You can get 90% of the series prior to KH3 in one collection right now called "The Story So Far". All it's missing completely is the browser and mobile games, though the two least important games have been reduced to just recap videos. Not a huge loss.

The walls between worlds were already broken in 1 because of Ansem and the Heartless scourge, this is literally a plot point in 2 because the walls and worlds that had been lost were put back up when Sora and Mickey shut the DtD.
