The question is...how do we build a wall around a bunch of islands?

The Al Bhed have airships now, but by then Wakka doesn't have any issue with them and named his wife's son in Al Bhed

The dress sphere/garment grid system was genuinely great and it's a damn shame it hasn't been used since X-2.

me too man. More mechanics on the job system, with characters changing on the fly as needed, AND you get a Sailor Moon transform sequence.
Nowadays it's just an edgy boyzone ripoff

Lightning Returns had something kinda like it. All your skills are tied to garbs you switch in battle. Same fruitycake director, too.

>More mechanics on the job system, with characters changing on the fly as needed
But at the same time putting a limit on the jobs each character has access to during battle, meaning you still need to put some thought into party setup. It was great.

I feel like dancing

it's odd that they didn't give Light a Paine garb when she has such a similar battle stance

You now remember the Besaid theme. Have fun with that.

>tfw no X-2-like game set in a Dissidia-esque merged world with Eiko, Relm, and Krile as the party.

is it worth capturing monsters and leveling them up

No I don't. FFX had pretty forgettable music.

Get one of those Gatling snakes, remove every skill except for full-auto. It chews through enemies.

You don't have to but the benefits to it makes it pretty damn worth it and even then, you don't have to catch every monster to reap all the awards. Also monsters are overpowered as fuck.

YUNA! AEON!

Yeah, there's some pretty good shit in there.

For example, you can catch a Flame Dragon with a large pod in Besaid right at the start of the game, as soon as you gain access to the capture mechanic.
Once you raise it a certain amount of levels (5 I think?), you can release it. Normally this complete it's Fiend Tales story, but with certain monsters like the Flame Dragon it turns them into a Dark Aeon.
Flame Dragon turns into Ifrit, who you can then battle. Have one party member flee from the battle so you can't get a game over, then have the other two steal from it until you get a ring that absorbs fire damage. Continue to steal until everyone has one and bam, everyone's immune to fire attacks from the start of the game.

Also some of the Fiend Tales are pretty good anyway.

Who do you think you are?

What is it with beast races always getting the short end of the stick in Final Fantasy?

You don't get game overs in X-2's monster arena thingy, which makes the place great for grinding and farming exp, AP, and items.

so did ff7, 8 & 9

My bad, haven't played it since the translation patch for the PS2 version released a few years ago. Things are a little hazy.

We're gonna build a wall, and the Youth League is gonna pay for it!

X-2's one of the best jrpg's of all time
