I bet Aloy fucks like a demon thanks to her excellent fitness and massive daddy issues.

1- the arrowheads are mainly the high grade metal of the future, and many weapons seem to incorporate high-end components. For the same reason, things like kevlar dont stop modern arrows.

2- there are non-arrow weapons, including more sci-fi ones, that are in many ways objectively better.

3- many arrowheads rely on advanced tech.

4- its explained that the robots are designed by an subroutine AI core that can generously be described as going through dementia after the central core goes kaput. The AI design tried to mix and match natural and mechanical designs to play particular roles, like the napalm spitters existing to start forest fires as needed, and the humans point out that just a generation ago you could beat on a robot and they wouldnt respond AT ALL or just run away, cuz life preservation was their main goal. The core going bad now interprets humans as a greater threat

The studio has never done faces particularly well, but at least the VA work was consistent and pretty well done. No Oscar awards, but Aloy and Sylens both do their jobs and deliver their lines with weight.

Why not just have the death robots run on solar power? This biomass plan sounds inefficient and dumb.

Why not just replace humanity with robots if all life is going extinct? Just get an AI to create more AI. Human intelligence lives on through them.

I had this complaint myself, but someone pointed out to me it's because there are more men in positions to be effectively good or bad then there are women, and that makes sense. The only women I can think of are the elders of the Nora tribe (which Aloy loathes save for the one nice old lady), the one chick from the DLC, and the warchief who was the embodiment of stronk black woman don't need no man.

The latter was a abrasive and unlikeable, but you understood why she was. Meanwhile the game was pretty level with its portrayal I think and Aloy didn't fall into the trap of girlpower or anything. Personally, I didn't care for the big bads being 'Evil 'men' (Hephaestus and Hades or whatever the rogue portion of GAIA were) and the good AI's being women. That was pretty telling to me but again, on the whole, it was executed well enough that I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

That's the thing though, it subverts pretty much everything feminism wise. The Nora tribe are isolationist, superstitious semi-xenophobic morons who haven't progressed in years despite being highly matriarchal and beholden to their tradition.

Meanwhile there IS some admittedly hamfisted, 'no woman can be the leader of the hunter's lodge, rarely ever a warrior' in another area of the game that doesn't make much sense considering the setting of the game and you'd best have all hands on deck. But Aloy as a character isn't a feminist lead at all. She's level-headed, likeable, and spots the bullshit of her own tribe and calls them out on it multiple times. She's more at home in the patriarchal lands than her own and despite the story being about her finding her mother, the entire game she constantly remembers and mourns her father.

At best thats a band aid. Since Earth is the only known planet with life, its not exactly dumb to act to preserve that.

Thanks. That's exactly what I mean, there's a narrative reason that makes sense other than man=bad woman=good. And again, with Gaia (literal mother earth) being the forefront of the game, you'd expect there to be an overarching theme of motherhood, yet there's a lot of underpinnings of fatherhood too. Aloy wouldn't be who she is without Rost, and wouldn't get where she does without Sylas. The game doesn't brush those under the rug or push a stereotypical angle when she helps men.

I never have a hard time with frostclaws.

Just shoot them in the gut until it explodes and freezes them, then while on ice blow up the shoulders.

I just used bot fire and explosion trip wire for the most part.

In my experience fireclaws aggro a shitton more and their attacks take then further. Dodge them and you're fine. Frostclaws though, those fuckers have the damn ice spikes that travel on and beneath the ground and the ice balls that are harder to see because the entirety of DLC is blue and white.

You have a point. In order to cheese it I like using sticky and proximity bombs. The traps are really satisfying too.

Frostclaws are pretty easy to deal with. Just gotta burst the ice sac and they're pretty much fucked.

Now Scorchers and Rockbreakers? those things are fucking annoying. They both run away too fucking much. one of which that can tunnel any fucking where, and have big ass hitboxes.

It wasnt until the very end of the game until I found out rockbreakers cant find you if you crouch. A fucking throwaway line from an endgame NPC told me that.

Oh yeah rockbreakers and scorchers are fucking nightmares. First time I ran into a rockbreaker was entirely on accident and entirely on robo-horseback. I got fucking plowed. And the crouching thing works mostly, but if you don't have an outfit that buffs your sneak you'll get fucked sooner than later.

But that fucking Daemonic Rockbreaker fight is so fucking good, holy shit.

Scorchers I like to fuck with using the tripcaster and a shitload of bombs. So good.

Set stormbirds on fire and watch them burn, rockbreakers... use the shockwave arrows (forget the name) and freeze, then lay into them with the rattler if its specced for high handling. If not spam those hardpoint arrows, my nigga.

I dealt with them by using the Tearblaster weapon to shoot off the armor thats blocking their fire sacks. Other than that, It's just like fighting a regular frostclaw for me.

I cannot stress how useful the ropecaster is, my dude. You can shoot them once and fix them to an area while you get some breathing room.

The game could have used more unlockables for sure. More outfits and stuff. I liked the bluegleam armors because they looked like they belonged in the Frozen wilds over the other armors. They looked warm and functional.

I was really disappointed from combat against the robots. Most of them boiled down to run away and shoot with the bow. I was always waiting for new weapons but all you get is bow ammo those sling weapons, rope weapons and traps. They really need to learn from BOTW how to incorporate environment into the combat. Also more and bigger robots like thunderjaw would have been nice to see.
The sound design in combat is absolute terrible it always results in headaches after few hours of playing the game.
