Dusk is just Diet Quake, tried all the fidelity of it but none of the actual crunch. Sound Design is absolutely at it's weakest too, something Quake excelled at more than two decades ago.

Ion Maiden and Amid Evil are the only two games worth playing atm, Ion Maiden less so due to it being more like a Demo than an actual full game.

Did you even play the original? The original soundtrack had Trent Reznor's amazing ambiance and the guns felt amazing to use. The atmosphere was there, it was dark, gritty, sort of a technological hell and mythic landscapes.

Astonishingly mediocre. It's packaged as a love letter to old-school FPSes but understands nothing of their design or what made them fun. Procedurally-generated levels, no weapon or enemy variety to speak of. For the same price, you could grab Bunker Punks, a game which does the old-school FPS/rougelite mashup much better. I wouldn't exactly give that game a glowing recommendation either, but it's leagues better than STRAFE.

I've been thinking about making something that combines Unreal and Half-Life into one, where you're a human prisoner who crashes on an alien planet and you're trying to survive against the simple fauna for a bit, but then you get captured by the sentient fauna of that planet and you get put in a research facility, then another group of aliens invades and also the humans arrive too to try and get their prisoners back

Enemy AI is fucking retarded and just a copy/paste of "1 enemy that runs at you" and "1 enemy that shoots at you". Level design was mediocre and as another user said the OST and sounds were awful. The metal is just BADASS!!!(TM)

Thoughts on the "quicksave" Soul Tether item? I think this game might be savescummer's worst nightmare on high difficulties, having to manage limited quicksaves as a consumable item sounds like a cool idea.

Amid Evil is the best retro throwback fps of the lot so far in terms of weapons, levels, and art.
Dusk has great gameplay, but sometimes the levels and model graphics feel bare and pointless.
Ion Maiden is also great, but kind of stereotypical unoriginal sci-fi at times. Also too short currently.
