What are Yea Forums's thoughts on DMC5? Did it live up to the hype? Did it surpass DMC3?

At chapter 8 and it's fun. Playing on Devil Hunter and the combat against normal enemies is too easy, but some of the bosses have been really fucking difficult.

The only problem with V is that outside of aesthetics, I feel like there is nothing inherently fun about playing him UNLESS you appreciate Jojo and stands.

Why is 4 better?

Normal enemies aren't very difficult but they are still fun to murder, some bosses arent very exciting like gilgamesh but overall great game. Secret missions also range from difficult to easy

Vergil probably read some biography of Xehanort and got some ideas on how to persist after getting blown up

Never played Capcom games before now because they tended to be low quality. Now my most played games of the last two years are all capcom games

EXTREMELY well-made in terms of graphics and performance. Super high tech. Even using the denuvo version, my minimum fps is about 115 totally maxed.

It's fun to play and whatnot but the stink of DmC is all over it in one of those 'it ain't washing off' ways which kinda cheapens the game in spite of how nice it looks.

For some reason I haven't pinpointed yet though, the gameplay doesn't feel right. It's very casual and the battles are pretty short and unexciting. With V, you can just stand in one spot and mash buttons and get SSS every time. It's weak.

Everything is constantly in slow fucking motion even on low graphics settings, it's frustrating. It's much worse in some areas than others, the train station mission is damn near unplayable.
I have a GTX 970 and an FX-8350, what the fuck could the cause be? Is it the relatively low VRAM of the 970, is it the game not being able to handle 8-core processors? Is it the fact that my PSU is only 600 watts, do I need more power?

Easier to list the cons than the pros.

- V is trash, press mash X and Y without lockon to SSS and hit Nightmare whenever he's up
- Orbs look bad
- SUPER easy outside of bosses, and at most you can expect maybe one death
- Nero is the only one with a good theme
- Art style is boring and low energy even if the designs look good
- Denuvo lags the game horrendously, out of sync cutscenes
- Dante's jump sound is gone, as well as the iconic firing sounds, but the replacements are at least okay

If it weren't for V it would probably be better than DMC4 for me.

V is so bad it's making me not want to replay the game. I'm praying this game is moddable and his sections can be removed.

Just beat Artemis. That was such a fun boss fight even when I had no idea what was happening. Bought enemy step right before it and that helped me stay crazy on her ass. Didn't manage to get to my punchline before I Iced her but can you do skateboard shit through her rings like in the trailer?

Dante's styles are more fleshed out than they are in 3. You can just go into missions with two arms and two guns and stick to just one style if you want.

Only complaint is the "cutscene" stuff that comes with DMC games where it always has to do something cinematic with interactables and paths, and the music not always being good. I like the devil trigger remix the best at the end but I also wished the original music that played at the final boss kept playing so I'm torn

I love how long and combat oriented the levels are. Nero feels amazing to play, there isnt a breaker I havent actively not used because its boring or useless. V might take some more practice, shadow feels clunky, like hes not good at closing gaps, but you can use DT basically every fight which is nice, and he probably has the best S air taunt. Dante feels a bit better, but im still absolute trash as him, theres too many mechanics for me to handle in the heat of a fight, maybe Ill get better with practice but not sure.

Harder difficulties not only increase HP/damage, but change AI and most importantly CHANGE ENEMY SPAWNS.

You get endgame mobs at the first levels in hard mode.
Playing on hard starting out wouldn't really work.

I loved Nevan, I almost exclusively used it and Rebellion in DMC3

Leaving dmc 1 aside because it's very basic due to it being the first of its kind and 2 aside because it's trash. 3 was the full package, great levels, music, bosses, and combat. 4 advanced the combat with even more depth however it was unfinished as fuck and the levels felt really uninspired. 5 feels like a combat upgrade from 4 while improving on all the bad parts but not quite on the level of 3 when it comes to bosses and music. I think it's as good as 3 but you could argue it's better or worse by a bit fairly.

The ending went exactly how I predicted it would after E3 and it was exactly what I wanted.

So did anyone else get an error thrown at them about GPU overheating or driver problem? GPU sits at 83c, which isn't close to being over temp limit, so driver issue seems the most likely, but I usually keep mine updated fairly regularly and haven't had much problems before.

DMC3 Dante didn't even have a true fleshed out DT, he mimicked his Devil Arms unlike Nero who went far past that and abilities of normal DT as well.

Nah, there's no glitter. Because I was speaking purely from a gameplay perspective. It was wholesome and Itsuno and the team really delivered. All my criticisms go mainly toward the story which, while fun, felt a bit unsatisfying for me. But the Vergil and Dante banter was great.

Make sure to check the movelist, everything in there is just a fuck everything to death move.

Mundus wiped his memories and sense of identity completely when he corrupted him. Only his lust for power and desire to win remained. Just saying.

Yeah, the last boss took me a painfully long time because Shadow was just whiffing everything. His gameplay comes together nicely sometimes but I'd much rather be playing pretty much anyone else.

You need to get him in close. His forward+Y is great for that. If you're locked on, don't try to move while attacking or you'll end up using his forward/backward skills in the middle of his combos. Dodging pulls him to you so utilize that when an enemy is closing in on you. Once you get good at positioning him he's your best damage tool.
or you could always just LT+Y and let him unga bunga on his own

Yes they are. Level 4 styles have more useful moves than DMC3. Trickster loses wall running but gets actually useful moves instead. Royal Revenge is a much better mechanic than whatever that healing shit was called. The only thing that E&I lost was the stomp but got an actually different E and I shot to compensate. The DMC5 styles are more fleshed out and have better moves even if there are technically less.

I've been downloading the game since midnight (19 hours ago) what the hell, I even left my PC on overnight, and you guys already beat the game when I've been still downloading it this whole time. What the actual fuck, this is unfair

The game falls off after Dante gets Sin Devil Trigger (which is really cool thematically but feels like an I win button). Not as badly as DMC4 does by any means, but it's noticeable. Levels get a lot more samey and (mostly) super linear, new enemies stop being introduced, story devolves into DMC3 wank, etc.

The core gameplay is amazing and easily the best in the series but the content is spotty. But honestly that was true of DMC3 as well, people forget how many crappy bosses and enemies that game has (whereas DMC5's bosses and enemies are all at least decent, no horrible ones). What DMC3 does have is a more focused coherent narrative. All the characters matter (there's really only four recurring ones). Whereas in DMC5 Morrison is pointless, Nico is amusing but pointless, and V gets (literally) taken over by Vergil and gets no payoff despite feeling like his own character.

What starts as a fairly interesting story gets derailed by fanservice. V is easily my favorite character in the game and the way the game treats him is so sad. The inevitable Vergil DLC should find a way to retcon him into his own person. It's clear they care about fanservice so why not?

I need to play through the higher difficulties to really give my final conclusion gameplay-wise.

It wasn't because of Sparda, its because he wanted to absorb Sparda and reforge Rebellion inside himself. Vergil doesn't seperate Arkham from Sparda with any slice he makes, nor does he cut dimensions in half unless he wants to. Conversely, Rebellion only works that way if Dante wants it to, or in the case of DMC3, a life or death instinctive reaction. In DMC4 he's just chill.

Demon blood isn't really important because the thing that made Sparda and Dante so powerful is their humanity. Nero is strong because he has demon powers and he has a soul awakened to justice or some shit. Vergil loses as Urizen because he has no humanity and he's only able to match Dante when he regains it in the form of V.

The place in the game is tying Dante and Nero both as inheritors to Sparda's will. It only playing for Dante wouldn't have the same effect.

Currently at Mission 7 (6?) and the game crashes when I fight using V, not sure why. Either way, I'm gonna sleep because I don't feel like playing through the entire night.
Gotta say that the game's awesome though, I don't really have any big issues with it, and I'm taking a liking to V's playstyle after trying him for a while.
I hope that he'll have a tougher time in the harder difficulties though.

There are Japanese voices, but it just doesn't feel right. It lacks the over-the-top craziness of the English. Plus I think it's made to sync the facial movements wih the English voice track.

I'm on mission 6. It's even esier as Nero is fucking beast. Some enemies got new moves as usual. Geryon knight had completely new experience on SoS for me. Didn't do much on DH.
