I just beat Artemis and have no complaints so far. I've gotten S in each mission. Every single Breaker is ridiculously fun to use. I just wish Helter Skelter gave more style points, because it's a lot of fun drilling on people. It breaks Antenora swords really easily, though.
If the rest of the game is of the same quality as the first three missions, I'm gonna consider this the best DMC. The combat just feels so good.

I'm playing DMC4SE first. I've never played it, but I replayed 1-3 with the HD collection and got caught up hunting achievements so it got put off. Also, I've been playing other games inbetween, and with work I don't get as much time to play games as I'd like.

the game isn't the fucking messiah. it has flaws. However it is a very competent action game, is well polished, and has good production values. More importantly it's a love letter to fans who have been following the series since the PS2, the whole "waiting 10 years for a true sequel" thing. The developers have worn their appreciation for those fans on their sleeves, and pandered to them.

In a market where hardcore fans are increasingly seen as inconvenient necessities at best and 'bad customers' that make the experience poorer for others at worse, people are responding positively to this. It is as I said, to a degree, pandering - but also necessary due to a loss of consumer faith after DmC

Yea Forums, contrarian in nature as always, takes this continuous outpouring of support poorly. Because Yea Forums, like a victim of abuse, always expects a trick or a con. If things look great, something must be WRONG. And anyway, all these people constantly making these threads is ANNOYING. This of course results in many bad faith arguments against the game, which in turn IRRITATE those who are genuinely excited and pleased for the product. And genuine critique of the game will get lost in the shuffle, unable to be discerned from either side.

Which is why Vergil never had a chance to care for humans before whole V/Urizen incident.
However, lets not delude ourselves... as noble as his desire to protect human was, his ultimate goal was to get HIS power back. Because, at end of the day, no matter how "human" he is, it's just Vergil and Vergil hates being weak.
V even tells this to Urizen who was ranting about wanting more power. How they're both the same and how he knows that feel and how he will "get it" once their roots join.

V certainly isn't as evil as Vergil, but he isn't as good and selfless like his fags pretend he is.

DMC4 special edition was some half assing from capcom too casue they couldnt even be bother to change the scenary from DMC4 and just took Dantes model and turned it into vergil when he was suppose to look much younger similar to his DMC3 version.

I can understand certain location being untouched,but Vergil was in Fortune damn near 20 years prior to the events of 4 so the city should have looked much different and vergil should have had much different routes to take while revisiting some of the areas in 4

I'm pretty sure it was the fruit, when Urizen ate it he not only got stronger but also had his "skin-like shell" crack and got rid of his tentacles, I think that meant the was cured and when he merged back to Vergil he was healed.

I guess but I feel DMC5's different with the use of callbacks throwbacks. 5's pure pandering to fanbase, which leads to interesting stuff like referencing anime or weapons and bosses, to problems such as rehashed plot and the way they did vergil, while NT had to do a reimagining but then were forced to turn their idea of dante to something that tried and failed to resemble the original series. So forced to pander while trying to do their own stuff.
