why is the ezflash so expensive?
I just want to play roms on my micro

ezflash and other flashcarts really only make sense if you have multiple games you wanna play on official hardware.
there's only two or three games I wanna play and it's still just cheaper for me to buy them individually.
it's a weird feel when piracy is the more expensive alternative.

Any thoughts on individual aliexpress bootlegs?
I'd love to get something like the Everdrive, but I agree with you, can't really justify it.. most of the more expensive games I want to play I already own.

Came to say this and it was already said.

Ogre battle tactics the knights of lodis

KOJIMAAAAAA

Attached: 1536459332184.jpg (342x342, 32K)

Man this game was the shit. A bunch of post game content, a pretty good story. It's sad that I felt like they wanted to make it a trilogy but it didn't happen.

Attached: underratedasfuck.png (240x160, 7K)

I don't trust the chinese with anything electronic

God burgers are actually fucking retarded.

A surprisingly legit Metal Slug clone, believe it or not

Attached: lilo.jpg (342x342, 31K)

This looks somewhat better than the PSX game...

What game is this?
Looks interesting

Not as good as SRW or Advance Wars, but it features a far superior story and localization than the PS2 titles and gets pretty dark for an E-rated game.

Attached: 0464.jpg (500x500, 68K)

>features real movie clips
Is that supposed to be an incentive for GBA?

Attached: 16201_front.jpg (500x500, 52K)

Tak and the Power of Juju

Fuck yeah.

I mean, there were standalone GBA carts with just episodes of cartoons/anime on them. It could handle a low-resolution movie clip.

Oriental Blue

Attached: MothAndMoth-er.png (720x480, 60K)

The full game is only 3.4mb, so yeah it was impressive to be able to fit FMVs in back then. Most games that did suffered in audio quality for regular sound effects though since they had to be compressed further.

Pre-smart phones, yes it was.

Never forget, they put full movies on the GBA.

Megaman battle network 3

Car Battler Joe. Driving battles, weapon customization and unlimited sidequests.

Plot is quite directionless, though.

Mr Driller isn't exactly unknown but I rarely see it talked about. One of the best.

Attached: drilla.jpg (225x225, 15K)

That game reminds me of the arcade game mr driller. I wish my local arcade was open cause I wanna play it now. I thought drill dozer was a spin off at first, but I just learned they arent.

TMNT is a pretty good Ninja Turtle beat 'em up. Difficult, long-ass levels, but the controls and moves are pretty satisfying. Especially on later levels where you get to fight more than two or three enemies at once.

I remember a spongebob game where you unlocked very compressed gifs from early episodes.

Can anyone tell me which one that was?

Rebelstar Tactical Command
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Bomberman Tournament
Sonic Battle
Tactics Ogre The Knight of Lodis

Breath of fire 2

The One Piece game in the same engine is also pretty great.

Shame Mr. Driller A: Strange Bacteria wasn't localized.

Konami Krazy Racers is a great Mario Kart clone.

Attached: B83A557D-8260-4B8D-841F-7F0100449D71.jpg (300x300, 35K)

Play Klonoa Empire of Dreams and Dream Champ Tournament back-to-back.

And then play Klonoa Heroes.

Denki Blocks and Kuru Kuru Kururin are great puzzlers/arcadey games
youtube.com/watch?v=qNRUPwzNiq4
youtube.com/watch?v=VYvUZXT_43k

Advance Guardian Heroes is another rad beat 'em up with combos, spells and parrying. I like playing against the CPU on practice mode every now and then.

>Denki Blocks
Thanks for remembering me of that one. I've yet to beat half of it.

hamtaro hamham heartbreak

The Hajime no Ippo fighting game is a good one. It was made by Treasure, if I recall.

B Daman fire spirits. It's actually freaking great for a children's anime turned video game.

Mr Pants

Some of them can be really tough. 6:35 in that video took me a while.

Astro Boy Omega Factor is preceded by Tiny Toon: Buster's Bad Dream, of all things. It has some great fighting action as well.

Came in to post this.

What a fucking ride of a game.

Guru Logi Champ, a clever Sokoban-like puzzler.

This game is a 10/10 in my book. All those playable characters. Goes through the entire story. An entire mode outside of the normal gameplay for the epic one on one fights. Best Dragon Ball game ever.

There's another game like Dragonball Advance Adventure? What's it called?

Why not Golden Sun?

Attached: IMG_2663.jpg (800x674, 57K)

Came to say this.

I held off on picking that game up for a while and eventually did when I wandered into a Best Buy one day and it was marked down to $10. Holy shit was that $10 well spent. It's such a damn shame it didn't perform better. Had I known it was as good as it actually was, I would have happily picked it up for full price when it first came out.

F-Zero or whatever Warioware games they put on it.

I still have my old boxed copy of Omega Factor, great game.

Attached: DSC_0247.jpg (1920x1080, 1.02M)

Yeah that was nice, why cant we have enjoyable anime games like this anymore?

What part of hidden you didn't understand?

Bokti

I wish the Pawapuro-kun games get fan-translated in a decade or two. Pretty interesting how most games in the series are equal parts Baseball, visual novel and nearly unrelated JRPGs.

Attached: 1811 _ Power Pro Kun Pocket 7 _J__Caravan__1532555624238.png (240x160, 19K)

"Shonen Jump's One Piece". It covers the East Blue part of the manga and is pretty clearly made in the same engine as Dragon Ball. It has a lot more focus on platforming, though, and has a better Act 1, Act 2+Sub Boss, Boss level structure.

Explain it to me then. Are we talking bootlegs that only exist in Thailand? Something that never got released and only you know about? Nobody I know has played Golden Sun; it's obscure enough.

There's this weird-ass pic related manga action game that turns into a parody of several Konami games.

Attached: pyuu_to_fuku__jaguarbyoo_to_deru__megane_kun__japan__1546355687930.png (240x160, 14K)

Golden Sun is on almost every "top x" list of GBA games. Anyone looking through the library will have found Golden Sun within 30 seconds, it's no more obscure than FFTA or Castlevania.

I wish the Captain Tsubasa card game got a translation. Ii seems pretty good, but I can't completely grasp how its systems work.

The Summon Night: Swordcraft Story trilogy.
Translated third game never.

Any decent but lesser known games along the lines of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance/Tactics Ogre/Advance Wars? Looking to scratch that SRPG itch.

Astro Boy Omega Factor
Bomberman Tournament (+the Jetters game is pretty good too, but Japan only, plays identical to Tournament.)

You're a fucking idiot. One of the most revered gba games is a hidden gem because your an anti social chud who doesnt know anyone

Riviera and Yggdra Union.
Also, has Sting finished the so-called Dept. Heaven series yet?

Not on gba I'm afraid.

If you've dove deep into GBA emulation looking for new games to play you probably already know this one but it's probably the best "hidden gem" the GBA has.

Attached: ninja-five-o.jpg (486x495, 99K)

Yggdra Union and Onimusha Tactics.

Same here. My nigga. Astro Boy: Omega Factor was THE SHIT. One of Treasure's finest.

Metalgun Slinger. Anime cowboy action.

The treasure planet game.

The Sims: Bustin’ Out

That's a lie and you know it

I bought the kids next door tv cart if it makes you feel better.

Pic rel.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 208K)

A solid game. Good metroidvania game. Beautiful sprites for a GBA game. Game also sounds decent for a gba game which is surprising since the gba has kinda bad sound quality (compared DKC 2 or FF6 to their snes counterparts). Overall a solid 8/10 game.

Easily the best Spyro game outside of the original trilogy and Reignited.

Endless Frontier

Attached: 1547251340310.jpg (960x880, 493K)

Supersponge probably

I played the DS version which is p much the same game supposedly. Can confirm, hidden gem.

This was pretty good fun but I had to restart twice because I got stuck in the mines of moria.

this a dating sim or something?

Forgot to post image my bad.

Attached: D7148B48-214D-4228-8D45-A10D9277E1D7.jpg (215x215, 14K)

How the hell did you get past that? The bug was literally game breaking

Not exactly hidden, but Shaman King: Master of Spirits is a bretty gud castlevania-esque. Nice graphics, cool cast even if your not familiar with the source, sound effects and music are awesome.
I have massive nostalgia for this one.

Attached: 1524375844990.jpg (620x609, 107K)

Came in here to post this.
Summon Night 1 and 2 are amazing.

It's Namco x Capcom/Project x Zone, but with original characters + KOS-MOS. Like SRW OG.

Play tak and the staff of dreams. It’s a fun platformer

the wii version was such a piece of shit
accidentally deleted my progress because starting a new game immediately overwrites your save and realized I never want to go through it again

Nobody talks about golden sun, they talk about isacc.

DS version is the same game but with more content, true

Oh the other versions of this game are dogshit. Hell I would say the only salvageable games from the Legend trilogy are this and Dawn is the Dragon for PS3.

I would say try this game out if ya get a rom for it or find it cheap. It’s low key actually pretty solid.

Nobody mentioned this yet? Has some of the best music I've heard in a GBA game and the gameplay is pretty cool too.

Monster Rancher 1 and 2 can be a lot of fun.
Prehistorik Man (SNES port) is a good platformer.
Astro Boy has been mentioned.
Believe it or not, the Crash Bandicoot GBA game is god tier.
And... uhh... this game, probably:

Forgot pic

Attached: 61cJ+PPJ16L._SX342_.jpg (342x342, 38K)

the gba sims games were pretty fun and silly

i see no one talk about mario vs donkey kong and i fucking love it

I miss when games had limitations and really had to push the most out of their hardware. Some of them got really creative and achieved stuff that wouldn't have happened otherwise. It was impressive to see isometric versions of 3D console games translate so well, stuff like Tony Hawk.

Attached: oni tac.png (640x427, 459K)

Didn't realize Namco x Capcom had a GBA prequel. Got to look into it later.

Attached: 1762 - Shaman King - Master of Spirits (U)(Venom)-181003-005851.png (1620x1080, 758K)

EzflashIV or Omega which is better?

I've always wanted a modded one like this. I just can't get used to the SP.

never did fully appreciate how good the ost was for this hidden gem

youtube.com/watch?v=np3Gu5Q87e8&list=PLrA_8_hXryyA6PyQz0ajcoiTWjwTqkUSm&index=20

I think it's more of sequel since it takes place after NxC.

Attached: 1546749130531.gif (256x192, 267K)

Never heard of it, going to check it out now. Thanks.

good finds

check its sequel too when you get the chance

Attached: gba_shaman_king_master_of_spirits_2_p_gxgwve.jpg (500x500, 99K)

This game was a buggy piece of crap that would freeze in Moria

How exactly should I go about emulating Boktai? Years ago I tried emulating it on my psp but it was the one game I could never get to work right. Decided to try again on pc now and wondering what way and version to play.

Attached: boktai_conceptart_pE6ga.jpg (600x600, 81K)

Pretty sure visualboy has an option in the menu for light level.

thats a DS game

Great Punch-Out clone. Solid gameplay, nice colorful graphics and art, even has all the opponents based on stereotypes.
Not exactly the same but try Rebelstar: Tactical Command. It's an srpg by the guys who made XCOM.

Attached: 148157-wade-hixton-s-counter-punch-game-boy-advance-front-cover.jpg (800x800, 170K)

Egg Mania, a puzzle game where you have to build a pile of blocks without leaving empty spaces on it until you reach the top of the stage.

I recall finding about it thanks to a Lego clone for Java phones, of all things

Attached: Shining Soul II.gif (720x480, 114K)

Lady Sia.

Hi metaljesus

The Flash beat 'em up had no right to be as good as it was.

Good thread. I thought this game was pretty neat, showed decent 3d graphics for the hardware and what the GBA could do as a portable for the time.

Attached: s-l300.jpg (266x263, 17K)

based and SUNLIGHTpilled

Sigma Star Saga. Interesting RPG and shmup mash up.
Except when random encounters spawn you on a large ship in cramped levels...

Sheep.

>SENDO KA!!

I picked this up because I heard it was good, but I think it's overrated. It looks nice though.

Best part (spoilers, I guess)
youtube.com/watch?v=LQJoOJkYFV0

Its not even a visualboy option, every rom of Boktai has an sunlight mod. Just look it up, I think its like L+ direction pad Left or right. Something like that.

I played this a lot as a kid and it was pretty legit, the music was sweet too

Attached: 1152.jpg (500x500, 48K)

I remember that one, the wind surfing stages were cool as hell

fucking damn my gba micro's speakers aren't working. Headphones are fine, but I don't want to be wearing headphones all the damn time. Any ideas on how to fix it? I'd appreciate it.

Also, recommending the Naruto RPG for anyone who knows moon. Not a bad way to revisit the ninja world. There's a DS port that came over with some extra content, so whatevs.

3rd game with online player trading/auction house when

Golden Sun is pretty damn well known if you're a fan of RPGs, obviously it's not on the tier of like Final Fantasty of FE. But anyone who knows about good RPGs knows of its existence.

>Weeb Diablo
I loved this shit.
Though, the unskipable dialog was really annoying.

Just get a used DS lite off ebay. Or maybe it's time to turn to emulation.

>Klonoa: Empire of Dreams
>Riviera: The Promised Land
>Lunar Legend
>That Pokemon Liquid Crystal romhack

Attached: 1547532244674.jpg (1000x1113, 127K)

Just got Riviera to try after seeing it here. I recommend it, it seems pretty unique.

This is shit but two towers and return of the king on gba were great

What emulator do you recommend for iphones? GBA4IOS stops working after two days.

Metroid Fusion and Minish Cap, but I guess they aren't "hidden" gems.
The Crash Bandicoot games were pretty good, as were the Tony Hawks games.
Kuru kuru kururin is excellent
Star Wars trilogy of the force

>iphones
Eh i don't know, i'd say MyBoy! but i don't know if thats on iOS.

>it seems pretty unique
>limited exploration with arcadey scoring systems
>le quick time events
>leveling system based on using every item and weapon
>dating sim elements, you have to finish battles with your best girl
>each battle has a preview guide so you know which weapons to bring since scoring s ranks is important
>a ton of missable content you have to be careful about
there was nothing quite like it

The Donkey Kong one in which you swung through shit to get to the top was pretty fucking good.
The Yoshi gyroscope one is also pretty interesting and I remember that it was quite groundbreaking.

Yup, just did a little research. Looks like it's either GBA4IOS or bust since the other iOS ones suck dick.

Damn i didn't know iToys had it so rough in the emulation department.

Metroid fusion

fond memories of this one

Attached: file.png (220x220, 123K)

this one was the shit

Attached: 61uzhWRBmYL._SX342_[1].jpg (342x342, 40K)

Gekido Advance
Gunstar Super Heroes

Riviera the Promised Land

Don't bully him. You're lucky I don't bully you.

Anyone ever try Shining Soul 2 here? That a hidden gem?

Golden Sun is neither hidden nor a gem.

Attached: 61oCJGlPjGL._AC_SX215_.jpg (215x214, 17K)

Fuck I had a bootleg cart of this from the Philippines and the saving didn't work, forcing me to basically speedrun the game in one day with my GBA never leaving my charger

Probably not exactly a hidden gem, but I've never seen this game discussed anywhere, not even /shmupg/.

Attached: 1541559281848.jpg (342x341, 32K)

The Klonoa GBA games are better than the mainline titles. I liked the puzzle platformer structure way more.

reread the op

Barely into it. Defeated tokugero/ryo.
Does it get better? Level design is kind of ass.

great thread

also gotta give this a try

It's no Endless Duel, but its pretty based desu

Attached: gba_mobile_suit_gundam_seed_battle_p_epikew.jpg (300x300, 34K)

There was a fucking Jaguar game? Now I'm interested.

Attached: maxresdefault[1].jpg (1280x720, 175K)

Good pick up and play game. Everyone has a unique set of skills for some good cartoon violence.

Attached: 220px-Superdodge.jpg (220x220, 26K)

Box art doesn't match the in game aesthetics.

Attached: 43277-Super_Dodge_Ball_Advance_(U)(Mode7)-4.png (720x480, 25K)

heard the medabots/medarots franchise is really good..
(so is the anime/tv show)..

You've pretty much been going in a straight line at this point, yeah? It's gonna be slow for a little longer as you'll be pushing blocks with big thumb and stuff. It gets better in the ice areas up north and the graveyard to the west (about an hour and a half into the game assuming you're going at a steady pace) is probably a good point to decide whether you like the game or not.

Unique dungeon crawler about blacksmithing.

Attached: Summon_Night-_Swordcraft_Story_-_2006_-_Atlus_Co.,_Ltd..jpg (1440x1437, 252K)

The random battle encounters are side scrolling hack n slash action.

Attached: tumblr_n6kbklApdW1s97aado1_400.gif (400x266, 60K)

Used to play the shit out of these two. And meta bots

Attached: Screenshot_143.png (720x485, 139K)

I remember combat in this game to be very satisfying.

Did they? I only ever remember it being stuff like episodes of pokemon.

Shit, I remember seeing ads and shit for this in Nintendo Power. Always wanted it but never got it for some reason.

drill dozer has been a meme response for a decade now and everyone knows about it. it is the same with umihara kawase. everyone should play them, though

There was a kid-friendly version of SMT with watered down mechanics (but still including demon fusion/negotiation). Don't remember the name but it was pretty neat

DemiKids

There was a Pocky & Rocky GBA game that was pretty fun. The original was a "hidden" SNES gem, top down weeby shooters a little like Shock Troopers.

Attached: pocky.jpg (624x416, 117K)

At that price I wouldn’t say it’s a hidden gem anymore. Still one of the best games on the console though.

Nobody talks about Cima:the Enemy and it’s pretty decent

Attached: CFF57445-D365-4FAB-BD4A-B6F24D8CDB1D.jpg (98x98, 6K)

My guy. That game was nuts. It was so long ago, didn't Daddy Bigbucks or something send us off to a swamp where we could be eaten by crocs?

There were cool creature splicing and pets or something from what I remember.

Attached: 1400 - Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari EX (J)-181201-155013.png (1620x1080, 633K)

Should I buy a GBA? I kinda don't wanna bother emulating shit for it if the games are easy to buy. I also think it would feel nice actually owning the carts and playing them on the actual hardware. The SNES and the GBA are probably the only things from Nintendo that I still like after becoming a Playstationfag.

A lot of games are starting to climb in price, and you're often buying bootleg carts anyway. Either get a backlit SP and a flashcart, one of those portable multiconsole emulators or stick to PC.

And the only way out is a fight with the devil Charlie Daniels style.

This is kojima's best work as producer
just enough input to make it kino but not too much to overcomplicate everything.
So fucking glad 3 got a translation
youtube.com/watch?v=7OlhJ6mo4lI

Attached: boktai.jpg (500x500, 137K)

some crazy nigger put the entire shrek 1 on gba
I bought it and watched it multiple times

I used to own a red SP and I loved the clamshell design. What about the original GBA model? Does it have a backlight like the SP or no?

It baffles me that GBA games can be considered hidden gems when every fucker and their dog emulated the entire library in high school or university.

My only gripe about that game is when you become captain of your own station they set up cutscene about how your in charge of which ships get deployed now, but you never actually control which ships get deployed. Would have shaken up the gameplay enough to make the endgame combat worth playing.

...On the flipside by this point in the game you get an item that can be exploited to bypass random encounters entirely, so it doesn't really matter.

Attached: IMG_0009.jpg (1500x553, 1.02M)

No backlight but people can mod one in.

Original GBA with AGS-101 screen mod + Everdrive X5 flash cart is peak GBA kino. I used to own the EZ Flash Omega but it sucked ass; games would crash, it was a battery hog, and I would have to wait 5-10 seconds after saving so it wouldn't corrupt my saves and sometimes it still did anyway.

Attached: 20190308_031428.jpg (4032x2268, 2.38M)

Exceed translation when? ;_;

So the everdrive is the way to go? I'm looking at getting a similar setup.

Either an overclocked vita or any 3ds kills that whole autistic setup, the latter especially since it's not even emulation.

Yes. Some people claim to never have crashing issues with EZ Flash Omega, but it sucked for me.

I got my GBA from ebay, btw.

ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-Game-Boy-Advance-GBA-AGS-101-Brighter-Mod-Backlit-Pick-Shell-Buttons/202119216488?hash=item2f0f3e7d68:m:mTvzXitHfynIhSn-elpvxRA

>Original GBA
The form factor is great, but using AA batteries really turns me off. If only there's a version with rechargeable li-ion battery.

Just get a psp and emulste on there.

Damn, that shit looks nice and bright. I'm going to assume that there is no charging cable for this bad boy? I remember the SP having one. I don't wanna deal with batteries like with the Gameboy Color.

I want to get a psp/vita as well as a gba

Okay, so just play your gba games on psp.

Gradius Galaxies is excellent.

Attached: Gradius_Galaxies_GBA.jpg (250x252, 42K)

>Either an overclocked vita
No, it's fucking garbage. Resolution of GBA games on literally anything other than a GBA screen or maybe DS Lite is dumpster fire.
>3ds
Fucking disgusting vomit.

Attached: pic.jpg (4032x2268, 2.07M)

get a 3ds and vita, the 3ds has gba hardware built in

They put Shrek 1&2 and Shark Tale on GBA cartridges

Everdrive X5 lasts a pretty great amount of time with rechargeable Eneloop batteries, not bad at all. Even then, you can also get a battery mod for original GBA if you really want to charge it.
No, but you can fork out $40 for a battery mod.

retromodding.com/products/gameboy-advance-rechargeable-battery-pack

Attached: 20190308_032055.jpg (4032x2268, 2.12M)

the vita has more than enough verticle pixels to display the gba at native res, it'll be about as big as a gameboy micro screen.
You can't even complain about the black bars since it's oled and the pixels literally turn off

Attached: image6.jpg (4032x3024, 1.74M)

holy shit, are you literally me? I've used this exact same game with the exact same location on my GBA with AGS-101 screen mod + everdrive x5 to show people on Yea Forums the absolute perfection of this setup for months now. Great minds think alike user, you're a man of extreme taste.

Attached: ags101.jpg (2016x1512, 496K)

I feel like the only person who prefers the SP physically. Something about tbe original doesn't feel as comfortable to me. I think ot's because I had an SP as a kid so having the buttons spread out is weird.

It's still shitty and tiny. The ergonomics of the GBA are fantastic, the mod backlight is just right, and using rechargable batteries lets me switch on the fly. Plus, Everdrive X5 emulation is perfection to a T. Zero problems with that thing. It's the way it was meant to be played. I have every possible conceivable way of playing GBA. My set up is pure kino. The GBA is my favorite system and with some of my favorite games.

Attached: 20190308_033536.jpg (4032x2268, 2.49M)

SP is an absolute pain in the ass to use if you have large hands. Original GBA has the best ergonomics for people who want to feel like they're using a beefy controller.

You should open up your case and fiddle with your AGS-101 brightness, you can get colors to pop a lot more so it doesn't look as faded out with whiteness as it does in your photos

Attached: fusion.png (2016x1512, 2.64M)

We posting gbas?

Got a AGS-101 a few years ago, the difference is mind blowing as someone who had a AGS-001 all his life.

Attached: 20180907_145320_HDR.jpg (4160x2080, 2.56M)

Yggdra Union was the shit. Barely anyone I know or talk to has heard of it.

Attached: 1524276926945.png (500x320, 487K)

my dude, this game is great

kek, fucking based. I have been loving this thing for weeks now. SO far I have beaten Aria of Sorrow, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, and Minish Cap. Can't decide what next to play.
>You should open up your case and fiddle with your AGS-101 brightness, you can get colors to pop a lot more so it doesn't look as faded out with whiteness as it does in your photos
It might just be my shitty camera and lighting. It looks gorgeous irl. I might try this though anyway, thanks.

I beat this game like 20 times

I still hold to this day that the GBA had one of THE best, if not the best handheld lineups of all time. Seriously classic console, imo it marked the absolute peak of portable console fun. Later Nintendo handhelds still had great classic games but the number of classics seems to have severely diminished while the overall amount of shovelware titles has increased. I still use my GBA at least once or twice a week, whether it's replaying old games or going through a backlog of gems that I never had the chance to play when they originally came out. The original GBA + AGS101 screen mod + X5 flash cart for loading ROMs is by far the best way to enjoy it, as mentioned earlier in this thread. You get the great ergonomics that the first iteration of the GBA had with the crisp, backlist screen of the SP for enjoying beautiful spritework. Just off the top of my head, some great games that should absolutely not be missed out on:
>Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
>Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance
>Castlevania Circle of the Moon
>Warioland 4
>Metroid Fusion
>Metroid Zero Mission
>Gunstar Super Heroes
>Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland / Amazing Mirror
>WarioWare Inc. games
>Advance Wars
>Drill Dozer
>Boktai
>Ninja Five-O
>Final Fantasy Tactis
>Final Fantasy Advance
>Tactics Ogre
>Fire Emblem
>Golden Sun
>Iridion 3D / Iridion II
>Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga
>Mario Tennis
>Yoshi's Island
>Super Mario World games
>Legend of Zelda GBA games
>Metal Slug
>Harvest Moon FoMT
>DooM and DooM II (it still blows my mind that not only were these two games ported, they're solid as fuck ports that run and play great on the GBA, and DooM II even had GBA multiplayer deathmatch support for up to 4 players)
>Classic NES Series line of ports
>Mother 3 (patch the nip ROM with the English translation)

Goddamn, you guys with your custom shit got me jealous. I know you can buy that sort of thing but I'm not exactly stuffed with disposable income at the moment. It sure as hell doesn't help that my SP battery is dead so I can't even have a nice legit GBA experience without the shitty original's screen. I still got my Lite but it's not quite the same, even if it does combine the comfy length of the GBA with an SP backlight.

That's crazy, I've played the first doom on GBA but didn't know 2 supported deathmatch. Was the framerate okay in multiplayer?

The GBA was basically the Super Nintendo of Gameboys, also nice list of games for me to play in the future.

Which of those multisystem handhelds are best for GBA/SNES emulation? Any of them worth looking into? Ideally I'd want decent Genesis emulation too but that's less important.

>It might just be my shitty camera and lighting. It looks gorgeous irl.
That very well could be, if you're satisfied then no reason to take it apart again I reckon.
>I have been loving this thing for weeks now. SO far I have beaten Aria of Sorrow, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, and Minish Cap. Can't decide what next to play.
Damn, we've got some pretty similar tastes in games then. If you liked Aria of Sorrow, you should take a gander at Harmony of Dissonance and (possibly) Circle of the Moon. Harmony of Dissonance is a great game that feels a lot more like a portable version of SotN than AoS did, the music is a bit shit but everything else holds up finely. IMO the metroidvania exploration aspect was the strongest in HoD out of all three GBA titles, the A+B castle system that HoD used felt a lot like SotN's inverted castle, something that was missing in AoS and left a gaping hole that was not filled in regards to my need to autistically explore shit. The A+B system (like the inverted castle) is more or less the same exact castle as before but with new enemies, spritework, bosses, music, items, and routing. Circle of the Moon is weaker than AoS and HoD due to dubious control schemes, but if you liked the other two you'll probably enjoy it to some extent too. What'd you think of Fusion? imo it's a great fucking game, probably my favorite 2D Metroid title. Out of this world spritework and music, tight gameplay, that game is just a gem through and through.

Psp emulates both gba and genesis perfect in my years of experience with mine, plus it plays ps1 natively.

eh

What is this?

I love that artstyle

PSP is shaky for SNES though. Sleep mode often doesn't work, and all the system stuff is turned off so you have to fully shutdown the system to exit the emulator and if you hit low battery it'll just cut out on you without warning. It's what I currently use but I'm sure there are much better options now.

>Fuck I had a bootleg cart of this from the Philippines and the saving didn't work
I feel this shit user. My parents scraped together enough to buy me the original GBA when it first came out, but then from that point on would only buy me chink GBA carts where the saving didn't work on any of them. As a result I had a large collection of the most "classic" GBA titles, but was only allowed to play for 30 minutes a day (one hour on the weekends) so I just replayed the openings to those games over and over and over again for years. The only time I'd progress past that was when I got to play it on roadtrips for a few hours.

Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town

this and AX were both good and underrated

>I know you can buy that sort of thing but I'm not exactly stuffed with disposable income at the moment.
Most people don't buy them prebuilt, they do it themselves in which case it's relatively cheap. If you can snag up a working GBA (or a GBA with a broken screen) then the SP screen doesn't cost that much more and it's relatively easy to mod it from there.
Ran at about the same framerate that the base game did. iirc the framerate in DooM II was a bit better than it was on DooM for the GBA, I think it was done by two different companies, the second port felt a lot more polished. Amazing that they managed to fit the games on carts and make them run in the first place, multiplayer even more so.

Also DB AA, DBZ Supersonic Warriors, Astro boy, Megaman Zero saga and KH CoM. That last one just has amazing 2d sprite artwork and they managed to pull some 3d cutscenes that are mindblowing

Also, SF2 and Alpha GBA versions are pretty good.

Ecco the Dolphin port

Nice, I will be playing HoD and CoTM pretty soon then.
>What'd you think of Fusion?
It was fucking great. Solid. I would say I loved Zero Mission a bit more because the exploration/freedom was more open, the physics was some of the tightest, and the music was classic, but the bosses in Fusion and the general difficulty were a lot better. Plus the SA-X stalking was fantastic. Although I also really enjoyed the ending sequence of Zero mission after regaining the suit. Both games were amazing.

Is that shit on the right blurry as fuck or is it just the angle/brightness? GBA looks better and sharper.

I never had it myself, but a friend of mine had a battery pack back in the day that was just the shape of all the batteries combined, even had a dock and everything

It looks like the pic on the right is using an emulator that adds upscaling filters. It removes edges and pixellation, but has the drawback of appearing a bit blurry and smudged. Never understood why people used it, imo the "sharpness" present in GBA spritework is part of the charm, shit looks so clean and crisp. No idea why people decide to shit all over the original art style by smudging the hell out of it.

>Supersonic warriors

No game nails dbz fighting like this.

This was awesome

>Nice, I will be playing HoD and CoTM pretty soon then.
You definitely won't regret it. Just a fair warning- CotM starts out slower than the other games, the movement in the first 30-40 minutes of it can get a little bit frustrating before you start getting movement upgrades, it's more akin to a classicvania in terms of movement and combat than anything, although the game itself is still a metroidvania. It picks up quite a bit further in and becomes a lot more enjoyable, don't let the beginning put you off. HoD on the other hand stays strong just about the whole way through.
> I would say I loved Zero Mission a bit more because the exploration/freedom was more open, the physics was some of the tightest, and the music was classic
That's very true, especially the physics aspect. Fusion just holds a very special place in my heart due to the spritework / art design / atmosphere, I consider it the absolute best in the series for that reason. They absolutely nailed the space station vibe, it's a game that's every bit as gorgeous to look at as it is to play.
>Plus the SA-X stalking was fantastic
SA-X was pants-shitting every time it showed up, absolutely loved the frantic nature of those segments. Though I do wish they did more with it, either by including it in more areas or buffing up its AI to stalk you for more of the game ala Mr. X. Have you seen the Fusion mod someone is working on for Super Metroid? There's a guy porting the whole game to the SM engine, and part of the work he's doing is fleshing out the SA-X concept. He vastly improved the AI, he gave it some more tools to work with (like an x-ray vision beam that it can use every now and then to see through walls and catch you if you're trying to hide from it while it's patrolling) as well as segments where you actually face / try to get away from multiple SA-X's instead of just one.

theres the usual shit in this thread like "ayo astro boy, boktai, ninja five-o, riviera really be hidden gems yo" but also some genuinely good and hidden games rather than just cult classics.
good job Yea Forums.
anyways, hello kitty happy party pals is good if you want some really cute and easy fun. my younger sister had it and loved it, so i tried it out one day and actually had a blast. id recommend it to anyone with nothing better to play looking for some cheap good feels and mild entertainment.

dk king of swing

I've watched some of it and yeah it seems like the movement starts out stiff like older games, which is fine I guess I still enjoy Classicvania, it does look like the movement gets a lot more fun later on.

I have not heard of it, but it sounds fun as fuck. I'm keeping my eyes on this now and see how it turns out.

Probably the only isometric dungeon crawler for the GBA.

Shining Soul 2

Pick from a range of classic rpg characters, real time action game, pretty fun.

Damn, I just recently replayed through both Dark Alliance games in co-op with my roommate on the PS2, we went on a weekend binge where we sat down and just blasted our way through the campaign. Absolutely love the PS2 versions no matter what anyone says, I always see people trying to shit on them because "they're not Baldur's Gate" games but I don't get the hate, they're still very solid games through and through. Is the GBA one worth giving a shot?

>Can't bang all the girls in a single playthrough

Shit game

fockin ell mate good shit. I have most of the games listed in here and can attest for them being choice.

I have an EZ flash IV??? Anything stand out about the everdrive X5? Really fast loading and saving or tell me this thread is really my jam.

>I've watched some of it and yeah it seems like the movement starts out stiff like older games, which is fine I guess I still enjoy Classicvania, it does look like the movement gets a lot more fun later on.
Oh yeah, if you have no problem with older classicvania titles you'll have no problem with this one. I just know that a lot of friends I've recommended the game to who love metroidvanias but aren't a fan of the previous entries ended up getting hung up on this fact so I thought I'd put it out there just in case. If you're a fan of classicvanias, don't forget that there's a straight port of Castlevania 1 onto the GBA, and as the GBA retains native hardware support for GB/GBC color games, there's a few non-port original classicvanias for the GB/GBC that are supposed to be decent, might be worth checking out once you've absolutely exhausted everything else. They're currently on my backlog, need to get around to them eventually.

I don't know anything about the EZ Flash IV, but I can attest to the fact that the Everdrive X5 is some really good shit. Boots up quickly, there's no real waiting period when you select a ROM (it boots to the ROM almost immediately, there's MAYBE half a second waiting time before you're on the splash screen.) Saves the game really fast too, there's a red light on the X5 that lights up when the game is actually saving to the cart, and it blinks so fast that you hardly notice it. Unlike other flash carts you can turn off the GBA as soon as the red light goes out without worrying about corruption. X5 battery consumption is really good, I get around 8 hours out of my batteries before having to change them.

Anyone have experience with the GPD Win 1/2? Looks like a decent emulation machine, and can handle fighting games/paradox grand strategy/visual novels too which is an added bonus

there was a B-Daman game?

There were two

R6: Rogue Spear

>ezflash and other flashcarts really only make sense if you have multiple games you wanna play on official hardware.
This. I had a craving to replay the castlevania titles and trying to find them all alone would've quickly racked up 200-300$ worth. Buying an Everdrive X5 for 100$ was a no-brainer at that point, and I've played through maybe 15~ games on it by now.

are any of the snes ports better than the originals?
why did the gba have so many ports of snes games anyways?

Yes, some had better translations (final fantasy 4 for example). The audio is slightly worse but overall is a better experience. You can patch the uncompressed audio back in if you're on an emulator too.

Portable SNES was probably a big moneymaker back in the day, and I can definitely see why. I was ecstatic to be able to play some of my favorite classics like DKC, SMW, and Yoshi's Island on GBA. I didn't even 102% DKC2 until the GBA version.

Seconded.

That's some good shit. I appreciate all the suggestions.
Just overall better hardware and software. Build quality is solid. Emulation and compatibility are fantastic. Way better than PSP and Vita shit. Boots up fast. Loads fast. Low power consumption, batteries last a good while. Games don't crash. You can turn it off right after saving without worrying of corrupted saves. Pretty solid RTC support. You can change the RTC battery easily, no soldering required at all. EZ Flash uses up like 3 times as much power consumption.

The only drawback of the Everdrive is the cost and it sticks out of the GBA. After having an EZ Flash Omega for months and having issues, it was easily worth it.

seconding this
there are different upgradable weapons and stuff

neat, mgba's the best emu right? been I while since I've emulated gba games
I see, didnt nintendo rely more on the gba instead of the gamecube to compete against the ps2?

omega has quicksaves i think
but i own a IV which plays all games just fine

This

the first bionicle game on gba, it was simply called LEGO Bionicle

Attached: 220px-Lego_bionicle_gbc_cover.png (220x220, 101K)

Definitely worth a playthrough if you're into those games.

>why did the gba have so many ports of snes games anyways?
Probably was not only a great way to print some money (everyone loves SNES games, a lot of the classics have held up incredibly well) but also a way to show off the power of their new handheld. Around that time, a portable handheld the size of the GBA running SNES games very smoothly was pretty impressive. GBA had really impressive hardware for the time it was released.

They're actually pretty cheap if you get the EU castlevania double pack. it gets you dissonance and sorrow for around £20, and CotM is the cheap one

Thanks user, I'll have to grab a ROM for it. Sounds like it'd be fun for playing out and about when I have downtime.

>EU castlevania double pack
iirc most of them (especially the cheap ones) are knockoff reproduction carts. There's a fuckton of them floating around, especially for the castlevania games. I've always tried to avoid reproduction carts (or the possibility of buying a reproduction cart) because a lot of them have troubles with longevity / saving.

My man, this was a great game

I sold a legit copy for about £35 online and that was more than I should've been able to get for it. I checked the PCB and provided pics. It's only the individual copies that are collectors items.

Eh, i played it recently and it was alright. The crafting aspect was too simple, and the combat got tedious really fast.

what is this emulator??

I'm really biting my lip at buying one of those custom GBAs might have to gift myself one after I finish this contract in May.

I was looking at the Everdrive that size is no different than the Solar Sensor on Boktai 1 and 2 so no real skin off my nose. I might have to measure my EZflash 4 from boot to game to see what the actual length is.

Would you mind recording a webm from boot to Mother3 or any game really? I say Mother3 since that's what's in my Gameboy player at the moment and one of the few games I have been making time for with my workload.

shit bro that custom gba one though. I have such a huge catalog of gba games I could play natively it would be the cherriest of setups easily.

I wouldn't mind finally finishing BOF2 save data I never cleared either.

Attached: 1465724099377.jpg (786x960, 733K)

One second, taking a video now, I'll upload as a webm.
>I'm really biting my lip at buying one of those custom GBAs might have to gift myself one after I finish this contract in May.
Just find a cheap GBA on ebay, buy the screen and do the mod yourself. It's easy and takes no longer than 20-30 minutes.

I've got an Omega coming soon, hope it's worth it. Pairing it with a GBM for the most portable solution possible, plan is that I'll have it to whip out at uni or whenever. Way more portable than my Vita or Switch or even my GBA/SP.

>the goal-based gameplay nowhere to be found in modern games
>the worldbuilding via item flavor text
>the soundtrack at the simvalley docks
i hold pic related and urbz near and dear to my heart.

Damn nevermind file size is too big recording on my phone. It's about 1.5 seconds going from selecting the game to being on the GBA splash screen.

>the Nintendo logo doesn't show up on my GBA when I start it up and the game doesn't load
What's wrong bros?

nice

ur gba is ded

Most likely a fake, fake GBA games ran rampant back in the day.

Anyone have any decent reproduction carts/fan translations? I just have these.

Attached: 121.jpg (1122x632, 90K)

My copy of Pokemon Sapphire definitely isn't fake. Maybe the battery is dead?

If you're not getting the Nintendo logo it means the cart isn't being read properly. Likely dirty contacts. You get a separate warning upon launch if the battery's dry.

Scurge

Been looking to get a Pokemon TCG 2 Fan translation in a cart to play on my Gameboy Player, too bad the maker is in US and mailing in europe rapes my ass

Earthworm Jim

>not TAIYOpilled
one job

My nigga

The majority of games load pretty quickly. Mother 3 takes a couple seconds longer though.

youtube.com/watch?v=_9K3I7nATrY

About 16:20 he loads up Mother 3.

The real reason you'd want the EverDrive is for the better build quality, stability (fast save writing and no crashes), compatibility, low per consumption, and RTC support. Although EZ Flash Omega also has RTC now.
