3-8-2019, the day the Nintendo 3DS family of systems finally died. No more first party games are planned for release, the only third party release remaining is an Atlus localization of a game already out in Japan with no English dub confirmed because they have so little faith in a 3DS game selling in the year of our lord 2019 that it wouldn't be cost-effective to produce one.
As with many Nintendo platforms, Kirby is its kiss of death.
Recently gone back to my 3DS and forgot how much I loved it. Recommend me some good 3DS games besides the obvious "usual suspect" first party ones
Easton Price
It lived a long, good life.
Matthew Jones
the homebrew launcher and once you've done that check out Cave Story 3D if you've already played the original pretty neat remake in my opinion
Gavin Rogers
Ehhhh 2015 onwards was kinda shit.
Bentley Hall
What do you reckon their next handheld will be? Do you think Sony will have a handheld
Brody Campbell
Reminder that Chibi Robo and Fossil Fighters died on the 3DS
Joseph Roberts
user, I...
Julian Edwards
CAVE STORY 3D FUCKING SUCKS, THE MODELS HAVE A HORRIBLE QUALITY, YOU CAN BARELY SEE THE PLATFORMS AS THEY MESH WITH THE BACKGROUND AND THE ANIMATIONS ARE POWERPOINT TIER. THERE IS NOTHING REDEEMING ABOUT IT. But the combination of backgrounds and music is neat and it makes you feel like it's a real cave, particularly before the core battle, but it still fucking SUCKS.
Chibi Robo explicitly because you didn't buy the spin-off. Tanabe said he was tired of trying to force him on an audience that "clearly" didn't want him
Gavin Murphy
Any new furniture in this game? Like plushes of Gooey, Rick, Adeleine, etc?
Charles Anderson
Seriously, that game is so, so much ass. You have to play in "Classic Mode" to swap out the character models with poorly compressed sprites to properly see what you're doing.
But whatever, I'm teetering on whether or not I should get this. Guess I should play the demo already. Might be the last 3DS game I buy otherwise, the only other 3DS game I bought recently was the Bowser's Inside Story remake.
If you like da grindan gaems then Fantasy Life is must-play
Ayden Barnes
>Might be the last 3DS game I buy otherwise, the only other 3DS game I bought recently was the Bowser's Inside Story remake. Apparently that game was completely finished by at least June because Kimsihima (and only Kimishima) is listed as the producer.
Lincoln Long
Chibi Robo is one of those things where the original game was good, but it didn't need to go beyond that. Just wait a while and port it, or make an improved version. Endless spin-offs/sequels are not needed or wanted for Chibi Robo.
Xavier Campbell
The DS sequel was amazing, too bad it was only in Japan.
Levi Nguyen
Park Patrol? That was released everywhere.
Brody King
There was another one that was Japan exclusive and an explicit sequel to the first.
Gavin Collins
Will probably pick this and Persona Q2 up, this console had a good run
Aiden Evans
>tfw dual screen gaming is dead
Joseph Bennett
You guys know this got a fan translation a few years ago, right? Go play it right now, shit's amazing.
Curious, so they decided to wait until after Christmas to launch a 3DS game?
You would've thought that they would publish it during the holiday season to get that last bit of 2DS sale goodness out or something.
Just played the Epic Yarn demo and actually, it's hella good. It feels improved in terms of gameplay. Then again my reference point is the Dolphin emulated version from 2010, which wasn't the most stable experience.
Actually curious how well the 3DS version emulates in Citra now, I'm gonna dump the demo.
Jacob Brooks
Anything by level 5.
Yokai watch, inazuma eleven, LBX, fantasy life etc
All solid jrpgs you can sink hours into
Kevin Robinson
Remember when Vita was going to kick 3DS ass? Good times.
Logan Williams
I wish this got ported to the Switch too. Would cop in a hot minute
Jonathan Nguyen
Reggie promised 3DS support in 2019 and must've wanted BIS, Yokai Watch 3, and Kirby to be proof of such.
Hudson Anderson
A succssful life span. And what better way than going with Kirby. A peaceful, full of light ending.
Elijah Bennett
That's probably it for 3DS support now.
3DS had a good life and still has a hella lot good games to play. Plus it's gonna have support as long as it has Pokémon, people are gonna wanna migrate them from 3DS to Switch soon enough. It'll probably just be done via Pokémon Bank though.
Kayden Thompson
wheres the cia file for kirby extra epic yarn?
Michael Wood
Were any of the DS/3DS Dragon Quest games good
Isaac Smith
Yea, literally all of them were.
Owen Flores
It started out shit, became really good, and then at some point it became a zombie because Nintendo started to get divorced from not only the 3DS but probably dedicated handhelds as a concept.
Luis Walker
>Do you think Sony will have a handheld It would be complete suicide to develop a handheld with mobile being this big.
Adam Collins
The online features for 9 don't work anymore which is kind of a shame
Jaxson King
Apparently there are JP and EU versions already, I'm just waiting for someone to dump the NA version. /hbg/ doesn't have anything yet.
Benjamin Jenkins
But according to Yea Forums mobile didn't do anything to the handheld market because all the games on phones are shit and the Switch exists
Thomas Wright
Yes!!
Ian Nguyen
Game looks pretty good in Citra. It has obvious texture compression/optimization for the 3DS screen, but I'm hopeful this might get a Switch release down the line with all the added stuff.
Looking good and playing good aren't the same mind you. I had stable performance, but not full speed rendering. My machine's not a beast though, a GTX 770 and Cire i5 4690K.
As Citra emulator improves it can probably pull it off though.
Yea Forums is retarded and said EA was going bankrupt years ago because one or two games bombed.
Eli Sanchez
I like how they didn't just drop the 3DS like a hot potato when the switch came out. It'll be nice to think the Switch might continue getting support for two years after its successor.
Levi Miller
VGC 2019 still uses USUM, but considering Gen 8 is going to be on the Switch, Pokemon has a few months left at most.
Christopher Martin
guise should I homebrew my new used 3ds xl? i only wanna play a handful of games on it, but i can't find them very easily. I'm thinking modding the console would allow me to fill an sd card with ROMs, plug and play, so it seems like a good idea but need a bit of input.
Wow that looks way goddamn better. What the fuck were they thinking porting it to a system with HALF the resolution of the original? This would've been great on Switch.
Austin Jones
There's both an enhanced eShop version of the original Cave Story with widescreen and shit and the original PC version emulated via retroarch if you want to play the translation with soul. There's zero reason to ever play Cave Story 3D.
Adrian Moore
Yup, Cave Story 3D is some appalling shit. It lacks polish all over. It's not just visual problems, the actual gameplay feels off. It's probably why they shoved in unskippable health upgrades for a new maximum of 100.
Julian Gray
It's not the first Wii game they ported to 3DS either. The 3DS certainly wasn't hurting for games, and neither is the Switch right now, but Switch definitely would've been a better choice for Extra Epic Yarn.
Andrew Jenkins
God this game is beautiful
Sebastian Perez
Reminder that we could have got a stage based on this game in Smash instead of Yoshi's Wooly World.
For good measure, direct screenshots from N3DS via Luma3DS CFW. Since Citra still has plenty of accuracy issues to resolve.
Probably better than way, I love me some Kirby Super Star/Ultra representation. Why didn't that Woolly World stage return for Ultimate, though? Incompatible with stage morph or something? I mean nobody fucking uses stage morph, they don't even use it for spirit battles.
It had an incredibly good run tbqh, the switch will never surpass it.
Caleb Edwards
Custom 3ds firmware region free just play the eur one
John Allen
F. It never got a proper successor. And no the Switch can't do everything the 3DS could.
Cooper Stewart
I basically never used my 3ds Hacking it gave me reason to use it Even if I haven’t used In forever still
Isaac Long
Play Yokai watch 3 you niggers.
Andrew Walker
I tried to get into YW but didn’t enjoy the combat mechanics too much. How good are LBX and FL? I’ve read that they are ok at best.
Jaxon Ward
Not him, YW3 unfucked the boring combat system, a nice comfy game with a lot of stuff to do.
LBX is a spiritual successor to Custom Robo, so you will be collecting parts, weapons and what not, the story is... surprisingly serious but it just makes it ridiculous because they are fucking toy robots after all.
Fantasy life is basically an offline MMO, with a shit metric fuck ton of stuff to do, the DLC further increases the playtime quite a bit too, I'd say that using all lives is the best way to play it but the game will easily go for more than 100 hours if you decide to take that way and another 100 for the DLC.
Ethan Evans
Got a link?
Dominic Brown
I'm still playing Strange Journey Redux and Pokemon UM on it. It's sad that handhelds are dead and the Switch is expensive as fuck in Brazil.
Bentley Mitchell
>the day the Nintendo 3DS family of systems finally died It's been nothing but ports/remakes for a couple years now
Jaxon Cox
Recently hacked my 3DS and now I use it to play native GBA, free 3DS titles, and DS games using a flashcart.
Those shady sites are as reliable as coolrom was back in the day, there is nothing to worry about.
Jack Smith
Google 3dscia, is a dedicated webpage with a lot of cias easy to download so you don't have to bother searching through the 3dsiso forums.
Currently I just check these threads and /hbg/ whenever a new game releases so I can catch the mega as soon as someone posts it.
Matthew Howard
That one and other that is on spanish called "recoleccion juegos 3ds" are my favorite, they have all the shit I need.
Chase Ramirez
Every cia I have is legit so if an update is ever issued, it will update just fine because the keys and everything match up. Cias converted from .3ds don't do this, even if they're otherwise "fine". Probably sounds trivial but I like the fact that all of my games were generated no differently than the eShop itself would have made them.
Gabriel Morgan
is hacking your 3ds hard? Do i have to buy some extra shit to do it? I want free games since the system is finished now
Levi Ortiz
Is piss easy, check the guides in /hbg/, I forgot the webpage.
Benjamin Hall
if you're on the latest fw, you probably need a compatible r4 flashcart and a magnet, there are other ways but it'll probably cost even more. or if you have a friend with an already hacked 3ds, that might work too
Gavin Roberts
It doesn't seem to have a download handy for Severed.
I actually got this from My Nintendo with gold points, but it for some reason will not download on my 3DS. Always gets error code 005-2008. I'm not banned or anything, I can get most other stuff downloaded from the eShop just fine.
S, garbage hardware and the worst Nintendo handheld
Hunter Torres
That's an error code I've been getting for a while already, even the Nintendo support webpage didn't give me an actual solution, and it happens whenever I try to redownload games I already owned.
Reason why I just go straight to install with cia.
Ian Martinez
There are also methods that do not require a flashcart or an already hacked 3DS, such as seedminer.
Still have to buy dsiware though, it seems? So that might cost more if you already have a R4 cart somewhere
Jaxon Martin
Not all R4 carts will be compatible, chances are you will need to buy a new one.
Thankfully the guide is very detailed about that too, including which ones you should think twice about buying due to timebombs, and even where to buy them. 3ds.hacks.guide/ntrboot
Mason Clark
Autism. Just a pet peeve that I want to have the NA version of a game, unless it's a botched localization like for example with TriForce Heroes. With games like Etrian Odyssey Nexus you also can't share QR codes with different regions, so there's that.
Samuel Morales
>3DS dies >Still no translated Love Plus 3DS
sad.jpg
Colton Harris
I hate that. How much could it possibly cost Nintendo to just maintain all of their online networks? Keep up 3DS stuff. Hell, bring back the DS stuff, too. Why kill it?
