I cant help but feel just kinda disappointed with Vergil. Urizen is fine but once he's back to Vergil he just kind of feels purposeless. I feel like it would've worked better if as soon as he returned to being himself he was just really tired of fighting and they worked some other threat in as the finale. I like the ending they go with for it but the climax doesnt feel near as meaningful as final fight with urizen.

Why does nobody talk about how ending sucks? There is no resolution to Vergil and Dante rivalry. Vergil's experience as V doesn't change him at all, he is literally the exact same power autist from DMC 3. Even after Nero tried to beat sense in Dante and Vergil, they still just want to fight each other. My guess is capcom deliberately did this to be able to milk the series if DMC5 turns out to be succesful.

Honestly I was hoping Vergil, V and Urizen would’ve all been completely different beings. I like Vergil a lot and I’m happy he’s back but I was hoping he’d just be a part of the story, not that the story would revolve around him. At this point it feels like it’s impossible to introduce anything new to the DMC universe that doesn’t have anything to do with previous characters. I was surprised and glad they had the balls to introduce a new demon king that was far stronger than even mundus, but then it turns out it’s just Vergil. His intimidation factor gets taken away a bit retroactively once Vergil comes back because it just all feels pointless.

They probably just don't know how to use it. It is absurdly fun especially on swordmaster.

How do I handle death scissors as Dante and Nero?

It's very slow with tons of end lag on every attack
Probably the best way to use it is not for horde mob fights but for the big enemies that are hard to stagger
As Nero just hit them until you break their scissors then buster arm them

In the end the breaker system feels really great as a supplement to the buster, it wasn't super thrilling at first but when you're able to wreck shit with tomboy AND DDT fuckers it makes this game way better

The game starts with Vergil literally cutting himself in two just so he can kill Dante, the game ends with them fighting for fun, even keeping a score inbetween fighting demons and having some banter. Being V and killing the remnants of Nelo has cleansed Vergil and now it's just Sparda style sibling rivalry, he even left his cherished book with Nero.

He wasn't motivated at all, but Dante came looking for blood, thinking Vergil is still up to his teenage genocidal antics.
And since at that point there was nothing else for him left and he was probably feeling fairly guilty for the Urizen fiasco - he obliged.
His Heel-Face turn was hardly sudden after being BTFO by Nero, you can't look at Vergil ignoring V.

His "sophistication" was all mostly an act anyway. It was his way to remain calm and collected, but now there is really no need for it since he's starting to realize that he really doesn't need power to keep Dante away from his shit and can just talk with him or have a good friendly fight.

Really the whole thing could have been solved a while ago if Dante had just let his brother know that he was sorry for always taking his stuff and kicking his ass. Vergil developing a complex about it and associating all of the bad stuff in his life with losing to Dante is just sad.

There are a lot of audio bugs going on currently. Cutscenes can sometimes cut out the audio completely and then resume again but delayed. With the ingame music bug the style meter won't even animate waves until the bugged music actually starts playing.

Way too overpowered. Sin DT is basically just a busted button to tear everything up. If you got excess DT into the Sin Gauge then you'd be able to go into Sin DT very very frequently, and that would kill it in my opinion. We still got Super costumes if you want to go into Sin DT frequently.

You have to use Shadow in speed form, if you jump off a ledge, you'll get lots of height and distance, then you can use Griffon's jump to go the rest of the way.

No, it has Royal Revenge instead, which is like a counter-stance that uses one pip of Royal Guard Gauge each time and sends back a Hadouken type projectile.

Since Vergil already has a katana, maybe another katana or wakizashi.

I rather have Mundus do all of that, but be too much for the sparda boys this time due to the fruit + training he’s been doing while in hell. Dante telling Vergil to run and get Nero, which he does would be great. That sets up Dante as Mundus right hand man via Angelo, so now the roles are reversed, with Vergil now trying to save Dante, and Nero & Vergil having father/son moments in the sequel

I do enjoy the fact that the majority of the bosses are Dante's old weapons come to life.

My only real complaint is that the games seems a bit easier than DMC3 and maybe even DMC4 as getting SSS rank with the first mission with Dante was a lot easier than it was in DMC4 but that could be just because I've been playing DMC3 and 4 on DMD difficulty forever and I can't remember what DH difficulty was like.

Other than that, like holy fucking shit everything about this game feels fucking fantastic and my only regret is that I can't finish today because I have work soon.

You don't need them at all unless you want everything unlocked in your first playthrough. The orb gain is not lessened in any way.

Plot was fucking terrible, characters were unlikable, environments looked cool but were pretty boring outside of the flashy stuff, bosses were bland, color coded enemies are garbage, and only two weapons were neat. It’s like on the level of that forgettable Dante’s Inferno and Lords is Shadow

That's literally the whole plot of Vergil in dmc5, something that Dante pointed out at the final battle. Vergil cut off his son's arm, destroyed the city of red grave, 'ate' its inhabitants, and still couldn't defeat his kid with nero's untrained and vastly weaker devil form. He did all that just for the power to beat Dante (and to return from the underworld) and he still jobbed it.

I've actually seen a couple pentagrams but been unable to find the point to stand on to get it to line up. I'm pretty sure it was the fruit, when Urizen ate it he not only got stronger but also had his "skin-like shell" crack and got rid of his tentacles, I think that meant the was cured and when he merged back to Vergil he was healed.
