Kinda. It's not just "highest initiative strikes first", your medabots have to run to the center of the battlefield to attack, so depending on which leg part you equip they get more or fewer action. They also get slowed down if their legs get damaged.

I don't know anything about Medabots aside from it having fuckable robots. Which game should I start with?
I didn't like Custom Robo on the GC because of how linear it was and how you just unlock parts through story progression which severely limited the customisation part of it.

It's standard for any game that has non-humanoid characters or unusual proportions for character designs.
Artists don't like straying out of their comfort zone, so they default to drawing only the humanoid characters and only with standard proportions. It especially makes sense with medabots because most artists have no experience drawing robotic characters, especially if you want them to look sexy at the same time too.

"Medabots AX" is action, "Medabots" is a JRPG with an unconventional battle system. Both come in two versions like Pokemon, just pick the one with the robot you think looks cooler.

No, Spirits wasn't emulating any game's plot. It was its own thing. The only thing they took from the games are the designs from 3 and Nae.

It's an unfortunate consequence of the anime being released in the west first rather than the games. Since it was based off Medarot 2 they could only bring a remake of 2, a reskin of G with the 2's characters and a game that was technically an anime licensed game.
