Xehanort was on the classic rewrite the world but this time correct shit, though his reasoning probably makes more sense then most when boiled down. Even when Light is plentiful, weak people fall into darkness and upset the balance, causing a age of chaos. Young Xehanort is still toying around with the concept, literally and figuratively. Buzz was deliberately led down into a path of darkness and was going to fuck shit up, but then Woody roasted Young Xehanort so hard that shit was carved into his soul.

The magic shit was bullshit, but storyline wise they kept hammering it home that Sora was nerfed so there is no reason not to believe it. From the ending of KH2 when they are playing building tennis, I can kinda see it.

It's a weird mix of the big bang/heat death of the universe theories, while simultaneously being the source and progenitor of all souls.

Kingdom Hearts produced souls which eventually developed into of light, but overtime their light was eventually corrupted into darkness. And darkness is drawn to light; it essentially exists to consume & extinguish it. Hence, it would reach a point where the darkness would inevitably consume everything, bringing it all back to point blank. It's the natural universal cycle of rinse & repeat.

Riku is his dream eater + plus lowkey gay for Sora so yeah, it makes sense why he'd end up dying with his soul being transported to the same death/dream realm as Sora's.

Even in kh3 he never wanted to destroy darkness, his goal was always to maintain a balance between darkness and light. He just realized that an overabundance of darkness made this nonviable, so the only way was to achieve a balance was to reset everything. The english translation makes this a little less clear. When Xehanort says Kingdom Hearts can give them "An empty world, pure and bright" the Japanese word for "pure and bright" being used is "mashiro", which means pure white, nothingness, like a blank sheet of paper. Xehanort doesn't want a world of pure light, he wants a blank slate so that he can forcibly maintain the balance.

If you watched x Back Cover on II.8, you notice that the MoM's mannerisms, way of speaking, and attitude align with Demyx and Xigbar more than any other character. But now it's revealed that Xigbar is Luxu, leaving only Demyx as most likely to be the MoM.

I think that the problem is she was being built up like she would do something in the same vein as Sora/Riku. I don't actually really dislike DDD that much, first playing it recently. At least it's more fun than BBS because movement is so much quicker and more fluid. Flowmotion is OP in that game but it's fun to play around with. The Spirits are cute. Since I didn't play the 3DS version, I'm fine with the Drop system as it only happens like every half hour or more anyway. Don't really see why it's so reviled, yes it's obviously worse than KH1, 2, CoM (either form) and maybe even re:Coded, but I'd definitely put it above Days and BBS.

Maybe it's because I actually played 3 before DDD, but I didn't mind it. The worlds are huge and full of nothing, but in a way it makes treasure chests more of a puzzle than before. In most of the previous games, chests are just there waiting for you to open them, but in DDD and 3, finding them adds a new challenge. I don't really have a ton positive or negative to say about the worlds, they're mostly kind of empty, but I didn't hate them and I like searching for chests if they're not braindead easy to find.

The only thing I can really object to about them so far (just finished the game a couple days ago) is having to change the disposition. Throwing candy at them seems to change the disposition sometimes though anyway. Disposition changes shouldn't have been required to finish Spirits. Aside from Big Hero 6, Toy Story and Monsters Inc. were the only other worlds that weren't a direct, half-assed retelling of their movies' plots through and through.
In fact, Pixar was so chill Square Enix that they even OK'd the events that took place in the Toy Story World and made them canon in the official Toy Story universe.

So yes, Kingdom Hearts and everything about it actually fucking exists in the Toy Story universe, and the events from KH3 canonically take place between Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3. And it's why the Toy Story world had a sub-plot revolving around the question how and why some toys gain hearts and come alive while others don't, which will also be the main theme for Toy Story 4's plot.

In other words Pixar's pretty fucking based and chill, it's Disney's animation departments that have their heads up their ass.

The positive spin on his death/ascending to KH/nirvana was to underscore that Eraqus still loves his friend, despite his actions. It was a neat reflection on the nature of friendship among close childhood friends. It's the fact that the rest of the world would never forgive his acts, and yet Eraqus never stopped caring for him, that really illuminates the theme. He wasn't absolved because the no one will forgive him, and his friend never had to forgive him to begin with.

The reward for his actions was the neutral re-assimilation back into the collective consciousness (KH/nirvana). In his last few moments of individualism he shares a moment with his closest friend who refused to abandon the boy he once knew. Attempting to frame this as either "good" or "bad" ending overlooks the very interesting relationship being shown.

Sora faded away because he overused the power of waking. You don't have to show Sora saving Kairi. HOW it happens is not important. What's important is THAT it happened. The climax just fucking happened, why would they spend another twenty minutes of cutscenes to show Sora saving her? It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. I'm guessing you've never watched a movie or a TV show before. Wait, they didn't show that character drive here, so how did he get here? Plot hole!
This is exactly the same thing as when they have a little credits scene at the end of the Marvel movies. This story is over, but here's a little hint at what's to come. Sora fades away, what does it mean and how will everyone react, and what will they do next? It's a hook to get you intrigued to see what will happen next. It's not a plot hole just because they haven't explained it in great detail yet.

It would've been more appropriate to have a sadder scene where Eraqus recognizes that he still cares about Xehanort, but acknowledges that he's corrupted himself and chosen an evil path and makes peace with his friend meeting his end because of it. Xehanort could've explained himself a bit and still died by the sword and faded away. Like I get that those who fight for the light are supposed to be kind and forgiving but at a certain point you gotta be able to say "yep, you deserve this. Sorry bud."

This isn't that type of story, user. There are plenty of stories that emphasize the dirty and pessimistic side to human relationships. KH does the exact opposite and tells stories that focus on/accentuate the positive and fulfilling side to relationships. It's part of what makes it distinct: the series has always had an undercurrent of hope despite the oftentimes despair-filled scenarios (see: Terra's ending in BBS). It thematically wouldn't make sense to abandon that at the end to satisfy the base and simple instinct for revenge.
