RP is probably the single most enjoyable way to play games, although gmod is pretty dogshit for it, the voip is so bad you can barely even make out anything anyone is saying, and all it takes is like 1 other person to speak over someone and all you hear is white noise.

There's no good RP on the internet anymore. After the NWN1 community died down that was it.

m&b warband napoleonic wars has a couple rp servers still going but their communities are pretty toxic, and i don't use that word loosely. GTAV picked up an RP scene through FiveM mod, haven't really tried it out myself though. I've just been part of a RP community and we do scenarios through different games and stuff, you could try looking for a community but most people aren't into that.

San Andreas Multiplayer had quite a lot of those servers with quite strict rules, not sure if they had VOIP though. Not that bad if you type quick to be honest.

Yeah there's always been small forum communities/ex mmo rp guilds etc. but they're extremely incestuous, drama-driven and stratified. They don't look for good RPers, they want boot-lickers and props for their scenes whenever they're not cybering on private channels. I'm sure there's a few good ones but I always assumed they don't advertise and I can hardly blame them for that.

I've watched GTA RP on twitch a few times. Kind of weird, like normies getting into RP but they mostly just want to do normie stuff like drive a cab or file their taxes. Glad they're having fun but its too much like a generic chat room for me.

I played a clone wars rp server one time.
They had a massive event server everyone got deployed to and it was a massive desert map where they had us(70 people) defend a small town. Shit was pretty organized as well, you had Jet troopers flying from tower to tower beaning sniper droids, medics run to and from the fields base dropping medpacks and ammo to resupply the wall defenders. We lasted for about 2 hours because if you died in game you were kicked back to the main server and forced to wait for the event to end. It was kinda unnerving actually to be standing next to someone and calling out targets only for the guy next to you to be cut off mid sentence as he gets fucking domed by a enemy sniper droid. This combined with enemy hyena bombers constantly strafing the wall dropping bombs on clustered troopers while trying to hold off the never ending tide of battle droids made for a really fun and intense 2 hours of gameplay
