You can't name a more iconic sword in the 21st century.
You can't name a more iconic sword in the 21st century
Don't know what those are. Look like the swords I didn't use when I played Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
my dick lmao
Dude Sex Dragon Sword
I sure fucking can
Fuckhead!
The Master Sword
Buster Blade
Any Keyblade
Soul Edge
Gunblade
Minecraft Diamond Swords
It's not hard.

Did you forget about Frostmourne?
This one
|^^|____D
>answer that isn't Memehander
Thank God.
literally going for a str/arcane build in my replay of BB just so i can use the Moonlight Greatsword effectively.
Quick question: if I apply fire gems to it how will it affect scaling?
The only known fantasy sword to normie is the one from Star wars.
IIRC elemental gems other than arcane just do nothing. You can't change the damage type of weapons with inherent elemental damage.
How many swords are iconic enough that you can represent them in text?
Deus Ex came out in the 20th century. There is no year 0
Not even in the top-3 most iconic swords from its own franchise.
so if I apply a fire gem, it does nothing then? Not even affect the Moonlight Greatsword's base form?
That ain't Dal'Rends
Don't let fags spamming a meme build ruin the weapon itself for you
Correct. Same thing happens with the tonitrus and its trick buff, can't put fire or arcane on it.
> in the 21st century.
>1991
>1997
>Implying that's a real sword
>1995
>1999
>Implying a generic blue sword is iconic
LOL
incorrect.
___________
/___________|___
How did I do? Is it recognizable?
>Buster Sword
>Gunblade
>???
Moonlight sword is 20th century though.
I don’t know what either of these are but I bet you almost everyone recognizes the original Buster Sword.
Oh right. I forgot about spaces getting deleted on Yea Forums.
The Moonlight Greatsword is from 1994's King's Field and every single one of those swords remains more iconic and well known to the general public than it does today.
Based and redpilled
wrong
now refer to pic related for an ACTUALLY iconic sword
Buster Sword
Key blade
Muhnado
To name a few.
I think that may be the worst sword ever designed in any media.
Sure I can
Literally the second most popular sword in the world
*drives evil from the world, rebuilds the lost kingdom of Arnor, and returns prosperity and goodwill between Gondor and Harad*
This and whatever the sword Genji uses is called.
God soulsfags are delusional...
Everyone and their mother knows who the Lich King is. One of the most iconic character and weapons in the modern age.
Oh and did I mention the master sword?
ahem
Sure I can.
You type like a complete faggot, but I forgot about the master sword. Change my vote to that.
Lich King's sword has a name?
>that ugly ass hilt
>caliburn looks infinitely better
what was takeuchi thinking?
nothing even comes close to this
Lol someone sounds triggered.
Also this...
Probably thinking how much more simpler it is to draw.
is this nigger serious?
LET'S KICK IT UUUUUUUUP
AND SHOW THEM ALL THE THINGS THAT WE CAN DO
LET'S KICK IT UUUUUUUUP
ANOTHER NOTCH TOMORROW
I wonder what “frostmourne hungers” could mean?
underage who never played Warcraft 3 detected
Instantly recognizable
Yes, that's what my post was implying. I'm triggered because of your faggoty typing, but you were correct about the master sword.
But the OP is posting the Moonlight Sword which originated in games from the 1990s.
And they said in the 21st century not from the 21st century so the sentence doesn't care about origin point.
>1991
>the 21st century
I take it back anyways because the master sword originated in the 20th century.
of the twenty first century, not from, you illiterate fuck
Yes, Saber, excellent! That is indeed a holy sword worthy of a king!
...HOWEVER!
Last I checked there were like a dozen video games made since the year 2000 that featured the Master Sword in them.
Guys what did he post every time I try to open this image my head starts hurting really bad
*autistic screeching*
Also Arya Stark’s sword “Needle” and Jon Snows “Longclaw” are pretty iconic.
I don't give a shit about Warcraft or WoW, I've only ever known him through the cinematic and what I've read online
Jets are not swords, god damn you
Stupid king of heroes, that's not a sword, that's a drill.
BABY GIRL! WHATS YO NAME?!
My dick LMAO.
Nigga, that's 20th century.
Remakes, ports, and cameos don't count.
God I love everything about Saber except her route
OP didn't say FROM the 21st century. OP said IN the 21st century, meaning everything from the 21st century and older. This is why you don't skip English class.
Is this what Soul Edge is looking like these days?
user, pelase, this is the only right answer.
like it or not, this is actually the correct answer
Mickey's inverted version is way better
I wouldn't call either one iconic, especially no Needle, which is just a small sword. Longclaw is unique looking and easily identifiable, but being iconic means it's practically a symbol that represents its series, something people instantly associate with the thing it's from. For GoT, that's probably the Iron Throne.
An example of a sword that's like that is the Master Sword, it features in LoZ game logos on a regular basis and is virtually a part of Link's signature outfit along with the Hylian shield.
agree, but it's not even close to as popular as the standard.
Also Oathkeeper and Oblivion are the next in line after that.
Not only that the sword in OP is just a modern interpretation of a weapon that debuted in 1994. By logic the Moonlight wouldn't even qualify.
How about her anime?
what's Yea Forums opinion on the greatest boss of all souls games?
couldn't agree more
How can that even be used as a sword
>stainless steel
I don't like it, but this guy's right.
Extremely hard thrusts.
DEEN was trash but enjoyable trash. UBW is my favorite route and I liked its anime more than most people, I thought Saber was underutilized but also very cute. And I'm liking Heaven's Feel's movies quite a bit but as a guy who would say his favorite Servants of the original 8 are Saber and Lancer you can imagine my overall opinions of its events.
It's edge is magical
Second phase was too easy, first phase was annoying to chase him down all the time. Every he did seemed to move him just barely out of reach.
>How can that even be used as a sword
basically...magic, that's the whole explanation for why that think hurt like a truck.
It's magical and powered by the heart, and Sora has like eighty fucking hearts inside him so he can chop buildings in half and shit with it.
Thread should have ended here
"The Soul Reaver, Kain’s ancient blade - older than any of us, and a thousand times more deadly.
The legends claimed that the blade was possessed, and thrived by devouring the souls of its victims.
For all our bravado, we knew what it meant when Kain drew the Soul Reaver in anger - it meant you were dead."
>best phase transition in any souls game
>great backstory
>great OST that transitions brilliantly
>best reveal of the moonlight
>wields the best iteration of the moonlight
He's good challenge too. Pretty much my favorite boss.
Based on a series of votes conducted in /dsg/ and /bbg/, for each game:
>Demon's Souls
False King Allant
>Dark Souls
Manus, Father of the Abyss
>Dark Souls 2
Sir Alonne
>Bloodborne
Ludwig the Accursed
>Dark Souls 3
Slave Knight Gael
Based.
You clearly don't understand the meaning of the word "iconic".
Have you ever been struck by yourself and then bound to yourself so you could strike yourself with yourself and then you try to devour yourself?
If your going str arc use the logarius wheel not the moonlight great sword lol
>Manus, Father of the Abyss
Not Artorias? I swear he's like the most renowned boss from Dark Souls.
I would rather not become the ouroboros, thank you very much.
>poverty sword
You clearly don't understand the meaning of the word "iconic".
Artorias is fucking easy shit compared to Manus. Although you can cheese Manus with a greatshield.
I liked this fight more just for the sheer pleasure of finally cutting the tail off and killing him in the same attempt.
>any keyblade
*vomit*
Its a much more satisfying fight on ng+ if you ever get around to it.
I'm doing a ng+ run right now to get ready for Sekiro. I'll take your word on it since I'm almost there.
Interesting how 3/4 are DLC.
What does that tell us about From’s game design?
>meme sword memed because it's big and you can knock some mobs down
Maybe you can guess how I know you've either never played through the game or are just a shitter who listens to what his favorite YouTube vlogger says.
They learn as they create content and can of course craft the best fights after they have the experience of crafting all the others.
They aren't afraid to try new systems, but learn their lesson when it comes to making new content?
Skyrim's version of Dawnbreaer. Don't even need a picture. You can visualize it in your head, I know you can.
This thread has nothing to do with how good a weapon is
I don't know theses but I'm going to guess the one on the right is the laser sword thing from Dark Souls that rips off Bleach with the Getsuga Tenshou attack.
Why is cloth on weapons so fucking sexy?
Wrong.
>Manus
bullshit
all these low functioning autism niggers not understanding what iconic actually means.
For the last time EMIYA you are a man not a sword
Are you actually autistic
>in the 21st century
King's Field came out in '94, zoomer.
>still looses in icon status to a blue elf dagger.
Its either Buster Sword or Master Sword, and even that I think isn't know by most normies.
Alaya says otherwise.
The final bout of polling was conducted well after Dark Souls 3 had come out, so you have to consider the type of voters that were still around in /dsg/ at the time. Manus has more mechanical depth and tends to be more favored by players that are deeply enfranchised in the series.
If you'd polled a bunch of new players with little longterm experience, you'd probably see Ornstein and Smough at the top before anyone else, despite Ornstein being an inconsistent buggy piece of shit, for instance.
The DLC bosses overall charted really highly. They even favorably reviewed Laurence, a boss that is famously disliked by a majority of what you might consider the more casual fanbase. Either that says something about Laurence, or it says a lot about the sort of people still posting in the generals during the voting periods.
What's this from?
fanart from some artstation chick
Ludwig fanart.
A generic green sword that's stratospherically more popular than Dark souls itself will ever be
Hey, I was right, only because soulsfags meme the shit out of that thing so I knew a sword I didn't recognize beyond being similar to that artstyle had to be that one.
At least I learned it comes from an earlier work so it isn't an animu ripoff, I guess.
came here to say this
>Micolash at Mid tier
it's not fair bros
Are you unironically trying to act like Dark Souls is unpopular? I know Yea Forums gets off on contrarianism, but seriously.
I propose a game. If you have a general vidya wallpaper folder open it up and find the most commonly reoccurring sword depicted and post it.
Mine is pic related, for non weapon reasons.
The Master Sword is second.
>no love for gimmick bosses
Damn.
When you get past the fun character, the presentation, and the lore, his fight is honestly really shitty. You can understand why players that have stuck around playing the game multiple times would start to rank him less highly.
Just spec it for the base requirement then pump arc to high 40's/50 depending on what retarded meta you're going after.
how are shadows of yharnam low tier?
Yeah I get the reasoning, but I do feel like bosses like Micolash have their place and do a good job diversifying how you approach bosses that deviates from the standard "learn moveset and dodge or parry" mindset that is consistent with a lot of bosses. Not that it's an issue, but some change is nice once in a while.
They don't seem that interesting, and are reasonably easy, at BL4 they can be a roadblock though.
>bleach invented energy wave attacks
There are bosses whose ranks would probably fluctuate massively depending on if you polled new or enfranchised players.
And a side note I find interesting. The series, with the exception of 2, trended towards higher overall boss rankings as time went on. Just look at how stuffed full DaS3's God Tier section was (God Tier being any boss whose aggregate score was over 4.5 out of 5).
Getsuga Tenshou is generic as fuck, user.
its a soulblade, its appearance is based entirely off your memories and emotions.
Pardon me while I whip this out
FROM Software had the moonlight greatsword throwing beams long before fucking Bleach.
funny enough they put a Tessaiga copy into Dark Souls 2 and no one seemed to even notice.
The theme is a moonlight powered attack though, way less generic energy.
>Ornstein being an inconsistent buggy piece of shit
What is inconsistent about him? The only thing that comes to mind is his lunge attack where he can get interrupted for a second and look like he stopped, but if you pay attention he always follows through with the attack eventually. Now Smough, that fucker can do his sweeping charge and go straight over the broken pillars if the positioning is just fucked enough, that shit is unavoidable in most cases.
I love how it looks in the left.
I just realized how similar Dante and Vergil really are to Inuyasha and Seshomuru, I know there is a Red Oni Blue Oni thing in Japanese culture, but they have similiarities that go far beyond that.
It took WAAAAAAY too long for this to be posted
which sword are you referring to?
there is a curved greatsword that literally has a Windscar attack.
Master sword was the 7th post.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. That move is fucking hard to dodge.
>What is inconsistent about him?
It's mostly the charge. Not only can he interrupt it during movement by mistake, he can turn and even attack while still "charging" and then 0-frame go from one of his attacks into his finishing thrust. He'll also sometimes begin his charge, which is meant to close long range, when he's right next to you and become the embodiment of h-hayai memes.
I can't seem to find the relevant picture for it, but DaS2's God Tier is unironically 1 boss (Sir Alonne at 4.53), with the closest runners up being Fume Knight at 4.47 and Darklurker at 4.46. For comparison, the highest ranked boss across the entire series was Ludwig, with a 4.93.
Did Vergil lose an arm in 5 or something? Is that why he took Nero's?
These are the right answers.
>all the VN fags posting their waifubait garbage
For what purpose?
Came here to post this, although is probably more correct post-2010.
yup
Do you have brain problems?
literally who
>a more iconic sword in the 21st century.
>from a game that barely did 3 million
Yeah, plenty kid. Games not that big
You mean Stanless.
It repels people named Stan.
Nero's arm is Yamato.
he took it to get Yamato back.
Why was Nero's arm a separate thing from Yamato in 4?
Dark souls is only popular for being a hard game. 70% of its popularity comes from meming about things being "the dark souls of [insert topic here]"
it was just his demon nature coming out of him at the start of 4.
his arm fused with Yamato when you get the sword, it can seperate from it, but is essentially a part of it otherwise.
Virgil just didn't give a fuck about doing that, so he took the whole fucking arm, it looked groady as fuck anyways.
>Dark souls is only popular for being a hard game.
Does that make it unpopular or not?
get fucked, soulsnigger
ok kid
I never understood the love for pontiff, I dred it every playthrough.
>first play-though
>offline because i'm a pussy
>go online before crystal caves for them """""helpful"""" messages (fuck you guys)
>INSTANTLY get invaded by giantdad with the neet skill of my 3rd world internet he cant backstab me
>get fucking nuked by tempest (as i later learned)
other notable story is how i tried to help coop O&S for lowering the warriors of sunlight requirements, then died to the first silver knight as with the hosts lag i couldn't fucking parry it.
Learn to parry.
I never understood it either but more because he's really not that hard or even all that cool, but I'm not a jojofag so I don't squeal and shit my pants whenever I see le ebic stand user
He just feels good to fight. Very aggressive and long combos but timed to make them easy to dodge. You feel like a slippery motherfucker, especially when you're dodging two of him.
If lightsabers don't count because they're 20th century
>Clang
I can't even name those two, faggot.
It's one sword that has two forms.
I agree with this list, except Midir being that high.
>Oh and did I mention the master sword
thats from the 20th century
He's just a poor boy accidentally on loan from the Monster Hunter franchise.
