It's not splitting hairs. Let's say you're a fan of real time strategy games. Then X-Com comes along and says it was inspired by real time strategy games, but it's still a turn based tactical game. Then indies start making games like X-Com but they and journos refer to them as real time strategy games despite still being turn based tactics games. Suddenly you can't find any real time strategy games anymore because every retard out there has drowned them out with tons of turn based tactics games
