It'll probably be League or Fortnite for how much they changed the landscape, unfortunately.

If we're talking most influential games, I'd say Skyrim, Dark Souls, and Minecraft.

Dark Souls was released in 2009, idiot.

TW3 and BoTW as a close second.

That's actually a tough one but probably Don Mattrick and the Xbone announcement/launch. Nothing else really comes close to almost putting a hardware manufacturer out of the industry.

gaming has become so boring now, i've shifted my interest to cars.

Looking at these suggestion this has been a good decade for games. Better than the 2000s

Better than the late 2000s, maybe.

I still love vidya, but now I prefer planes

Mystery Druids

Dark souls.
Bloodbornefags can go kill themselves, the breakout of genre happened with Dark souls.

this, the 2010s were just a conntinuation of the 2000s, gaming is too big now and every devs plays it safe. I thought VR would take off for a fresh breath of air, but that takes too long

Hotline Miami

Objectively Witcher 3.

Everyone will vote The Last of Us for GOTD and we all fucking know it so there's no point hoping something good gets recognized. Video games are "art" now.

Bloodstained

>not getting into guns
It's like you don't want to be stupidly obnoxious about realism in movies and vidya

PUBG. League is also strong contender but not sure if it was 2009 or 2010. Both games had massive impact on the industry.

those are awesome, social hobbies and I wish you both good health

You do realize that Demon's Souls exists, right?

>Combat and general gameplay is a 6/10 at best
>Limited capacity for roleplaying due to the nature of the protagonist, fully voiced dialogue and the fixed nature of the story
Play a real RPG.

Skyward Sword or Breath of the Wild

yeah we have to thank dark souls, but bloodborne is more polished and little bit better game all around, exept some cool world/map design of the dark souls, but bloodborne opens up after after 2 or 3 bosses more than dark souls.

The Last of Us will win all the awards and you are gonna like it.

Bloodborne makes me sit through multiple loading screens just to level up. It makes me warp back to the hub so that I can warp to another area. Dark Souls let me do everything at a bonfire with minimal loading.

That would be my vote.

Attached: Culture.png (680x378, 389K)

Demon's Souls was relatively niche. No one gave a shit until Dark Souls.

New Vegas, Dark Souls is a shitty meme game

Next time just say "I have no argument," save us all some trouble

its indie game of the decade, LISA the painful comes second, fuck undertale.

the formulas for all the major games of this decade were already established last decade. there wasn't really anything new or fresh

Nobody cares that you're butthurt, it's not a 'best RPG of the decade' thread. And TW3 wins.

This is the most fun I had playing vidya in the last decade, so I'd agree.

Quoth the coper. Rent free!

BotW, it changed how we think about games

>No one gave a shit until Dark Souls.
t. PÇucks
The only reason Dark Souls exists is because Demon's Souls was popular. A lot of people played Demon's Souls and think it's the best in the series. Just because you were too poor and underage to buy a PS3 doesn't mean the game wasn't popular.

nintendo holding the industry back with gimmicks and rehashes is a bad thing

The single best rpg of the decade and among one of the greatest ever made, it deserves to be the GOTD

Attached: 274DA3F6-AE10-4E08-B451-E303A78F864C.jpg (550x468, 77K)

Skyrim is better than HZD or BotW

rdr2 is a huge leap in graphics.

dunno about GOTD tho

maybe terraria

What was so horrible about it that it's a blunder of the decade

We started the slow but sure transition to VR

wasn't there battle royal mods for arma 2 in 2009? anyway I wouldn't want to give GOTD to one of those games
>procedural generation
that was new in the early 90s my dude

People seem to conflate GotD with Best Game. What the industry is awarding is revolution in design or flawlessness in execution. Halflife 2 didnt win a GotD title by being the best shooter, it won by combining impressive physics (at the time), narrative game design and presentation, flexible tools, and an AI companion that didnt suck massive dick.

Dark Souls, gtav, pubg, Skyrim, and probably Witcher 3 are strong contenders. Dark Souls would win over BB. DS really set the stage for a harder, more mechanically intense action game than LoZ. Skyrim really changed how a lot of open world games are made, and Witcher 3 did the same by making a widely acclaimed RPG with some great DLC in comparison. Even if you think W3 is trite western fantasy, it cucks Skyrim hard as the more deep RPG.

Borderlands 2 may even have a shot since it really pushed the rpg-shooter to an extreme that no one else had, along with smothering content releases.

They arent looking for FUN or flashy, they are looking for games that redefined, popularized/normalized, or invented genres.

This but unironically.
Brainlets on Yea Forums don't realize that game of the decade isn't the same as best game of the decade

>nintendo holds the industry back

wat

Agreed. I used to think good games would be appreciated and bad games wouldn't. Boy, was I wrong!

It didn't actually

Morrowind did I suppose

>Tanked the brand to the point where MS had to abandon the current generation and bet everything on the next.

>bloodborne kids who think the same decade that DMC5, Bayonetta and Dragon's Dogma came out makes their little man's action game relevant
Heh cheer up little boy you're gonna grow past 5'3" soon promise!

It should be an open world game because those have dominated the decade and are utilizing the hardware to the limit.
The obvious choice is Skyrim in that regard. Though Witcher 3 is a contender despite coming late into the decade
Besides that Souls games really took off and people have been copying them relentlessly, so Dark Souls is also competing.
If it's not obvious, I think influence is the most important feature in a GotD.

Minecraft

Unironically Fate/Grand Order

Attached: 1541261217465.png (844x528, 229K)

Dark Souls sold double the amount of copies in a quarter the amount of time.

>Nintendo calls out gacha company to stop being predatory cunts

Skyrim is just a dumbed down re-release of Oblivion.

calling skyrim the plebs choice tells you all you need to know on how influential it was. devs want to cater to the lowest common denominator and skyrim was normieville incarnate

fpbp

Bayonetta if you go by western release dates.

Attached: bayonetta 2 haircut.jpg (1038x576, 67K)

not an argument but yeah that suck sometiems, but its because of the lore. messengers at the lamp cant trade bloodechoes between you and the Moon Presence only doll can do that, why doll can do that nobody knows i bet Gehreman could do that too but fromsoft said no to old grampa for being fire keeper, from soft games dont appeal to waifu faggotry too much but firekeepers clearly had to be that, yes in sekiro it will be too.

fuck soulsgames had made me autist.

wayy more polished, das3 had literally das2 tier filler areas.

>bayonetta
Lol get outta here

Um bro yours doesn't have the sickdark AESTHETIC and epic lovecraftian experience

Yeah and it proved that dumbing down works because Skyrim sold near-90s pokemon numbers of copies

>TOMMORROW
So literally nothing worth shit

>Nintendo delays games because they don't want to make shit games
Why do they still all pale in comparison to anything else that's being put out then?
>Makes great handheld systems that allow the busy man to play where ever he wants.
Why did they make it part-console, makin it so every game has to be developed for both playstyles in mind and allowing both to suffer for it, then?

GOTD Is coming out later this month user
either that or bloodborne

Attached: 1551890384924.jpg (1920x1080, 384K)

Funny how most people think a barely AA game that came out in 2009 is better than a Triple A funded by Sony personally in 2015 is better huh :)

>not an argument but yeah that's an argument
. . .

Cant wait

Sekino

In what universe has BB earned the title over DS?

Dark Souls wasn't that innovative, Demon's Souls did it all before.

if Todd keeps it up itll be GOTD next decade too

Sony has been fucking the industry hard with their movie games and censorship you twats

Attached: gun bat.png (558x744, 428K)

keep dreaming, its solid 85 game. goty comes in two weeks and it may be some contender for BB
its funny how every formsoft game has been goty and literally has a monopoly for GOTD

Dark Souls sequels will never not be Bloodborne-lite

>2015 is late in the decade

Attached: 1551705368820.jpg (720x736, 32K)

user, are you pulling "facts" out of your ass again? Surely you have some way of proving that statement right? You cant get an idort to fall for consolewar bullshit

>Sony is bad so ignore how much worse Nintendo is, please!!!!!

load screens wont define GOTD for fuck sake

>consolewar shitposters blindly defend multi-billion dollar companies instead of realizing that both make some amazing games and still have their respective faults

And Demons Souls wasnt released in 2010+, and wasnt nearly as popular (even though i liked it alot)

Stay delusional nintincel.

WRONG

Attached: header.jpg (460x215, 32K)

This, I'd say it's just fair to hand the title to the game that also came out every year of the decade.

Reminder to report offtopic pokemon threads, especially since they aren't confined to a single thread and all OPs are just rehashes at this point. I only say this because I know I can count on you.

>got the dark grey joycons
my nigga

Kemono friends Picross

You really don't keep tabs on the industry don't you?

As someone who owns consoles from all the makers I am not happy with Sony pulling the Commiefornia shit on Japanese devs. In fact they are ironically being more racist than I am, and I am pretty racist for good reason

pretty much everything is better in bloodborne, of course dark sousl is more rpg but BB is more combat focused and sekiro will be all on combat focused,

bb well be the most solid quality between RPG and action

Play more games

>Wahhh, Sony has bad business practices!
>Ignore the fact that Nintendo makes terrible hardware and terrible games RIGHT NOW!!!

DaS1>DaS3>DeS>BB>DaS2

it's not because i don't think BB is better, it obviously is, but i say

dark souls 1
it started a trend that's still going through the end of the decade, it definitely left its mark
unless we're talking about quality instead of importance then ok it's bloodborne

>Nintendo makes terrible hardware and terrible games
Their hardware is lacking but they actually have games

Attached: murica doubts.jpg (500x423, 28K)

there is allways been this silent agreement in video games where you cant say what is the best game in the world, but god damn bloodborne does well for breaking that law.

Absolutely this

Attached: DFD888B1-06B4-43C0-A234-0F53B69B65AC.gif (712x400, 669K)

Watch it be some walking sim like Edith Finch, Firewatch, or Stanley Parable or something. No joke those games move units for their cost and are widely copied

Sony doesn't make good games either. Their good stuff is all third party.

Batman Arkham city isn't the best but it's super influential.
That game's combat system has been ripped off by everybody
Slenderman was another one that completely changed how the horror genre works.

I have to agree and I've never even played skyrim.
but the fact that a game can still be getting mod support and having a strong community around it like Skyrim has is incredible.

>bloodborne
>Sold like 4 million copies
>Not even 8% pick up rate

Mario Odyssey is nice but 1 game doesn't stack up to what the rest of the industry is doing

>Soulshit
>Good
I'll never understand how people can enjoy this garbage. From tries to be the new Capcom but can't make a respectable game for the life of them.

The highest rated by user score on metacritic is the Witcher 3.

I would rate TF2 as the best. I know it came out in 2007, but it became free to play in 2011 and was considerably different to release.

Probably Portal 2

Attached: bigiftrue.png (256x279, 66K)

Daily reminder that gamefaqs picked MM as the best game of the 2000s, you don't need to be revolutionary, you just need to be good.

For me, it was Alpha Protocol

Attached: 1527237143845.jpg (1280x720, 52K)

binding of isaac

what is MM

LISA only exists because of Undertale.

To an extent but Daggerfall was pretty damn innovative for its time. Morrowind didn't add anything new aside from better graphics and not fucking procedurally generating the map.

bloodborne is not aimed for casualls, that is huge number for game like that.

Megaman?

First of all, I'm not a Sony fan, I play primarily on PC, I don't know why you Nintendo fans always make it a Sony thing.
Second of all, at least Sony has a lot of solid third-party support. Nintendo gets the occasional Square Enix title and a bunch of throwaway indie ports.

Skyrim. Ah yes, another Bethesda game that only becomes playable when you mod the shit out of it. Based Bethesda!

Arkham City is another strong contender but i'd argue most of the game aped Arkham Asylum just dialed to 11

Majora's Mask

Mass Effect 2
BASED

Attached: stalker anomaly.webm (226x400, 1.63M)

Honestly this. Bloodborne is a good game but every single normie has played Skyrim and is still playing skyrim after like 8 years.

Skyrim's gonna get it.

Minecrap.
In all honesty though, it's probably going to get recognized as such because of its universal appeal and history. Inb4 "It's not good becuz babby gam. y u no schut?"

Attached: bbwmc.png (400x463, 160K)

>skyrim. Ah, yes, the game that went full action-adventure rpg lite and sold more units than most games' entire franchises and continues to have the most robust modding community of a modern game

>Why did they make it part-console, makin it so every game has to be developed for both playstyles in mind and allowing both to suffer for it, then?
what are you talking about man, docked or not the playstyle is the same. The only difference might be not being able to use motion controls right in handheld mode which doesnt matter because who gives a fuck about motion controls

I don't get it either, they have always made middle of the road trash for confused grandmas that don't know what games they should buy for their grandchildren so they pick the one with the cool cover art. There is nothing wrong with this but we have to stop and think for a second if this is what we want to represent the video games of the 2010s.

Minecraft was kino up until the survival update which then ruined everything and continued ruining it. When those Wolfs got added in it was te beginning of the end for this comfy game.

What’s the point of this pic it isn’t hard to type those out?

>I don't like it so it sucks

Attached: 1301466770431.png (377x378, 40K)

Well normalfags aren't exactly known for playing good games so i don't see what that have to do with anything.

Witcher 3, obviously.

Attached: hos.jpg (1920x1080, 262K)

There's something a bit revolutionary about making something truly unique while being a modified version of another game.

You can't deny Bethesda RPGs are mediocre shit. They only hold up due to mods and a little news flash for you. You can't praise developers for the efforts of modders. The game deserves no praise. If anything, the modders do. Fuck Bethesda and their consistently mediocre garbage. High budget and yet consistently shoddy and broken.

telltale's the walking dead defines the decade of cinematic trash lacking gameplay

It's still bad, man

fpbp

Attached: 1512073261447.png (455x445, 185K)

In what way? Muh reveiws no one gives a shit about? CDPR isn't setting a standard. They even admit a dev like Rockstar's influencing them still.

Skyrim isn't gonna win you retards the most selling of anything never wins as the best of the decade.

Yes but normalfags will probably decide who wins the award.

Don't rub it in

Attached: 1550032041624.jpg (222x230, 14K)

This, the GOTD is obviously gonna be indie, it's not about muh most copies or muh originality is about what the game represents

Devs have to dynamically scale the resolution between docked and heandheld mode, instead of optimizing it for one or the other. This results in a console with outdated visuals and a handheld with a muddy display lacking any clarity. Combined with the issue of the many different controller possibilities and the motion controls you mentioned means devs have to make sacrifices so you can play it on one Joy-con or with motion controls whether docked or in handheld rather than focusing on one solution for their game.

Yup it's going to be undertale or some shit

Skyrim
tlou
witcher 3
bloodborne
breath of the wild
fortnite
God of War
Red Dead 2

on of those will probably win some gotd award.

Bloodborne didn't set any standards either kiddo.

they exist because of mother, and lisa was made of manly tears for real men, because undertale is unplayable furry tier cringe shit.

Splatoon. Redefined console shooters for me.

>redefined console shooters
Not much to redefine there. Trash goes in, trash comes out.

You're right I didn't think about the resolution change between the switch and a tv, that might make things more difficult. And the go to multiplayer on a switch would be 2 little joy cons instead of 2 real controllers which probably limits some possibilities

>Skyrim aged like shit
>TLOU will be forgotten by the time TLOU2 comes out, just like all of these cinematic shooters. This doesnt mean that they are bad but simply replaceable. I sont think media is THAT stupid

The fuck does this mean?

E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy or My Summer Car

>DMC5
It's still not out retard, you can't say it's better than anything.

What the fuck is wrong with everyone?
The decade starts january 2011 and ends january 2021.

This for me

Then explain how 2000 was a new millenium
checkmate motherfucker

It is not. Learn to count natural numbers. They start from 1.

Ny personal contender would probably be dark souls 1. It made harder games viable in the video game market again

Hopefully the dust on your PS4 hasn't gotten too heavy haha!
Saving it for the next bloodborne thread I hope.

For the media? Skyrim for sure. They still compare every game released until now to Skyrim like it's some kind of Citizen Kane

Minecraft and RDR1 are probably up there tho

no it doesn't you fucking mong the decade starts the first of the 0th year. January 1st, 2010 was the first day of this decade and the 31st of December this year will be the last

Don't even have a PS4, what are you babbling about? Where was I defending Bloodborne? I don't give a fuck about it.

it will prolly be either ArrowKnee V or Ciri's bra-less adventure III

Attached: 1537387340868.jpg (667x350, 33K)

read There is no 0th year. The first year in our calendar is year 1, that's where the first decade, century and millenium start, and it keeps that way for the next ones, so the millenium started in 2001, and the decade in 2011.
You learn this things at school, what country do you live in?

Surprisingly low amount of JRPGs mentioned. They really dropped the ball this decade didn't they?

still counts dumbass. Dark Souls was the cultural phenomenon.

fucking christ when people refer to decades they aren't fucking counting from the first year on the calendar. we refer to modern decades as sets of 10s (the 80s, the 90s, etc) what kind of complete fucks would we be if the 70s included the year 1980 and NOT the year 1970. Kindly go fuck yourself into a hole and don't come out

Probably Breath of The Wild, reaches a nice middle ground of the open world games that defined the decade and has mainstream appeal while not being a poptier game like fornight or something like that

Read a book from time to time, and don't miss elementary school.

Dark souls you dork
>but muh artstyle
It looks exactly like a jap game made by a westaboo

I wouldn't say persona 5 is close to the game of the decade so yep

This. BB is simply the best.

>look at me I don't know anything about history but I'm smart I swear!

the most likely by normies are
Dark Souls/Bloodborne
Skyrim
The Witcher 3
Red Dead Redemption 1/2
God of War
The Last of Us

Sekiro will surpass it. Cap this.

Dark Souls came out this decade too jackass, so even if your number one is one of them meme games you still picked the wrong one.

I know it's still a fresh memory, but Fallout 76 surely.

>God of War
I can see it but I really don't think this will be even close.

but for me, it's just the souls series as a whole

Go back to play Fortknight shithead

What basis do you use to assess quality cuckold?

these seem likely. Red Dead, Dark Souls and Skyrim are top contenders

Why does he have to be such a fat bitch? He was skinny once

Nier: Automata.

>Skyrim: Game of the Decade Edition
>Now for Samsung Smart Fridge

lol not gonna happen

What would be included in Game of the decade edition?

Breath of the Wild

a hidden albino mudcrab

Too toxic

Nice bait

i was going to say this and i didn't think anyone else would agree, i love u

Who knows if we will ever see a video game of this caliber get snubbed quite hard. Shame about the online though, really dragging its name through the mud a second time.

This

minecraft.

no man's sky, it's not close. that shit was HILARIOUS.

we have to take into account the entire decade, Im trying to remember what was going on around 2010 and 2011

Attached: 1497711209766.png (730x482, 38K)

I used to come here because Yea Forums took pride in playing obscure weird games you never heard of before. I see now that era has passed, all i see in this thread is retarded mainstream shit. RIP Yea Forums

Terraria

sc2 came out in 2010, that was probably the biggest release of 2010

Yo mom's dank pussy

It's honestly this

/thread

Breath of the Wild.

>2020 is approaching

Attached: 1375986723524.jpg (210x230, 6K)

someone should compile some kinda list of all the big releases form each year, that will probably be alota threads in 2020

fpbp
/thread

Minecraft, unironically.
>original, kick started a genre
>extremely popular and influential
>still going strong
>something on offer for everyone ranging from the most casual to the most hardcore

wikipedia has something similar, but i'm not sure what you mean by "big releases," it would be difficult to quantify

That's from 2009.

it probably is minecraft honestly. I dont even like Dark Souls but it should be up there to since it created a massive trend for like 4 years.

Its funny, I live in LA and the person that bought the single most expensive house was Notch lol.

Rayman Legends, baby.

In no order these are the top contenders among games already released, taking into account rabid fanboyism "gaming journalists" opinions squads

Skyrim
GTA V
Bloodborne
Fortnite
Minecraft
Witcher 3
Last of Us
Breath of the Wild

Some deserve to be considered, others do not. But this is the list as of now.

Attached: 1551378256168.jpg (1080x1349, 204K)

why in the fuck hasn't there been a third one yet. Im so pissed off

Shogun 2.

official release was 2011

>imagine having a wall of pictures of yourself
girls aside, gta shouldnt be on there, yea it was popular when it came out, but it wasnt a phenominon like some of these

I've had my butt clenched every E3 for the past four years. Fucking Ancel and BG&2 ruining everything.

reasonable and likely desu

okay, retard

Shogun 2 was so fucking good. How could it go so wrong? Current games aren't bad, but it feels like we just go sideways. Shogun 2 did everything so perfectly

If it weren't for all the factions being near identical, it'd certainly be my favorite TW.

Dark Souls
>dared to be different at a time when casulization and mass appeal in games were rampant.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
>revolutionized a genre, for better or worse. It will probably be considered the Super Mario Bros of open world RPGS in the future as far as mass appeal goes.
Minecraft
>created multiple genres on its own, game defined an entire generation of gamers.
Breath of the Wild
>Broke the mold on what was possible in open world games, but I feel like it's the weakest entry on this list.

This, it came out near the start of the decade to huge hype and immediately became culturally relevant with all the arrow to the knee memes. It also got ported to every major platform and just refuses to die.

Attached: The call that saved tamriel.png (800x800, 262K)

>Bayonetta
>2009
Are you one of those retards that insisted that Persona 5 was a 2016 game?

>but I feel like its the weakest entry on this list
>compared to fucking Minecraft and Skyrim
Retard

>tfw we will never get a proper Rome sequel with the fun and polish that Shogun 2 had

Feels really bad man. To this day I still can't even touch R2. It just feels bad to even play after all these years.

By weakest entry I'm referring to influence and what it brought to the table. Yes it was innovative in how Link could interact with the world around him, but it didn't introduce much that you couldn't already do in open world games. I still believe that Minecraft and Skyrim allowed for more, and are more significant overall.

This

Bloodborne for me.

Red Dead Redemption 1/2
Fallout NV
Metro 2033/ LL
Sleeping Dogs
Max Payne 3
Mafia 2
MGSV
Definitive contenders, all are better than every royale or streamer focused game. You are into homo if you dislike a single game on here

PUBG, changed the FPS multiplayer genre forever and still the best battle royale game.

There is not a single game made this decade worthy of being one of the 10 Greatest Games Ever Made.

Attached: 10 Greatest Games Ever Made.jpg (1920x1920, 1.25M)

Xenoblade Chronicles
>non-cringe JRPG
>great gameplay in a massive world with the most creative setting
>fantastic story with very well done cutscenes
>characters are all grounded and believable, no weebshit
>amazing music

It has to be an indie. It's not the Best Game, it's the Game of the Decade, and the 2010s are defined by the rise of the indie scene. Minecraft (which was officially released in 2011), as well as being a poster child for indie gaming and an enormous contributor to the prominence of Lets Players/streamers, was the originator of trends that traveled all the way into AAA gaming. Survival? Crafting? Both Minecraft. Sandbox/open world games (something so rooted in modern gaming trends that shooters have taken from it with battle royales)? Helped into prominence by Minecraft (along with others like Skyrim/Witcher 3). Hell, the battle royale mode itself was first popularized through Hunger Games minigames in Minecraft.

Whether or not it's a good game is immaterial. Minecraft is simultaneously a perfect example of a '2010s game' and a trendsetter that shaped the face of gaming for this decade. I'd consider The Last of Us and any particularly influential mobile game (don't know any off the top of my head) to be worthy contenders as well, as they shaped other aspects of gaming that have come to define this decade. Perhaps for the worse, but once again, this is independent of quality.

Botw,dark souls,minecraft,red dead 1,bloodboner,skyrim

worst list ive ever seen you utter gimp

Actual taste answer:
>bloodborne
Casual normie shitter answer:
>Skyrimjob

Attila is actually great weirdly enough. Lot's of great campaigns and varied factions with very varied gameplay. Such a shame it got screwed over by Rome 2. It only needed polish and it would've been perfect

>bb
Fuck off, it‘s ds1. And that‘s because it came out during a time where everyone tried to copy the wii casual market. From were one of the few who were brave enough to say no. Also made a 3rd person slow action dark fantasy rpg, no one could copy

>Do I stand out yet?!

The decade ended better than it started so I think the future is bright. Besides Dark Souls what good games were released between 2010 through 2014? However from 2015 through 2019 we've definitely had smash hits that blow out the first half of the decade out of the water.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

From the looks of it Sekiro will BTFO Bloodborne. Its combat looks 10x better and some of the bosses we've seen so far look better than anything in BB's basegame.

Attached: ShadowsDieTwice.png (1920x1200, 15K)

This, or Dark Souls. Definitely not BB, that game influenced nothing and had a surprising lack of actual players.

Almost every game from those lists is japanese.
The west can't even compete.
