I've got a pretty good track record of not falling for fake leaks and calling correct ones but this one got me good. All the circumstances surrounding it were way too suspicious. Disappointed with incineroar but all I really cared about for ultimate was confirmed on August 8th.

The November Smash Direct revealed Incineroar and Ken as the final characters in the base roster. The Grinch leak had 7 characters. Even if you include Piranha Plant, who isn't part of the base roster, the Grinch leak would have had 4 more characters than what was revealed in the Smash Direct.

The Grinch leak meant that we would have gotten 16 new characters. That's too much when you consider what Sakurai has said.

The Erdrick one I can at least understand why someone would believe it, but believing the Doomguy/Ryu/Steve one is still baffling because literally nobody with that much information would be in a position where they can leak it without getting busted and sued to hell and back by Nintendo and likely everyone else involved.

Most people who believe text leaks don't really think about the fact that 5 different companies would have had to tell this person the release for 5 of their games while also telling them all of their characters were in Smash. I guarantee nobody but the highest of higher ups at Nintendo know the contents of the Fighters Pass currently. Especially considering a lot of Nintendo employees didn't even know Smash Ultimate was a thing until it was revealed.

All I wanted from it was Shadow. Everything I wanted I got so I thought it was a winning streak, Pokemon Trainer, Snake, Ridley, K. Rool. Everything else with the Grinch was just a nice extra.

Anyone who has used image editing software before can crop characters and move them around, and it didn't have to look good because he knew it would be low-res and blurred to hell. All he had to do was cut up some character renders, splice them together, paste them in random places, and move some of the others around. He could easily paint in any holes he made, too. I don't think I can emphasize enough how "only okay" this shit had to look to pass.
