Max them all to 10 then decide.
Magic archer. Trust me. Pew pew pew magic missle
Just roleplay Guts.
AUGHT
my nigger
Don't worry about min maxing. Pretty much everything is fun to play just play around with augments and stuff
NAUGHT
ask 9 different people and you'll get 8 different responses. no one likes mage
a lot of people hate the warrior since you only get 3 skills vs 6 with everyone else, but it's still incredibly fun. you'll do a lot of jumping attacks so if you don't find that fun then it's not the class for you. probably my favorite class though
fighter is a bit bland and in my opinion you'd be better off going mystic knight for shield based play. mystic knight is really unique in that the majority of your damage will come from perfectly blocking enemy attacks, rather than from you doing offensive skills
lots of people like strider and assassin the most because they're fast and have a dodge and double jump. if you want to climb on top of big enemies and attack them then you should go with one of those classes
ranger is a lot more interesting than ranged bow users usually are in most games. there's one problem though, most of the time you'll be starting fights from far enough away that your pawns don't register that a battle is happening so they'll just sit stupidly by your side while you defeat all the enemies. I can't remember if enemies run at you or not, been a bit since I played
I didn't mess with magick archer much. didn't click with me
sorcerer is pretty incredibly, but I found myself using 1 or 2 different abilities most of the time. it's also best to go with sorcerer pawns who have the same spells as you since you'll sync up your spell casting which speeds it up for everyone
GOBLINS
Strider if you wanna go fast. Honestly all of them are fun except maybe mage. Sorcerer on the other hand is a ton of fun
WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS
Ranger, Magik Archer, Assassin
t.bow loving fag
anyone know the way to gran soren?
just a hint: when you get to the ox cart escort mission, kick that motherfucker to make it go faster
Is Assasin a good choice? Just starting this as well. I'm asking both in terms of efficiancy and how fun they are to play.
>3 skills
inb4 mods
Literally the most OP class in the game. If you want endgame to be a breeze, play assassin. You dont even have to min-max anything.
Assassin gives you the greatest STR stat gain per level. It's very efficient, but it's not so fun when you can do everything alone.
Aren't you supposed to play on normal or something due to balancing issues a la S.T.A.L.K.E.R.??
>I want to play this game
if you play on hard you'll be doing no damage and you'll get killed by goblins. play through the story on normal, then consider bumping it up to hard for new game+
think i've seen some anons mention hard mode is hard at the start, but enemies give buttloads of money and exp in hard mode so the difficulty doesn't last long
Hard mode gives you shit tons of money and experience. You'll get one shot at the beginning of the game until a certain point, then you'll steamroll everything. Keep in mind that hard mode only increases damage taken by you and lowers your damage output, the other 3 pawn you hire won't change so the game isn't really harder or anything, it's actually way easier due to much faster leveling and shit tons of gold.
>cheating on your pawnfu with hired pawns
dont do this.
>play assassin
>equip augments that increase damage when travelling alone and at night
>equip force hatchet for and additional double damage
>4x conquerors periapt
>1 shot everything with my bow using eagle sight
That's only before the patch when they capped damage multipliers to something like 2
Never heard of that, source? The only thing I know they changed is the original 50% increased damage when alone and at night being nerfed to 25% in Dark Arisen.
dragonsdogma.fandom.com
>In Dark Arisen the total cumulative increase in Strength and/or Magick from Augments is limited to 80% total (i.e., 1.8 times)
There's no source for this though, but the comments seem to agree.
be a loli warrior
get a tall brown amazoness pawn with white hair who is also a warrior
only hire cute girls
>loli warrior
enjoy your much smaller sword and shorter range and hitboxes.
true hardmode
>prepare for half an hour to land that one epic arc of deliverance
>miss by an inch because you're a femalelet
FUCKING FEMALELETS WHEN WILL THEY FUCKING LEARN
I think it looks relatively bigger.
weapon size scaling to height is probably DD's only flaw
I wanted to be a little girl with a giant sword
it's femlet bro
and you should only do arc of deliverance when an enemy is knocked over and you're right up in their shit so you shouldn't miss as a loli or a superior shota
I tested it and the size of the sword is relative to the body size and the hitbox on the sword is also relative to the sword size so you should always make the tallest character if you want to plays as warrior.
strider/fighter/warrior if you want to have fun
archer if you want to play a fps
mage/sorcerer if you want to watch cool cutscenes
>shota
>superior
I remember when a loli pawn was the top rated pawn when the game came out for PC
it wasn't a loli though
If you're going to minmax, go for assassin. Dork.
warrior
That has nothing to do with minmaxing. Having a bigger sword means you can hit flying enemies much easier, you can hit enemies that are further away from you with that 360 wipe attack and it makes it easier to land evey attack in general. It just makes warrior more viable and less boring.
You need to play all the classes and max their ranks before you decide on playing one class or you're going to fucking hate the game.
You need to unlock everything before you decide on maining one class. You can use perks and skills from other classes to make one class better.
If you play one class the whole game, you're a stupid retarded, unimaginative shitter, and you will not experience the full power of that one class and you will be bored wanting more out of it.
Play all the classes, max them and buy all the skills before deciding on one.
Or not, be a retard with shitty stats and shit moves.
>lowers your damage output
No it doesn't
Or at least not directly, your offenses stay the same and enemies don't get any more hp or defenses, but their stagger resistance goes way up and your stamina regen goes down. Depending on how you play that can definitely decrease your average damage output, but if you're chugging mushrooms/liquid vim anyway it doesn't amount to much
>Loli warrior
Enjoy not being able to hit shit with your shit fucking reach.
Goddamn, it's like making a loli packmule.
>he doesn't like the added difficulty on top of being a warrior
Hard doesn't lower anything.
It increases enemy knockback resistance of and your stamina usage.
Staggered enemies take more damage, so it you might feel like you're weaker but really things are how they should be.
>Warrior
>Hard
I can solo BBI as one on hard, that's not hard. Just gotta skip magic enemies. Literally just spam light attack. Shit staggers everything
I would say strider and its off shoots. It's the one that really let's you be constantly on the move and play to the combat's strengths the most.
didn't they remove the guts/griffith armor/weapons? Any good alternatives?
They're all crazy fun in their own ways, do what you like. I was fully expecting Archer to suck because most games don't do much for ranger style classes but I was pleasantly surprised.
Fighter chad is the way to go. Fucking Dragon Maw is great for killing drakes and hordes of enemies that surround you. Plus you have a shield which is pretty useful.
The stat scaling blows in this game. You either take 30 minutes to kill something or absolutely steamroll it. There's a very slim stat window where the game actually feels balanced.
>get to bitter black isle
>get to bosses and regular enemies that require extreme magic damage to even hope to defeat
why didnt they tell me it was mandatory to get your magic stat up? theres no way my pawns are even remotely capable of dealing with this shit and my magic stat is so low i do no damage
god damn this shit is retarded
the grind for cursed weapons suck. save before you identify things and reset if you don't get some good weapon.
>first time playing
>always like to make an older knight character, mystic knight seems right up my alley
>get of level to change to it, get a mace and shield
>shield stays firmly nailed to your back most of the time
Bummer.
The ghost armor was the only BBI enemy that I felt gimped against for not having magic damage.
Does this run well enough on a ps3?
15 fps lol. Get it for literally anything else.
Define well enough. I played at least 2000 hours on the PS3. It's not the worst thing ever but definitely not for everyone. It runs at 20fps and letterbox.
cumming on selenes feet!
They shut down pawn servers for ps3 a while ago, even if it ran well you'd be better off on PC or the newer platforms
I think ps3 servers are still up and it's just 360 servers
if you are going the 2 hander class make sure to get a mod that lets you use 6 skills, also if you are gonna use magick archer get a mod that fixes the stat growths so you arent pumping magic defense and forced to level as sorcerer so you do more than laughable damage
don't listen to anyone here, run assassin for your first playthrough.
if you start the game on its hardest difficulty then there is no other choice than warrior with a healer companion. You can change classes later on.
We're probably gonna get dragons dogma 2 soon now that dmc5 is done.
I like your optimism, user.
Playable with significant drops from stuff like Magic Cannon, but if you have even a moderate pc from the last 5 years it'll probably run a lot better
Start with mage, swap to sorceror when you can, and play sorceror up to level 80-100 then swap to magick archer for the most fun experience
itsuno flat out said he wanted to make it, then said "now that dmc5 is done I have to work on something else *smiles*"
i got as far as the dark bishop or whatever and i cant do fuck all against him because my pawns are useless
fighting eliminators was hell too because once again if you aren't a mage yourself you have to rely on pawns which are beyond retarded and completely incapable of even fighting those ghosts that appear at night let alone an enemy like eliminators
havnt played since that experience desu
Assassin is the strongest class, and has the most variety in what they can do
I always recommend people try Magic Archer because that sort of playstyle is pretty unique among action RPGs.
He said the same thing about Rival Schools 3, but I imagine Capcom would prefer a DD sequel given how well MHW has performed.
Not the giant beholder?
>mfw warrior is objectively the worst class
well the difference is before he started on dmc5 capcom told him he could make either dmc5 or dd2. I doubt they'd now say "okay itsuno we know you wanted to make dd2, and mhw did great and dmc5 is doing great as well, but that offer is gone. you can no longer make dd2 that was a timed offer, make x instead"
inb4 Arc of Deliverance webm
>NUH UH WARRIOR IS THE BEST, WATCH THIS ONE SHOT
Is that really as deep as it gets?
All the classes are boring at level 10.
Why do you have to rely on a mage against Eliminators or the bishop?
They can be tough fights if you aren't playing an easy mode class, but they're very doable
youtube.com
Ghosts are dumb and probably shouldn't exist, but you can just ignore them 90% of the time, and magic tomes and innately enchanted weapons make it doable if tedious
keep in mind you can switch vocations at any time and the game motivates you to switch vocations to get augments from each(can be applied no matter your current class). You should have fun with all of them and then settle with one later.
but as a person that played the game a shitton, I can tell you the following:
>most active, movement heavy, good deeps
strider, no question. Brain Splitter is absurd, and with instant reset you'll be a living chainsaw that never stops moving.
>most broken late game
Magick Archer. Permanent x4 Demon's Periapts(Magick Rebalancer) and a perfect set of abilities that are hard counters to every BBI enemy(ninefold, explosive volley, ricochet hunter) is just disgusting. Boring to play, though.
>highest deeps if you have the patience of a saint
Mystic Knight. Abyssal Anguish is a ridiculously good buff, but it runs out in 30s and takes 10s to cast so it's a bit annoying. Magic counters are fun but kinda worthless, great cannon is a bit boring so don't spam it too much
>pawn only
Fighter, Mage. Fighter has some cool stuff, but there's really no reason to not just play as an Assassin. Mage has nothing to save it.
>wish it was fun
warrior.
>holy focused bolt
Sorcerer
>most versatile
Assassin. Can equip sword, shield, daggers and bows and has some fun tools. Has the minmaxer's stat growth too, so a few levels with it is good.
>farming daimon
Ranger
Magick Archer is fucking boring
Strider or Magic Archer. Or combine them
>About to play this game for the first time, what’s the most fun class to play
fighter
make your whole team fighters and enjoy the game
Warrior/Fighter, everything else is easy mode
Which ever one you like the most. Warrior is the weakest but people who like it swear it's the most fun.
Personally, i prefer Mystic Knight because I like the more methodical play style.
You were fooled by Yea Forums the game is shit and I will explain why:
>No indication of where roads lead
>No hint to what enemies are weak to
>No hint of when enemies are alone or in groups
>No warning to avoid status effects
>No clue to which items are masterworks
I don't know how people defend this game.
Is dragon dogma 2 coming out next year?
remember, you stats increasing differently depending on which class you play. like assassin has the best strength growth, warrior has the best heath growth, sorceress has the best magic growth etc. dont bother being mystical knight or magic archer until you somewhere at level 100 and leveled up your stats since those class has absolute shit stats growth.
Has anyone tried World Difficulty 2.0 yet? Released this month and looks a whole lot better than 1.0.
my favorite is the ninja or whatever rogue/thief double daggers it's called, cuz you can jump and do a SUPAH SPIN like sonic and it keeps rolling untill you hit the ground, so you can go BRBRBRBRB from the the to the toe of a giatnt, pretty epic
remember that stats aren't that important as it mostly comes from weapons so min maxing isn't needed at all and you should just play whatever class you like rather than worrying about playing a mage for 100 levels so you can then start "enjoying" magick archer
also getting wet all the time in bbi.
Maybe sometime next decade if we're lucky
enjoy not having the best skills for your favorite class.
Haha no. Even if they decide to make it it would only be starting development sometime between now and 2020, probably have a 2-3 year dev cycle, get delayed twice and then come out in 2025
assassin
perhaps i was just underleveled or something because i found myself doing barely a tiny fraction of that amount of damage with physical weapons, it probably would have taken an hour whittling away at an eliminator to kill it while in the rare instance that my pawn actually cast a good spell and actually hit it would take a reasonable chunk out
Most OP and most boring class.
THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEEE
damage calculation is simple but kinda dumb
after resistances are applied, defense is applied directly, so if you deal 500 damage and the enemy has 499 defense you'll deal 1 damage
if you get an upgrade and deal 700 damage now, you'll deal 200x more damage
Your first BBI run should probably abuse periapts against bosses or special enemies because you may just be unable to pierce their defense at all. When you get lvl 2 or lvl 3 bbi weapons the situation changes a bit. Either that or use more attack boosting augs like Autonomy(20% more when solo) or Exhilaration(35% when at less than 33% hp)
Based. Inexcusable game design.
SWORD ONLY SOLO ASSASSIN
>can't dodge roll with a sword
>intimate gambit sucks compared to masterful kill
fug
>Resident Evil 7 - 5 years development (started in 2013)
>Monster Hunter world - 4 years development (started 2014)
>DMC 5 - 4 years development (Started development in 2015)
>Dragons Dogma 2 - 4 years development ??? (Started in 2016, released 2020).
Thoughts?
But Dire Gouge though
*resident evil 7 started development in 2012, not 2013. My mistake.
itsuno was working on dmc5 and dd2? no, he'll be starting dd2 now, so 2023 if we're lucky. or maybe a bit sooner as they're getting more used to the new engine, but definitely not next year
roughly the same DPS as thousand kisses, and much lower dps than strider with hundred kisses(because lmao innate +50% damage on climbing)
They work on titles at the same time. Besides since they’ve more experience with the new engine they would have a easier time developing.
Can you apply the dodge skill to other Vocations with the dinput mod? A rolling Sorcerer sounds like it could be fun.
this game is terrible
I can't fathom as to why it's so popular around here
I tried, didn't manage it. You can only share vocation-exclusive weapon skills with another vocation that can use that weapon.
Best I could manage was using Great Windmill on 2x Great Cannon. Lots of bullets.
>needing to roll dodge
>not just manually sprinting and parrying everything
Never gonna make it
ur terrible
Also from some researching. Resident evil 7 started development soon after res6 release, by 2013 they had a prototype that played similar to resi6 but they rebooted it the same year, probably because they saw Outlast and wanted something similar. Then they greenlighted monster hunter world in 2014, dmc 5 in 2015, and I believe dragons dogma 2 in 2016. I also believe they’re getting their economies of scale right and probably greenlighted new games in 2017, 2018 and 2019 excluding the resident evil remakes/remasters. Capcom is unironically becoming efficient and producing good products. Imo
intimate gambit sucks, the recovery frames are often so long that you'll get hit by another enemy. The best way to avoid damage with a sword only run is FMS.
That's a shame. Are there any other recommended mods besides /ddg/'s updated Pawn Manager?
You know what I love about fighter
spamming dragon's maw
not that I know, I only use dinput.
Swift Fortress is how you dodge with sword and shield.
he was talking about sword only.
>weather mod never ever
That one scripted bit of thunder at Bluemoon Tower is such a tease.
And then you get to the bosses like that one giant fucking eye or that zombie priest which constantly floats with his dragon and you are fucking useless as you pull your hair out looking at your ranged pawns doing literally nothing.
You know what I like about Fighter?
Getting Sinew and Vehemence and then switching to Magic Archer and lighting myself on fire
you seem bitter and angry
it is friday my guy
chill down
Instant reset is the best skill
it really is. This game's knockdown animations are so fucking long I can't live without it anymore.
assassin is nerfed in dark arisen.
the augments were, but that doesn't matter because augments are global.
fun ranking:
fighter > assassin > strider > ranger > mystic knight > warrior > mystic archer > sorceror > mage
power ranking:
strider > mystic archer > ranger > mystic knight > assassin > fighter > sorceror > warrior > mage
yeah, maybe in DD2 they will get some kind of range option.
still the strongest class by far, daggers counter is ridiculous
>Thinking Standing around and waving a stick is better
>Thinking Shoot a dragon with flimsy sticks would be better
Getting into the thick of the fight is what a real arisen would do you two just have shit taste and need to rethink your choices
That power ranking is wack
It should be something more like
Ranger > Sorcerer > MA(BBI) > Strider > Assassin > MA(Gransys) > MK > Fighter > Mage > Warrior
10Fold Flurry with blast arrows is the most damage you can do in the game
Holy Focused Bolt is very nearly as good, just not quite as spammable so even if it does more damage outright it doesn't kill the tankiest enemies quite as quickly
Mage at least has Comestion and Grapnel, which are very good, Warrior doesn't do anything better than any other classes.
Strider has more dps than sorcerer
Could be, I was just assuming fivefold wasn't as good as HFB, I haven't tested it or anything.
If you're talking about brainsplitter or kisses I'd argue that the time it takes to physically approach the enemy counts and would probably make up the difference
mages also have holy focused bolt mate
It entirely does make up for it
test it out sometime with all the physical attack augments and the jumping attack augment
>didn't roll MK
you fool.
Casting shit takes too long and last so little sometimes.
That's true, I tend to just ignore them since why would you ever play a mage over a sorcerer
They don't have as much magick as sorcerers since staves are crap compared to archistaves but probably still around assassin
Except I did, cause I was getting pissed at playing a Fighter in BBI.
Which sucks because I enjoy the Fighter more than the MK, but it's a fucking chore.
Train your pawn my man
for my fighter and warrior playthrough I made it to where my pawn would always spam holy affinity bolt attacks so ranged was not an issue
still very powerful, I occasionally use holy focused bolt even on my mystic knight
All roads lead to Gran Soren
>that one giant fucking eye
>wonder if that obnoxious to hit eye is his only weak point
>flail around for 5 minutes climbing all over him and falling off
>suddenly 4 tentacles start charging a spirit bomb
>shrug and kill tentacles
>giant fucking eye gets right up in my Abyssal Anguish MK's grill
>instant stun, all health bars disappear in 10 secs
The bosses in this game are so dumb
>implying you need anything else besides Powder Blast and Dire Gouge.
Throwblasts can do severe damage to any enemy and are an effective way to deal with physical/magical immunes if you lack one damage type
Items that cast spells can be very effective as well
>doing a playthrough without picking a class, meaning im a fighter without blink strike basically
>mage pawn
>no other pawns
>been going for a while, attacked by griffon
>Pawn yells about setting its wings on fire
>snipes it out of a dive with high comestion
>we actually manage to kill it before it takes off again
it's still fun
you can also just fuck around until he summons a portal under you that spawns a massive tentacle.
You can then just go under him and he'll poke his own eye out, stunning him for a huge amount of time. You can then just spam throwblasts if you're weak(the game coincidentally gives you just about the exact amount of throwblasts you need to beat him in the room before the boss) You can beat him as a level 12 mage.
This looks fun as fuck.
Going to make a loli warrior right now.
Any warrior tips?
Jump attacks are your friend
That's gay as hell.
following this, Strider has an augment called Eminence that boosts strength by 30% when jumping. You can grind out strider for a bit(rank 5 aug) and get a good boost for warrior since the jump attack is so good.
