>As I think we all know by this point in time, Universal is hard at work crafting an all-new movie based on the popular video game series DOOM. And today we have an update on the new film via our buddies over at DC who just passed along word that the flick is now called... wait for it... DOOM: ANNIHILATION. Not only that, but they snagged some first look stills from the upcoming movie, which you can check out below.
>Add to that, it seems like reports that said that this new DOOM feature was a direct sequel to the original 2005 flick featuring The Rock and Karl Urban have since been proven false. That update passed along, here’s the official synopsis for DOOM: ANNIHILATION which follows:
A group of space marines as they respond to a distress call from a base on a Martian moon, only to discover it’s been overrun by demonic creatures who threaten to create Hell on Earth.
It feels like this thing has been in production forever. It's going to be a humongous pile of shit.
>The film is written and directed by Tony Giglio (S.W.A.T.: UNDER SIEGE) and it stars Amy Manson (ATLANTIS), Dominic Mafham (OPHELIA), Luke Allen-Gale (DOMINION), and Nina Bergman (THE CAR: ROAD TO REVENGE). Jeffery Beach (JARHEAD 3: THE SIEGE), Phillip Roth (DEATH RACE: BEYOND ANARCHY) and Ogden Gavanski (CULT OF CHUCKY) produced and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (TRANSFORMERS) and John Wells (ANIMAL KINGDOM) are the movie's executive producers. Universal 1440 Entertainment is currently planning to unleash the new DOOM movie in Fall 2019.
Ah, I see they went with the Space Mutiny aesthetic
DOOMGUY:clap:IS:clap:TRANS
You know what the best part is? This isn’t just ANY direct-to-video “sequel”. This is a Universal 1440 DTV “sequel”. Have a sample of such films.

Doom has iconic demons and and iconic atmosphere, but it only has one consistent main character: the Doomguy. There is a story, but it's a video game story. It mainly consists of Doomguy running around at superhuman speed and slaughtering demons. Fuck, man, the movies don't even seen to HAVE the Doomguy. It's hardly Doom at all.
But hell, there in that Doom comic I've never read. Does that do Doom justice? Maybe Doom can be adapted to film, but Hollywood is just too awful to make it.
No, Hollywood is too stupid
>Video game about a guy in a helmet killing demons
>Make a movie, with the most generic subtitle possible, about a female soldier who doesn't even wear a helmet
Getting really tired of Hollywood's mentality of "We can do that better."
I'm baffled that most of these even exist, fucking hell
Also, they made 3 sequels to Honey, and I bet you never even heard of Honey before.
UNIVERSAL IS FUCKING IT AGAIN
And not just Universal, Universal 1440
ew
ehhh they just making it to retain the rights I guess
not like it's any worse than the new games though
Does it have the rock again?
>Jarhead is a trilogy
Fucking why
had to look it up but I do remember seeing the poster for it back in the day
Not only have I heard of none of those actors, I've only heard of ONE movie that any of them have been in.
Good times
It's literally just a zombie movie with space marines.
FFS, has there ever been an adaptation that missed the point more than that?
I wonder if it even has doomguy/doomslayer show up considering he's now recognized as the face of the series by the general public
It won’t include him.
would legit watch and enjoy dolph lungdren in Kindergarten Cop 2.
KC is one of the greatest movies of the 90s
Cash mad companies are out of touch again.
How did I not see this coming.
>Year 2010+9
>Still thinking that Doom is good material for movies/comics
Come on, I do like the game but it's not good material for anything other than video games.
The game's plot is basically a mute guy who's the only human alive, shooting demons and zombies and nothing else. Not movie material at all
thanks i hate it
Brand recognition.
Even though the sequels totally missed the point of Jarhead 1.
There is nothing in that statement that is remotely promising.
>takingover
And here we go again.
>Dude Doome 3 was so cool amirighte?
Is Hollywood retarded? Just make a full length movie out of this
youtube.com
all female doomguys
And just like that she killed all interest
Cool, looking forward to this. "Le doomguy" is played out, time for some new blood. Doom might actually be interesting for the first time ever with the sensibilities of Hollywood instead of incels.
That's one of the dumbest comments I've read here in a long time.
what was the point of making a doom movie without doomguy again?
To use the name.
To appeal to people that don't sleep in a cum stained race car bed in their moms basement.
The biggest (non-Transformers) movie I saw from that listing is Cult of Chucky.
Maybe they could have Crash or Phobos from Quake 3 Arena?
no you wouldn't, it's fucking ass
Anyone who clamors for a Doom movie of any sort is a special breed of moron. The strengths of Doom have everything to do with the fact its a video-game. Otherwise you get cringe like the comic or the movie that tried to be Doom 3
>here’s your doomgal, bro
>A group of space marines as they respond to a distress call from a base on a Martian moon
>A Martian MOON
>MOOOOOON.
>the comic
>cringe
Get out.
That looks really gay. Comic books are the lowest form of entertainment on the planet, they're made for retards.
Doom comic is cringe, but its the good kind of cringe.
>Kindergarten Cop
This might sound crazy but that movie actually made an insane amount of money. I'm not surprised a second one was made.
>tfw actually enjoyed 2005 DOOM for what it was
I just treat it as an alternative arc. It is by no means the greatest action movie, not even close, but the first person sequence and fight between The Rock and Reaper were great.
As far as something to watch on Netflix a couple times it's at least watchable which is basically good enough which is more then I can say for most video game adaptations.
TWENTY SIX YEARS LATER
Jews gonna jew.
>oy vey, look at how much shekels this made, why wasn't a sequel made?
this looks boring as shit
the plot sounds just like Aliens but with demons instead of xenos, the uniforms look incredibly generic and 'primitive' considering the setting, and the makeup on that possessed zombie guy looks terrible
