A good videogame
Baka Mitai
70% good movie
30% fun game
An excellent videogame
If you like the first "dungeon" you're going to love the game
This guy
A piss poor attempt to give Memejima a serious backstory that he didn't need outside of getting eye-raped.
an okayish game
LMAO HE'S JUST WEARING UNDERWEAR
THIS DUDE FUCKING WILDING ROLF
GOTY
>you have the eye of a mad dog!
Huh, okay, guess we'll have to take your word for it because the story sure as shit doesn't establish anything.
Do I need to have played any other Yakuza titles before this?
Batman-tier combat with an overrated story that's superbly cringey. If you're one of those guys who likes ironic cringe like dmc, you'll like this game.
no
there's some foreshadowing for the future yakuza games but since it's a prequel you don't really have to know shit.
Thanks :)
A breath of fresh air and joy
I'm currently playing through.
Never been a huge fan of cinematic heavy games, though the story is intriguing enough.
Lots of side content that is pretty well done.
Combat is serviceable.
Thanks Bros, I'm alright with Batman-esque combat so I'm excited now! Got one more hour of download
so this one or kiwami for a first yakuza game? isn't one like a prequel, should i play that one first?
The best karaoke game to ever exist. Story is cool too, I guess.

Kiwami is a good game but it's worse than 0, so it depends. If you play 0 first you'll have a blast but you won't like Kiwami as much, but it doesn't matter too much. You really don't need to play any other games before 0, it establishes its characters well enough (though remembering every clan and family can be a clusterfuck at first).
A lot of testosterone
>tfw im the only one who prefers calm and collected majima and not CURAYZEE one
oh shit there's that nigga Kiryu better go full retard for no reason
KIRYUUU CHAAAAANNN
haha sure showed him
Starting your bait with Batman ruined it instantly. Apply yourself.
did nobody in the development team remind the writer to put the selling point in the game?
Can i do the sidequests after the story? I'm kind of getting tired of them and how the tone clashes with what is happening in the main story.
think there's like a freeroam thing after you beat the story where you can do all the side content
No sidequests are missable, so yes. You get "Premium Adventure" after the story where you can basically do whatever you want.
There are some missable trophies but all of the side content available after the main story.
cool. I think I will enjoy the side content better that way.
>He really was a Yakuza 0...
Objectively untrue.
The only decent Yakuza game since Y2 on PS2.
You do realise that 0 gives him a backstory that really didn't exist for him in any shape or form and has a character in it that has the EXACT mentality (or rather, he is the Majima from the other games) that dies instantly just so Majima can take on his role.
What a backstory, Mark!
A movie with breaks filled with mashing the X button.
A one hit wonder in a series that's actually pretty mediocre
The best character introduction in vidya
The loosest vagina in vidya
Ineffectual bullets
i actually really like majimeme's backstory in 0 for the most part but these posts are hilarious to me
Is Kiwami really worse than 0? I'm almost done with 0 on PC and was going to get Kiwami next but I always see people say it's inferior.
Really good music, where some of the best tracks are used only once or twice

0 is just a really fucking good game in a fan favorite franchise.
It doesnt really matter that Kiwami is worse than 0 because these games are so close together you can just see them as continuation.
With the exception of 6, all the games are just a constant stream of "more of the same with a little more here and a little less there"
Yes Kiwami is worse, but it's still a pretty good game overall.
Kiwami is a fine game but it has some problems that definitely put it below 0.
It's basically just a standalone expansion for 0, IMO the combat style system doesn't really mesh well with Y1, and the game can be hard in really bad ways. (i.e. flooding you with enemies really early on before you even have an opportunity to invest in good crowd control skills or buy weapons, every boss having hyper armor out the ass and just powering through your attacks instead of blocking) The Dragon of Dojima style is also available from the start, but it's gimped to the point of being utterly fucking useless unless you grind out recurring Majima boss fights for a little over half of the game which I think is a waste because it's such a fun moveset and having it be usable would alleviate a lot of the early game tedium.
All that being said the game is still fucking awesome, and if you liked 0 you'll more than likely enjoy yourself, so go ahead and pick it up once you get the chance.
do not play Kiwami first.
Kiwami's story will make even less sense and is so poorly paced that you will be left wondering wtf happened. Y0 is the best starting point because it gives some much needed context to the first game (kiwami). Kiwami is a really good game imo, but it's not nearly as complete or competent as zero.
Kiwami is an expansion pack to 0. Yes it's a remake as a first but it's meant to be the follow up for people getting in with 0.
fucking fun, dancing eurobeat and ungrateful whores
These guys are trying to fit in.
It's ok, but take a break after 0 or you will be burned very fast.
a really fucking boring game
most overrated meme on this board. humour falls flat, bland writing, run of the mill brawler gameplay, boring unvoiced patter.
its you who just has shit taste. now move on
this happened to me and now i never wanna play yakuza again
0 is really good though, kiwami is passable.
KYRIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
it did have a reason for majima developing into the mad dog persona he has in the later games, the issue is it was written by a japanese aka a bug man and they can't comprehend human emotions so it made logical sense to him while the rest of us had a hard time understanding the personality shift
Maximum comfy desu
N-NANI!
Fun karaoke and dance minigames
nihon boomer simulator
its great
Yakuza 0 had a surprisingly good story with some serious moments and sometimes a heavy tone. It's a shame the other 90% of the game is filled with ridiculous shenanigans, making it impossible for you to take the story or the game as a whole seriously.
But that's what makes it great. One minute you're in a super serious crime drama, the next you're gyrating your hips in a failed attempt to replicate a cult's signature greeting.
What everyone forgets to understand when they're coming from 0 is that despite Kiwami being a remake, that mainly just applies to quality of life, the gameplay, minigames, and a couple new additions. It's still a remake of the first game where substories and the main story were still taking shape so they go into it expecting everything to be like 0 which is the 9th (Technically 11th) game in the series instead of the first game of the series prettied up. Go into it expecting less humorous substories (But there still are some funny ones, don't get me wrong), a much shorter story with less development for characters that aren't Kiryu or Haruka (Though Kiwami helps with the Nishiki stuff a lot through the added cutscenes), and some gameplay tweaks from 0. Kiwami does feel like an expansion pack.
It's an okay game, its main problems stem from Majima Everywhere ruining Majima's story encounters by making them less special, him constantly bothering you, and ruining the Dragon of Dojima style for a majority of the game by locking really important bits of the style behind fights with him. They also made some dumb changes to the fighting system where certain attacks in an enemy's combo will just outright knock you down.
Styles are also both buffed and nerfed, they're buffed in terms of faster attacks, faster movement, some better abilities to take advantage of, and being able to instantly switch to another style mid-attack without having to sit through the style intro. They're nerfed by having Rush knock enemies away from you mid-combo if you attack them in certain ways while also being easier to knock down, Beast doesn't have super armor anymore so you get flung around like a ragdoll meaning its only use anymore is when you get close to an item you switch to it, swing the item, and switch out, and Dragon is only nerfed for about 70% of the game, once you get enough points into it the other styles become obsolete (As they should since it's Kiryu's main style).
Doesn't Beast style in Kiwani requires heat for super armor but gets drained faster on damage?
A fun video game.
gamefaqs.gamespot.com
Nope, what they did was put everything into Resist Guard (The L1 block) and took away the super armor instead to make you make use of Resist Guard in blocking attacks and damage. It's not like in 0 where once you gain Heat you're essentially unable to get knocked down.
Surprise towel cyclops
A goddamn great game
