They basically latched the entire casual market with the capeshit presentation and story modes of the new NRS games. Just MKX sold more than all other fighting games this generation combined.

This means that all other fighters need to spend a big budget on a shoehorned cinematic story to even be able to compete, while also having smaller budget because of NRS taking away all the potential casual buyers, resulting in all Non-NRS fighting games this gen having less content and weaker production values than they had in previous gens.

That looks ok, but it lacks that ooomph and grit that MK 11 animations have. MK 11 combos look like stuff you'd see in a movie fight scene, which makes it look and feel better. Tekken is still too over the top and wacky looking.

Namco needs to revamp the juggling system, because it makes the fighting look bad. If they fixed that up and made more of the fighting look like fighting instead of punching people's feet and heads as they lay down in midair, it would give MK a run for its money for sure.

Watch that video again, the moves have impact, it's just realistic. Japanese fighters try too hard to convey impact and it looks silly and animeish. Like people literally flying back from a hard punch as tons of dust flies up and you hear some loud as fuck metal clanging noise. MK is more like real fighting or a movie fight scene.
