FE6 like all games has the same issue with maps. Couple of good ones but majority is bad, so you have to be a little bit more detailed when it comes to that. The desert map is just painful and boring.

Not really. 6 is far superior to any of the GBA games and the 3rd best game in the series overall. FE6's map design is just vastly generally better, and using only the best objective. It succeeds at this by having a lot of variables in how one must approach that objective (map layouts, more powerful enemies, etc), whilst also littering it's maps with many relevant and useful sideobjectives (mo. Whilst FE7 has some okay maps, they're unfortunately also bundled in with a lot of boring Defence maps and Routs. The weakest maps in FE6 compare pretty favorably to the worst maps in 7, and there are a lot less of them. 6 also gives you far more unique and powerful items and weapons to utilise. You get legendary weapons as early as the Durandal in 8x, Brave Weapons and Reavers starting from 10, a Longbow and Physic from 7, Siege Magic from 16, and effective weapons like the Horsekiller or just bows in general have a lot more relevance because of triple MT compared to FE7's 2x Mt and wvyern spam. You get status staves starting from 10, Warp in 14, Hammerne in 15, Rescue in 16 and more statboosters to distribute. The problem is of course durability is a worthless mechanic but the saving grace unlike all the other games is you need to kept your legendary weapons at least and not waste them.

Very simple, not very tactical but gets you a feel for a game with permadeath with the option to grind and use every unit you want to with a light hearted story/cast with mostly fun characterizations. It’s not a “good Fire Emblem game” but I was able to transition into the rest of the series well. I’d recommend Normal/Classic because there’s a bit of bullshit on later chapters where enemies spawn and move on Hard.

You spend half the game in a spreadsheet trying to assure the right holy weapon is passed down with no in game help on how the mechanic works, run across the map to seize a castle from weak enemies. Run across the map after a cutscene to seize another castle from weak enemies, Double your turn count if you want to use the non-mounted units b/c they have half the move and need to catch up. The AI is fucking retarded and clever mode doesn't even do anything different, Trading of items between characters is troublesome for no fucking reason and you get gold liker candy anyway and the level design is the definition of rotten shit on a platterwith annoyingly long backtracking and terrain that hinders movement for way too long to the point that they boring and make you want to kill yourself. You have some of the worst level design in video game history like chapter 8. It's just two straight lines without much ability to diverge from the course. It's the pinnacle of mount dominance. There is very little reason to use any unit other than Seliph to solve nearly all problems on the maps. The map also breaks if you go too fast. The side objectives are horribly uninteresting to obtain and some are so far out of the way they aren't even worth the effort nor or they challenging. You can save every turn for fuck sake. Makes sense you wouldn't like a real trpg like 6, you like shitty walking sims
