Because when you love a property so much that you revisit it over and over, you desire to see someone who loves it as much as you take a crack at retelling the story, with improved graphics, and gameplay. It's been done before, and many examples came out great, most notably on Nintendo hardware (Resident Evil, Samus Returns, etc.).
