloodborne was their best game in years
Someone WILL say this about an A.C. reboot and I will probably have a tic for the rest of the day because of it
why's bloodborne so good? is it because they stopped recycling the same fucking dark fantasy rpg design for the 4th time?
People are mad cause From doesnt know what they want to do with this game. It's but without weapon variety, rpg elements and online. But mechanically, gameplay wise, combat, exploration, progression, it's just like Souls.
Miyazaki is a one trick poney. His AAA games from here on out are going to be "Souls but with this gimmick"
>bad aesthetics
>combat is just dex builds
>blood blood blood blood blood blood
6/10 because it's fun but come on, stop jerking it off
Can wait for the next AC to have Z targeting and other gimmicks from Souls cause that's seems to be the only game From knows how to make
It was the perfect offshoot evolution of souls gameplay.
Uh, how is Bloodborne not dark fantasy?
God z targeting would fucking ruin Armored Core
I hear it teaches you how to spell, so its perfect for you.
>combat is just dex builds
you don't have to pretend to have played it, user
It's 1800s Victorian Gothic setting is rarely used. Couple it with its Lovecraft inspired lore and universe, and you have a very unique setting. It's dark, lovecraftian fantasy, but it's a rarely used one.
Except for, you know, every single Castlevania game.
Which is why I like bloodborne so much. It reminds me of Castlevania. I mean fucking hell look at Cainhurst.
please attempt to make a compelling argument that BB combat is fundamentally different from playing a dex build in DaS games
really though you can't seriously tell me that the aesthetic bombast in these games doesn't kill your immersion somewhat
DUDE STATUES AND COFFINS LMAO
DUDE CANDLES LMAO
Every game has some degree of aesthetic bombast. That's just your autism speaking.
You can't possibly be this retarded. DMC, NG, Bayo, W101, etc. all have infinitely more options in a fight than any Souls game. Souls games literally have you do the same two attacks over and over while dodge rolling any attacks that come at you. The actual combat is insanely simple.
dunno man seems like bloodborne in particular takes it so over the top that it stops seeming genuinely lovecraftian and starts looking more like a pastiche
>tes 6 comes out
>"so this is essentially the next fallout game?"
This is how retarded you sound
MORE!
You're the one making the claim that it plays like that when it clearly doesn't
a filler of space
yeah i didn't think you could do it either lmao
Sekiro is on PS4, too though.
Also, PS4 isn't dead.
It has a good game.
>makes claim
>can't come up with valid reasoning for said claim
>"heh, i win again"
sorry, meant Sekiro is on PC, too.
not necessary to argue when the point is self-evident to anyone who has played the series aside from you apparently
sekiro may actually approximate Dante/Nero's move set for the main character. that is why there is only one main weapon. in exchange you get a lot of depth for that one weapon and a lot of different skills tied to it. even though Nero only has red queen in dmcv he can still do many things with it that are interesting and promote a different form of player expression compared to say, builds in dark souls. dark souls has breadth but not a lot of depth in comparison to character action games, and sekiro seems like it wants to try a more in depth moveset for its main character. which is great, and certainly welcome after the focus on breadth in fromsofts action games for the last decade.
>tfw coming back to play the game frequently ever since release
At least my PS4 isn't collecting dust.
FS should keep using the souls style combat for side projects but I hope their next big game is a bit more than a dark souls reskin. Its just tired at this point. Next to nothing has changed since Demon Souls.
They have the talent and ability to make good slow thoughtful combat so why not push it entirely in the other direction and finally give Platinum some competition.
Sure buddy
You should try it out, it's a really good game
>first weapon you can buy is a giant hammer attached to a sword
>dex
keep pretending lmfao
Yes!
Why do people want Bloodborne 2 so much? What more is there to do with that story?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Armored Core was gay.
This game is very very very very very very very different from dark souls. It's a lot more focused and I think it has the potential to be the best thing From software has ever made.
Its true, a lot of the thrill of that game was going in for beast hunting and finding out it was Ayy Lmaos all along. Can't really recapture that.
>can't use Bloodborne because that's exclusive to a dead system.
seetheing and copepilled
imagine being this faggot
does this exist?
Yeah, it has the golden guy on it.
Who was Celo? Which ACFA ending is canon?
here i couldnt find one so i made my own
Nice, thanks, I'll use it for tomorrow's thread.
how the fuck has this thread passed 100 replies?
i also just realized he originally said nioh, not sekiro
give me a few minutes
Destruction being the final/hidden ending implies it to be canon. If not Strayed, someone would get sick of that whole situation and blow everything up to try and reset things.
Wow, this was unexpected.
please dont
OP samefags his own thread. he's been doing this for at least a week
It's called "discussion", dillweed.
ok here, me
That is actually a lot like the one I was talking about looked like, good job.
It does feel like it has less content than bloodborne. And the japanese aesthetic is getting tiresome,at least throw some european waifu into the game make her a portuguese warrior that came with the missionaries and sailors(dressed as a guy) and
Sounds like the game you want is Way of the Samurai.
Cringe
Pastiche of what, jerkoff? You don’t know shit about aesthetics.
It's like a pastiche of aesthetics. It insists upon itself.
dmc5 is the same old level based arcade floaty shit
LOL DOOD I CAN SHOOT A GRENADE LAUNCHER!!
The fuck? DMC5 has a grenade launcher?
Which aesthetic styles make up its pastiche? How does it insist upon itself? (One of the dumbest fucking criticisms I’ve ever read btw, fucking retard.) Every area in the game fits a fairly narrow Gothic mood, with even the deviations (Cainhurst, Hamlet) fitting the suggested time period and look. You’re fucking stupid.
>youtu.be
>all these autists will watch this and still try to spout i-its not just dark souls i s-swear!!!!
Lol
Wrong wrong wrong, fucker.
They took inspiration from Kurosawa movies more than any other thing.
And my point was that you can't compare something just because it has some elements from another game universe. Be it the setting or some items or whatever.
Obvisouly Tsushima is in no way relatable to Nioh or Tenchu. These games don't play the same at all.
Stop trying to compare things when they don't have the same playstyle nor philosophy. You don't make yourself smarter, you only look more stupid.
"Call of duty:WWII is the same as Battlefield 1943 because they feature the same time period and some of the same weapons."
See how that's retarded?
based
pic related is @453806129
I like RPGs and RPG elements as much as the next guy, but they don't need to be in absolutely every game. I don't know why they're shoved into every game nowadays.
>roll behind back
>hit hit hit
>roll behind back
>hit hit hit
>roll behind back
>hit hit hit
It really is just dark souls huh?
See, that's where you're seriously brain damaged my dude. Souls games don't "have you" do anything, you can play naked, you can play magic, you play any build you fucking want and they don't force you a particular playstyle. If you did play only physical weapons through all of the games, that's obsiously your own choice and not the design of the games.
On the contrary, I recall that in Ninja Gaiden games, especially in the harder difficulties, you're basically stuck in doing the same retarded moves and special moves to survive and progress the waves of enemies. Even the master players are obliged to do so.
But anyway, I wasn't talking strictly for the combat but a lack of options.
Turns out, Sekiro lacks options for the player. Every player is mostly going to play in a samey way. To me that's called a regression. Period.
to be fair i usually use the biggest heaviest object possible to hit things in the souls games so i dont even bother rolling to the back, just tank everything from the front
Yeah, this looks like it'll scratch the ol' Dark Souls itch. I wonder if it'll control well on mouse & keyboard or if I'm gonna have to whip out the PS2 controller again (PS2 is the last Sony console I own so I have an adapter for the controller).
get a controller, i dont even want to know what the fucking mouse would control like
I can't put my finger on why, but this game just doesn't look very good. It's basically a ripoff of Nioh's aesthetics with Souls combat in a Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden type game. It's really not interesting and will probably be pretty short.
Well it certainly controlled like fucking garbage on Dark Souls, which is odd because I have played some action games with good M&K controls, thankfully there was a mod that let you put in the Playstation inputs on all the button guides.
how do you know that every player will play the same way? parrying will be a core mechanic but it isnt the only way to get down an opponents health or posture. you could spend a lot of a fight attacking from range with the grappling hook and shurikens, or dodging around and hitting hard with the axe and sword. you could take time to use an opponents weakness against them or utilize stealth to score free hits. there are plenty of prosthetic weapons to use, weve already seen around 5 or 6 with more that weve only heard of, not to mention the multitude of ninja skills and combat arts to string into attack strings and combos
sounds like you just dont have any imagination
>That sound when dealing damage
Yikes. Sounds pretty bad, like not a katana slashing but a hammer hitting metal.
There will most likely be a spiritual successor but this game isn't it. It's its own thing. No connection to Souls. No connection to Bloodborne. No connection to King's Field or Shadow Tower or The Adventures of Cookie and Cream or Lost Kingdoms. It's its own thing.
But this is most likely a bait thread so this will be ignored or shitposted to death with
>it's just souls but more parries bullshit.
Carry on.
>The Adventures of Cookie and Cream
I feel like this would be a good candidate for a Dark Souls-esque reboot.
youre completely right, whether they want to admit it or not
>No connection to Souls
not lore wise but watch and if you even begin to say that's not just straight souls combat you're fucking handicapped.
Passing on this for Ghost of Tsushima.
>character jumps into the trees
>this is souls combat
oh excuse me
This whole company is just a one trick pony now I don't give a fuck about anything they make until can show they have the creativity to make something not tainted by Soulshit.
>wow bloodborne added a mechanic where you can transform your weapons its totally not dark souls v2!!
you know good and well that this is just souls combat with a very thinly veiled tenchu coat of paint. they even reused the fucking hit sounds.
You deserve a painful death.
I wonder how the changes will affect the experience. I played Bloodborne without ps+ so no online was fine and went through the game using one weapon and armor set. I think it will be refreshing to have it like this so everyone who plays has a similar experience but for longevity/replayability im concerned.
FPBP
not as gay as you faggot
This. That game looks fucking great, I hope it's out this year.
hey man saying dodging and then attacking is souls combat isnt wrong, but its also the basics of any CQC encounter in any video game, show, movie, or any form of media, including actual fighting, so of course it might feel a nit similar
no comment on the tenchu stuff though, never played any of them
Calm down.
Reminds me of this
boards.fireden.net
Armored Core:Cookies and cream edition
nigga it's just a ninja game
it's nothing like Dark Souls
The combat is Souls. Everything else is basically Tenchu/Ninja Gaiden/Nioh.
the combat is completely different. it is about as Souls as NioH
Interesting. That reminds me of this: danbooru.donmai.us
Sekiro is shit because Muh feudal japan is a gay ass setting only ironic weebs enjoy.
So you haven't watched any gameplay at all? Got it.
Dude, that sounds sick. I'd play that.
hey, it would only be like souls if every boss in a souls game could be beaten with parrying only
They just want to make a good ninja game. "Souls" is not a genre, they've been making good action RPGs. BB and Sekiro are starting to push the games in a more action oriented direction, especially Sekiro (which is more action adventure). The games share similar design elements but theres nothing wrong with that. Its the same dev, team, and director. Sekiro will feel like a FS game but it also does many things different as well. Compared to BB and Souls, it looks like the farthest departure so far. But yes, its still third person action melee combat and thus has elements they've been using in previous games. Ultimately though, its going to offer plenty of new things and will be a fresh experience. I just want some of you guys to start trying to understand game design more. Everything always falls under blanket shitposts and vast oversimplifications of game systems. Sekiro is right in line with what I'd expect FS to make and I'm really excited for it. Basically, what I'm trying to say that is there's nothing wrong with devs making games like this. It has some similarities with their previous works but also many differences as well.
most importantly:
the combat will be the most skill intensive
you can't summon anyone to make the game easy
Nope, the combat in Sekiro is about parrying instead of dodging
top kek
This
i saw how it plays , it's more like a bb game with a lot of tenchu added to the mix , i'm happy as fuck
They're actually working on a new unannounced soulslike, Sekiro was made because they wanted to take a break from the formula
So no character creation in this game? Seems weird. Does the guy talk and have a personality or what?
the level design in every dmc game is fucking trash
>Does the guy talk and have a personality or what?
Yes
Pretty bummed about there being not much in the way of equipment. That's what I like most about most From games, and not even just Souls but Armored Core and Shadow Tower too.
Shadows Die Twice? More like PS4 dies twice because PS4 has no games.
brilliant, it's dark souls but without any of the good parts
He's un-ironically playing the game wrong, which is why the boss is taking so long
It bothers me how they've said nothing about how the console versions are going to run.
Who cares? PC is better anyway.
>it's dark souls but without any good parts
So it's Dark Souls.
>it's dark souls but not fun
here
