The problem is most core pc gamers already know what kind of games they like and just spend thousands of hours in those plus most have a massive library of games that they just hadn't touched yet.
If there is a game we want, we probably bought it at release. If there is a game we didn't know we liked because we hadn't tried it yet, there's probably another we already own with the same story.

I guess they're trying to pull in a younger market with this kind of shit, but their service genuinely isn't as good and if a kid has a decent pc they likely have money to buy other games anyways.
